Hari blushed, so thank God for the library lighting and his dark skin. He cleared his throat. "While, uh, our numbers are small at the moment, we're hoping we could participate more in school-wide events and recruit new members. All great things start small."

That was sad, even he knew that was sad, but that was the best way to phrase it without sounding any sadder. He didn't even want to tell her their actual number. There were just three of them. Hari turned around to grab the plate of cookies and offered Euna some. "I also bake for all the meetings. We sincerely hope you'll consider joining."

Euna sniggered. All great things start small. Of course she knew what that meant for the club. Nonetheless, she put down her stack of books on a nearby end table and took an X-shaped cookie from the plate.

"I'll think about it, maybe," she chirped nonchalantly, and bit into the cookie. After a few moments, her eyes lit up. "Holy shit these are good." She took several more cookies in different shapes and munched on them, nearly forgetting to clear her mouth before continuing.

"I changed my mind. I'll definitely consider it. Probably."

Hari half-jumped excitedly in place. He did it! Sort of. His mission was to expand the book club, and he more or less succeeded. He set the cookies aside.

"Excellent! We meet here on Wednesdays at five, if you'd like to join our meetings. We assign books on the first week of every month and discuss them at the last week. In between, we mostly talk about literary fandoms and such." He blushed. He never thought he'd say 'fandom' in a real life conversation with a normal person, but here he was, sinking that low.

Just in time, his Writing Workshop speaker arrived and, with him, at least three people, all possibly going to attend the workshop. Hari made a small excited noise. Five people (sadly, workshop teacher included) attended the first day party! This was practically a success.

"Literary fandoms don't sound too bad," Euna quipped, noting Hari's faint blush and raising an eyebrow. Geez, what a nerd. She heard the word "fandom" all the time and no one mada a fuss over it.

Just then, an immense crowd of four and one adult came in. Euna squeaked, dancing on her toes. They weren't going to be a two-person party anymore! She froze, realizing that she had actually squeaked, and immediately attacked the plate of cookies to cover it up. She waved at them, still picking up the cookies, and turned to face Hari, a sudden question on her mind.

"And what if someone wasn't able to finish a book in time?" she asked, before studding her face with another palm tree cookie.

Hari watched the girl hide her embarrassment under cookies and grinned. That was the cutest thing he had seen all day. He offered the people that passed by some cookies, and some of them took them. They disappeared into the next room where the workshop was supposed to be.

He shrugged. "Well, prepare to get massively spoiled! That's pretty much it. We don't, like, punish you for not finishing a book or anything! Just tell us what you like and dislike about it, and any thoughts you had while reading."

He placed his cookie plate on a table. Now, for a more personal question. Hari double checked the place for more people. The coast was clear. He stepped closer to Euna. "What are..." his voice turned into a whisper, "...your fandoms...?"

Hal was never a person who was into books. He would read to pass the time. He would say if it was a good read, if it was tedious or boring, cliche or otherwise. But he wasn't one to talk about all the technical things like style or plot devices and what-not. He wasn't interested when he came across the tacky poster by the book club but the moment his eyes caught sight of "WATER COLORING WORKSHOP", it was as if his feet glued itself to the floor and he started reading everything on the poster. Not only did they have a workshop on water coloring (and he hopes it has nothing to do with whoever made the said poster) they had a doll-making workshop. It had been one of his curiosities to make dolls. Especially the cute ones you could make into key-chains. But it would take a lot for him to hide the fact he was that enthusiastic of the prospect of making dolls. That would be embarrassing.

Hal awkwardly made his way into the library, hoping he would not run into anyone he know and find out he was on his way to an event by The Book Club. He wasn't that much of a nerd.

Stealthily, he moved through the shelves toward the section where the space was set up for a workshop. He was a few minutes late because he wanted to make sure he would not be easily seen. He took detours and all that to make it look like he wasn't really meaning to go there. But that was hard to hide without a crowd to blend into.

A heavy sigh, Hal made his way to the two who seemed to be engaged in a conversation. "Uh, hey..! Not to interrupt but... this is the Book Club's workshop thing...right?" Hal didn't expect his voice would come out sheepish. He hopes it didn't sound as bad to these two.

Euna was poised and ready to talk about every single fiction and nonfiction book she had read, but was interrupted by what looked like a younger student. She flailed her arms in the air, frantically at first, the last of her cookies in danger of flying and falling.

"AW YEAH, PEOPLE-- I mean, no fair, I was going to drop some sick fandoms on-- I meanthisisthebookclubworkshopthinghowcanwehelpyou." Ten seconds into this book club thing and she was already messing up, bar the fact that she hadn't actually joined yet. She let her arms fall to her sides, and stuffed her last palm tree-shaped cookie into her mouth. Euna stared as impassively as she could at the newcomer, until out of her mouth spilled three (possibly) inappropriate words.

"Wow, you're young."

Hari was completely composed as he watched a new person join their little party, but on the inside he was doing a little happy jig. The kid looked a little nervous, so Hari attempted to set him at ease. "This is the Book Club party, yes. I'm glad you could come! I'm Hari, the Book Club Leader. Are you here for the Writing workshop, my friend?"

Hari pointed at the next room with his thumb. It was a meeting room, so the windows were made of glass. The workshop tutor was lecturing the people inside with a fancy powerpoint. The slide was on "Character Development: 1 Dimension is too few Dimensions."

"Cookie?" He offered the newcomer some of the lovely pirate-themed cookies he made.

Hal raised a brow at the girl standing in front of him. He could tell she was a little bit hyper but "a little bit" might be an understatement. He never really got along with overly-energetic people. He was about to ignore her and pay attention to the other more logical person but the girl had to point out that he wasn't supposed to look like a 12-year old.

"Gee, thank you for pointing that out, miss. I'm sure you're not the only one who thinks I'm a grade-schooler." he said sarcastically before turning to the other one who introduced himself so politely. Hari sounded like a better person to talk to, Hal thought, and he seemed pretty nice too.

"Actually, I was here for the... water coloring... workshop... I'm not actually that into writing and stuff like that. I didn't expect I'd get here a little earlier though." Hal shifted his weight to one leg. He was feeling a bit awkward. He never had to talk to people when he went to workshops but then here he was. Being offered food, apparently. Hal couldn't say no. He could never say no to cookies. And the cookies looked adorable.

"Uh. Thanks." he said as he cautiously reached out for one (or two). He didn't want to look like he really wanted them. At the first bite, Hal's eyes lit up and he almost squeaked, forgetting he was supposed to act chill, "Oh my god, these are really good! Did you make them yourself?" he chirped, taking one more bite after the other.

Euna gulped. She wasn't expecting the 'kid' to be someone actually... old. She was planning to shut up and let Hari handle the situation, but then he did the thing. He sassed her. With sarcasm.

Oh, it's on now.

While Hari offered the cookies, Euna skulked behind the Book Club president and adjusted her scarf, muttering into the flannel tartan. Her mouth was concealed enough so that not a lot of people would hear her, much less notice that her mouth was moving. "I'll show you miss, you think you're grand? And for your information, your attempt at sarcasm was kind of desperate. I'm not even gonna wind you up, boy, we're past that page. I don't care how old you are, I'll take you on any day."

Upon noticing his reaction to the cookies, she decided that that would be the first battlefield. Get to the cookies first. One-up this guy. Beat his obvious squeaks into the dust of sarcasm. She took a few more cookies from the plate Hari was holding as discreetly as possible, shooting the newcomer a challenging glare. The X-shaped cookie was devoured with a little more vehemence than necessary.
