"I... Probably, but I wouldn't be able to forgive myself for letting someone like that go, only for them to..." He stopped and shook his head. "But... That won't happen." He said, trying to smile and wave off the thought. "I've been here before and never saw anything like that..." If he had, he would have had a solid answer to the guilt thing.

Maddie looked upward, one corner of her lips in a frown.

As if at random, she said, "Do you think we'll be dating when I turn sixteen? How long do you think we'll last? If we break up, will we still be friends?"

He didn't expect that. His smile faltered, but he quickly shook it off and threw himself into her, wrapping his arms around her tight. "Yes! as long as you'd want me around I'd be at your side. As whatever you want me to be." He didn't know where these questions came from, but she sounded as if he may lose her one day. It was odd for him to honestly think they'd only known eachother for a short amount of time, he'd become quite attached and such thoughts were rather frightening... Maybe this was why he was so willing to kill in her scenario? Come to think of it, that didn't sound like him...

Maddie squealed in delight as he threw himself around her. She tried to give him a firm, quick kiss.

"Of course I'd want you around! I — r-really like you..." she giggled, face heating up further.

"Should we go back home?"

Laetus blushed and smiled. It was all a relief to hear. "I really like you too, Cherry-chan." He chimed happily. "I'm always happier around you."
At her question, he stood, picking her up. "Do you mean the hotel or home home? ... Has the storm passed?"

"The hotel. I'm...pretty sure the storm is going to have some nasty aftermath."

At this, Maddie looked away, the guilt washing over her again. Had a lot of people died? Were her friends all right? Was her roommate all right? How much was destroyed?

"Maybe...you could check on home home, though?"

Laetus nodded and opened a portal. "I'll check on things later tonight. I'm sure things are ok though. " He stepped off the edge into the portal, coming out in their hotel room. As Laetus had thought, there was a tray from Zippo's room service. However, Bandit seemed to have a bone in his mouth, implying Zippo at least shared a leg. Laetus smiled and placed her on the bed.

Maddie doubted everything would be okay. Natural disasters didn't work that way, did they?

She saw Bandit and smiled, but the smile fell at Zippo's tray. "Seriously, how did he order room service? I gotta know, Kiwi." She crawled closer to inspect the tray, as if it would give her her answer.

"Mind if I take a shower, or did you plan on using the bathroom?"

"Texting." Laetus answered quite matter of factly, pointing to Zippo, who had Laetus cell phone at his side. "And go ahead." He added with a smile. "I'll check home while you're in."

Maddie was still puzzled by a giant lizard (a name she was sure would offend Zippo) texting. Her smile waned as she nodded. That lump in her throat was back.

Numbly, Maddie stood and went to the bathroom. By the time she had hit the doorframe, she was already stripping her clothes off. The water was warm, very warm. It loosened the tension in her muscles.

The water just further reminded Maddie of the disaster back home, but she wouldn't cry. She wouldn't. She was stronger than that. She bowed her head forward and leaned against the wall, trying to loosen the knot in her chest.
