Laetus did a walk around the room while she was in there, seeming to check a few things before snagging his phone and stepping into a portal.

By the time Maddie had come out of the shower, her face was a hint red and her eyes raw. She rubbed them and sat on the bed in her pajamas.

Bandit must have sensed her sadness, because he padded over to her and whined, sitting at her side as she stroked his head.

"Kiwi said everything is going to be all right," she told her dog, who whined in response.

It was a few hours later. Maddie had fallen asleep, curled on the bed. Bandit lay by her side, but he wasn't asleep, he was watching the drake. When he was sure Maddie wouldn't wake up, he slipped toward the other creature.

Bandit would go to sniff the drakes head, he had tried not to get close to it, but now he was curious. If he were allowed to sniff Zippo, he'd give the drake a quick lick and nuzzle Zippo with his nose."

The sniffing was one thing, but the drake didn't enjoy being licked. Zippo glared at the slobbering mutt and swiped at its nose with his claw. He then shivvered and shook until he felt clear of the slobber. Zippo then jumped from his perch at the beds edge and walked toward the door. A midnight stroll was in order. Laetus really should take HIM out more than the female. He didn't dislike her, but was annoyed at Laetus.

Bandit gave a quiet yelp and leaped backward and off the bed. His ears pulled back, and he growled quietly at the drake. He'd never seen a creature like this, it was a very odd thing, and it tasted like a frog.

As Zippo walked to the door, Bandit followed behind at a safe distance. His head was low like he was stalking the drake, but his movements were languid, and his tail swung in a halfhearted wag.

He yipped as if to say 'don't leave me behind.'

The drake glanced back at the pup, annoyed but accepted that this bag of fur and smell was going to be following him regardless.
How did Zippo open the door? How did he lock it on their way out? Are these things ever explained? Magic or some junk.
Zippo made his way into the elevator. When the dog joined him, he would hop onto its head to reach the button with his tail, then quickly jump down and regain an acceptable distance.

Bandit blinked but was surprisingly still for the drake as it hopped on his head. Bandit was an intelligent, but perhaps curious and excitable animal.

When Zippo jumped off his head and the doors to the elevator closed, Bandit immediately charged over to the creature to again investigate him. Bandit hovered over him, sniffing him every which way. He smelled of fire, this was the closest thing Bandit could attribute the scent to and it further intrigued him.

The drake tried its best to ignore the beast, but turned his head to it eventually. Can this thing move any faster?..
Zippo looked rather unamused. Has this thing never seen another drake before?
Eventually, the doors opened, and the drake made his way out of the elevator and out the hotel doors. Once outside, Zippo took a deep breath of fresh air, letting out a bit of flame as he exhaled.

Now Bandit was more hyper than when they'd began. He lowered his upper body in a telltale playful sign and barked deeply from this throat to the creature. He whined and jumped from side to side.

If Zippo didn't react, Bandit would dart forward to nudge the creature. He thought it looked cute like humans. Bandit didn't think of many things as cute, but this thing was cute and fun to mess with.

The drake would wave its tail, indicating for the pup to either follow or wait here. Either way, he would begin walking down the road and across the bridge ahead of him. He couldn't remember if Laetus had brought him here before. A nice place either way, and other than some clusters, human activity had slowed enough to not be troublesome.
