Once agian surrounded by well over half a dozen open books and five times as much paper, Versailles waited for her classmate to show up. They'd been assigned a project in class - the study of how trauma affected a person's cognitive thinking or some such. She had a bit of difficulty understanding the proffessor and hadn't yet checked the recording.

She'd been paired with a student she was unfamiliar with, not someone she'd had a chance to work with before. In fact, she doubted that she'd ever actually seen him before in class. She didn't doubt that he'd still managed to keep up good grades considering the man hadn't dropped or been removed from the attendence. Perhaps he was simply ill, it wouldn't be illogical.

Versailles focused on the scripts in front of her, copying down what might be useful for the project and humming softly to herself, completely oblivious to the world around her.

Valentine walked through the tall and endless maze of books that was the school library- his favorite location on the campus, truly. It was easy to navigate for him, comfortable rather than intimidating. He appreciated that crisp paper smell, the light hum of magic around all the information there was to access, and the respectful hush. He hated noise, so obnoxious, so unhelpful to his already delicate senses.

He wasn't here simply here for the surroundings, however, not today. More for a curiosity. There were very few reasons that he could be compelled to show up to school- and one of them happened to be for the people.

The red hair and fox features made her easy to find. She also had… rather covered a table with books and papers. There were barely any parts of the surface that were visible anymore. Val's lips quirked slightly in an amused smile. Cute.

Val approached in no hurry, not hiding and not wanting to startle the girl, since he'd heard from their teacher about her disability. He slipped his messenger bag off of his shoulder and onto his claimed chair, sitting opposite to his classmate.

The young man quietly examined the other again, now that he was far closer. Versailles Amaranth, his age, forensic science major with a minor in psychology. Interesting, possibly, could make for a decent conversation partner, but he wouldn't overestimate anyone so instantly. He wondered what her motives for studying what she did were, as that always gave away so much. If she was dull, of course, as people tended to be, at least she was still… cute. Ha. How very shallow of him. Femininity, soft and sharp edges, left such a good taste in his mouth.

He reached across to give the pretty girl a gentle tap, to properly get her attention. He smiled at her. "Good evening. Versailles, correct? Valentine Crowther, but please, call me Val. It's lovely to meet you, and I look forward to working together."

Versailles took no notice when someone sat across from her, having almost forgotten she was meeting up with a partner. She was in the midst of taking notes on a particular page on the symptoms of trauma when someone tapped her forehead to get her attention. A small squeak was heard as the fox-girl jumped in her seat and dropped her pen onto the book.

The young man she'd been partnered with sat across from her, a smile on his face. He was rather cute, but he had a bit of a dark aura around him that shouted dangerous. Perhaps that was why he missed class so often. "O-oh, hi. Y-yes, sorry. It's a pleasure to meet you too." Versailles had a slight blush on her cheeks, embarrased that she hadn't noticed Val when he arrived. "I hope you hadn't been here long, I tend to get rather engrossed in the books. You know what the assignment is yes? Any thoughts on where to start?"

Ah, jumpy. What a nice sound she'd made, and now, stuttering. Valentine rested his chin in the palm of his hand and peered at her, entertained. "Mm, no, I just sat down- and so I've noticed. Your focus was endearing, adorable even. I can get lost in such things as well, though, so I understand. There's no need to apologize."

He shifted to reach into his bag and pull out a few journals, a bit worn around the edges, unlabeled, and set them down on top of Versailles' mess. "Trauma around anything is always a fascinating subject, one I've taken plenty of personal notes and studies on over the years. The assignment we have is fairly simple, a bit dull, even, but I'm sure we can make the most of it."

He offered a journal. There wasn't anything specifically incriminating in it, simply a great deal of up close experience that may be seen as odd. It didn't matter in this situation, since helpful was more important than odd. And his writings were more than insightful. A pretty face, prettier words, and intelligence always gave one an upper hand.

Besides. He wasn't even planning anything just yet. Simply testing the waters. Appreciating a cute girl. Perfectly normal things.

"Th-that's good then, I guess."
Versailles, being slightly socially awkward, had absolutely no idea how she was supposed to react to that. Was he attempting to flirt with her or was it just a passive comment? Her blush deepened slightly for a moment, then disappeared when she happily started flipping through the journals Val presented.

They were indeed rather insightful, as if be had been studying people himself. Versailles began marking pages with small pieces of coloured paper, occasionally making a note in short hand as she went through. Some of the pages seemed a little too indepth, but she disregarded them entirely unless there was something of possible importance in them.

"These are rather detailed. Almost professional in most places but I think you may have dug a bit too deep in others. Were you looking into working at a Trauma recovery center? With these notes it wouldn't be too hard. Unless, of course, you already were? That wouldn't suprise me."
