Hari's doctor and his therapist told him two very contradicting things.

His doctor told him, Hari, you need to stop overexerting yourself. Your health is constantly fluctuating and you are in danger of falling deathly ill if you're not careful. It was a simple enough order. He needed to cut back on socializing and exploring to take time to rest so he wouldn't get sick everyday.

But then his therapist told him something else. She said, Hari, your chronic depression is the reason you're getting sick in the first place. You need to stop isolating yourself and try to form meaningful connections with other people so your mental and physical health would improve.

They should stop worrying so much. If he dies, it is simply his time.

Still, he didn't like the idea of constant isolation or mingling with large crowds very much. He scoured the College for things to do and found out about the Book Club.

He liked the idea of book club. He liked books. It would be great to talk about them with other people. He joined a week ago and, just recently, took up the mantle of club leader.

As leader, he wanted other people to appreciate the wonder of books as much as him and the other members. He put up flyers all over the campuses about a Book Club gathering.

A bit corny, but he made sure to add in explosion effects on the flyers to make them cooler and flashier.

The gatherings were finally going to be held today and tomorrow. He arranged with the librarians to keep a section of the library open for their gathering. They put up interesting books for people to peruse, for both novices and bibliophiles alike, ranging from easy to read modern Young Adult serials such as the Harry Potter and Hunger Games, to the much harder classics, like Homer and Joyce and Shelley, to any and everything in between. He decorated the area with simple adventuring decorations, putting stuffed animals of wild beasts on top of the shelves, marking the sections with plates as if they were treasure, and putting up a library map/treasure map on the big empty wall.

To further the public's interest, he baked a huge batch of chocolate chip cookies and biscuits shaped like X's, guns and palm trees. The beverages area had blue lemonade and red iced tea marked as "mana" and "health" respectively.

He spent a whole week preparing, and he was honestly exhausted from making things presentable. It was almost three — a lot of the students were going to be free from class. He sat in a corner, coughing up a lung because of work and sincerely hoping he garnered enough interest for the little event.

A brown-haired girl poked her head into the designated area of the Book Club Party. Euna would have been there about twenty minutes earlier, but she had been distracted by the Geography section a while ago.

It didn't seem as though anyone were here yet. There was, however, one person in the corner having a coughing fit. She immediately assumed that that was the nerd who organized the event and made all those lame posters. Those flyers needed a lot of work.

She immediately approached the drinks, and decided that health potions worked best. She filled up two cups and approached Hari in the corner, holding out one one of the cups of "health potion." She took a sip before speaking.

"Hiya! Your posters are lame, but where's everyone?"

He stood up when he saw someone finally come in. He thought, yes, this was at least a good sign. He wasn't expecting a lot of takers. If at least five people came in before seven, then he would consider it a huge success.

"I thought the flyers were snazzy. Er, I mean, radical, as you — I-I mean we kids like to say."

Hari shrugged. It was a pretty harmless comment, even though it was kind of insulting, so he tried his best not to let it get to him. He did his best to smile.

"It's still early. I'm sure everyone's just fashionably late. Hopefully because they're putting on pirate costumes..." He wasn't sure she would get that, so he grinned sheepishly. "...because of the theme. Did you come here for books?"

"Heh, heh, <i>radical.</i> You sound like my uncle!" She sniggered and put the second cup of "health potion" down on a nearby table. "You can have that, you know. And hell yes I came here for the books!"

Her cup of iced tea was half empty, but it was in danger of spilling about as Euna waved her arms about, talking.

"I mean, I haven't touched watercolors in years, and I don't know how to sew, so I'll probably be here for the bookshop and writing thing, at least."

Hari picked the health potion up and drank it to regenerate Health. He was rather thirsty. He thought her enthusiasm was rather adorable. Personally, it was difficult for him to get excited.

"Well, you're in luck, because the Writing Workshop is going to start in..." He checked his watch. "Thirty minutes. While you're waiting, do you want to check out the books? What kind of books do you like?"

"Sure do!" Euna stood up tall and grinned like a kid at a candy store. "I read all kinds of things! I've read everything from political theology to cheap romance garbage. Mostly those just go straight in the shredder after I'm done. I've even read.... <i>mystical space magazines.</i>" She punctuated that last sentence with a rainbowlike motion of her hands, complete with her fingers wiggling to imitate sparkles

Hald a second later, she froze, realizing what a bad move that last sentence was. Hopefully, he would dismiss it as a joke.

She hurriedly pretended to clear her throat and spun around to face the bookshelves. "What books have we commandeered today, Cap?"

Mystical space magazines? Kids these days. He could never understand this generation. "I... um... is that... a manga? Or something? I haven't been keeping up with the animes lately, sorry."

Hari led her in a journey to the center of the library, following the paper arrows taped haphazardly to the — admittedly rather funky — library carpet. He began perusing the center of the library's various "treasures." "You're an avid reader, so let's skip to the harder ones — YA, no... Comics, maybe, wait, no, they're explicit... Have you read Moby Dick? Ulysses? If you like poems, you're going to love Beowulf and Paradise Lost. If you're not much for classics, House of Leaves maybe? How about Latin American lit? A Hundred Years of Solitude? If you haven't done that yet... Ah, I'm rambling. How about this one?"

He pulled a book from the shelf, at long last. "A book with Pablo Neruda's poems. It can help you get acquainted with Latin America's unique fantasy realism writing style. It's really good, but kind of heavy and off-putting if you start a novel right away."

Euna let herself listen to Hari's ramble, all the while relieved that the "mystical space magazines" were dismissed as pop culture references. Nonetheless, she smirked at the mention of Moby Dick and Paradise Lost; she had read most of the titles Hari had mentioned.

She had not, however, heard of Pablo Neruda.

Euna took the book from Hari and opened it at random. "Wow. I'm going to need three nights for this. No, five. Anyway, these look cool, I am going to waste sleep hours with this!!" She looked up to face Hari, but instead directed her attention to the bookshelf behind Hari. She took a moment to pull out two more books from the bookshelf, seemingly at random: Roy Arundhati's <i>The God of Small Things</i> and <i>The Hunt for Kohinoor</i> by Manreet Someshwar.

"...Nine nights."

Hari grinned, trailing behind the little, enthusiastic girl that was currently blowing away the shelves like a tiny hurricane. "As a true book lover should!"

He wanted to say something about how he would do the same despite what his doctor told him, but for once, he realized saying it would be more sad than amusing. "Those are good books," he said, nodding. "Hey... this might seem out of the blue, but I think it would be good for you to join the Book Club! You definitely have the enthusiasm for books. That's pretty much the only requirement."

Euna nearly dropped half the books in surprise. Which only happened to be two. She didn't seem to notice that her tiny stack was now lopsided as she replied, positively jittering in excitement. Until the last word.

"Would I!? Hell yeahwaitwaitwait. <i>Wait.</i>"

She flashed back to some time ago, when she encountered the Book Club. Back then, it was made up of two people. Or at least two active members. The books called out to her, but... two. Two. People. Quiet ones too. The Book Club seemed kind of sad back then, so Euna skirted around them and the Astronomy club for a while, putting off the possibility of joining. Hopefully things have changed.

"I dunno, man. How many people are there in the club this time? Don't tell me it's another two-nerd party. This time us."
