Late after a long day of job hunting, Haritia had wound down at one of her favourite bars in the Strip. Well, if you consider drinking, cracking jokes, and laughing hysterically as “winding down”. The sphinx never really was one for quiet time. She had had quiet time for hundreds of years. Since coming to the island, that ended up being an activity she’d only engaged in a handful of times. Drinking with other regulars was more her style. And drink she did.
A little too much, maybe. When a guy from down the bar called her an idiot following one of her jokes, getting a laugh out of his own buddies, she’d usually only shout back something equally rude. She was one too many shots of whiskey past that, though.
She marched across the bar and got right up in his face. “What’d you say to me, pal?”
Sadly, he saw it coming when she took a swing at him. A wiry fellow – and a sober one at that – ducked and took off. However, the sphinx had packed too much power into her punch, and couldn’t stop it as her first continued on… into a poor, innocent bystander.
“Aw, shit!”
