The way that he was pulled around the store with his now childlike boyfriend made him happy. "If I didn't limit you, you know you would go home with the entire store. You can't even deny it." They were both animal lovers, which was many another reason as to why they fit so well together. "Of course, but you have to be happy with it first." He was glad that Jericho was at least giving him a say in the animal he was getting, as he would be spending a lot of time around it.

They looked through the various animals, pointing out certain ones but never staying firm in their opinion. Not until they came across a little babe. "Yes." Cairo said without hesitation. Even though he was more of a big dog kind of guy, the thought of being able to bring it anywhere only made him excited for their future. "The little puppo wants you, I can see it!" He said before lifting Jericho up and spinning him, grateful about this new relationship goal. After putting him down, he gave the other man a little kiss, before moving away to get a worker there. "This one?" A slightly younger girl, by the name of Orlena nodded as she came over to the kennel. "Oh yes! This little one came in just a few nights ago. Found 'em all alone a few blocks from here, actually!" She smiled, moving over and unlocking the cage, as the dog yipped and jumped for her. "Seems to like me! But here you go sir." With a nod, the girl handed the small animal to Jericho. "Get a feel for the animal, see if it's what you're wanting through and through."

Jericho looked back at him, grinning like an idiot. He managed to get Cairo's seal of approval, all while serving his parameters. While he would come home with ten dogs provided the chance, his tiny dorm room wouldn't fit them. So with a chihuahua he could give it plenty of space to bounce around and hide.

"You really think so?" He asked when Cairo hinted that they were a good match. He turned to kiss him, before he went away to get an attendant. The dog and nephilim were made for each other, alright. Both seemed to get excited over the smallest things, so at least their energy would bounce off of each other. When a smaller girl came back, he scooted back to let her attend to its cage, nodding when she asked him if the chihuahua was the one he wanted. As soon as it was given to him, he held it gently. "Really? Aww, the poor thing..." It seemed so loving despite having been abandoned. The chihuahua proceeded to lick his face, to which he giggled almost uncontrollably. "Gah! Well, aren't you just the cutest?! You need a home!"

That was it. His decision was quickly made. While he was usually impulsive on these sorts of things, he was sure that the dog was what he wanted. He looked to Cairo while he wiped his cheek on his own sleeve. "I like her! Can we get her? Please?"

"She sure does!" Orlena giggled, agreeing with Jericho. "Take your time though, really." She hummed out, happy that someone had taken an interest in him. Cairo on the other hand, just stared at Jericho and the puppy, so full of delight. "She really is super cute, I think that she'd work really well." He added on again, hoping that it would help solidify his answer. "Of course we can get her, of course." He smirked, nodding to Orlena to confirm it. "Oh wonderful! I'm so happy! Just, go to the till then! I'll help you out." She squeaked a little before running to the cash register, pulling up a bunch of things for them to get with the puppy. Cairo leaned down and kissed his cheek, wanting to make sure that he knew he wasn't doing this alone.

"You just hold the baby, okay? I got it." He slowly walked over to the cash register, taking out his wallet. Orlena ringed it all up, adding in a specialty food bag for extra measure. Either way, they would be going to Winni Pinnie's after Cairo... Told him a few things. "That'll be... $170! I gave you a little discount because I really wanted to see him have a good home!" She smiled at them both, before taking Cairo's card and helping out with the transaction. "Thank you and bubye little cutie!" That was the last thing they heard before leaving the pet shop. "So um... I'd like to have a little talk with you, and then did you want to go to a pet store and get her some supplies? Or vice versa."

He was so happy. His surprise present was so great, and the surging whelm of excitement made him look forward to taking her home. "She’s so adorable. I love her already." He said, giving her a bit of a hug. He followed behind the two as the approached the front counter, letting Cairo pay for the transaction. He really was the best boyfriend in the world, and this was the best gift he could’ve given him.

Well, almost.

He eagerly accepted the kiss, almost bouncing in place with happiness. He kept himself quiet though throughout, until the transaction was completed. She was finally his, and he couldn’t wait to take her home.

"Bye!" He called out to the friendly lady that had helped them out. As soon as they left the shop with the dog in his arms, he leaned over to kiss his cheek. "Thank you Cai. You’re the best!" He exclaimed, hugging his new pet to keep her warm. "I’ve gotta think of a good name for her. I already have so many in mind." Before he got carried away with this thought, Cairo interjected. That wasn’t it for their time together, it seemed. Instantly, Jericho’s ecstasy wavered.

"A talk? Is… Something wrong?" He asked almost hesitantly, worried with the thought that it was his doing. "W-well we have the basics right now… We can buy some toys and a leash later. If you wanna talk, I’m here to listen."

"No no, this is all you. You deserve her." His grin was ear to ear as his face lit up from the kiss on his cheek. Oh how he was so in love and it was clear on his face. With a chuckle, he reassured his boyfriend with a subtle kiss on the head. "Don't worry your little head over it, okay?" Cairo walked for a solid minute with him and his dog before speaking another word. "Okay, this looks good." His tracks stopped, before he took a breath in and out to calm himself. Breathe, chill out man. The man closed his eyes for a second, trying not to pass out from the nerves he was feeling. With that, he stepped in front of Jericho to make sure he stopped. With his eyes on the other man's gaze, his speech picked up again.

"I'll need your left hand, please." He would say, waiting for Jericho to readjust himself and his new 'child' in order to complete this request. When he grabbed Jericho's hand, his own were shaking furiously; only a bit of that was due to cold. Cairo nodded to himself, biting his lip almost to the point of it bleeding. "Listen, Jericho. I know that I haven't known you for so long, and that things have been shitty and horrible sometimes, mostly due to me but-" He had to hold his own wrist to stop the shaking. "I'm serious about you, really. You mean everything to me right now." He reached into his coat pocket and pulled out a ring, turning Jericho's hand and placing it in his palm. "It's um... A promise ring or w-whatever, from me to you. I know it's super girly and it may not even fit you but it reminded me of you." He waved his hands defensively in front on his own face, the crimson on his cheeks giving away his embarrassment. "W-We aren't engaged or anything just- I just wanted you to know that I love you. That I always will."

Like always, he was self assured with Cairo. He leaned into his kiss, and the feeling of his lips managed to warm up his body further than it already was. Even though it was nearing winter outside, it might as well have been summer inside of his body. This feeling was amazing, whenever he was with him. There wasn’t a need to worry or be anxious. If there was one thing that wasn’t changing, it was the feelings he had for him.

After wandering with him, Cairo had stopped. He looked at him with a curious expression, moving the puppy into his other arm while keeping her close so she wouldn’t get cold. "Cairo..?" He asked, though his voice trailed off when his left hand was raised. He began to flush red. What was he..

He wanted to interject. Sure, Cairo wasn’t perfect as a person, but neither was he. What made him perfect as a partner was this sweetness he held inside the roughness of his edges. But he couldn’t peak up. He was awe-stricken in the moment, his greyish-green eyes wide. His hands traced over his to try to warm him up, but was he shaking from the cold?

Soon enough, he had his answer.

"Cai-" He pulled out a ring.

His hand drew over his mouth. Half out of the ring, half over his words. He stepped back a bit, but not to get away from him. A rush of emotions flushed through his body, and his hand moved to run through his fiery copper hair. The dog fidgeted, and jumped out of his arms to hug close to his ankle. A smile flashed brightly on his face.

"R-really? Cairo I… Oh my God." His words weren’t working. His actions needed to speak for him instead. So, in a swift motion, he drew his arms around Cairo in a tight hug. His face buried in his shoulder, and in his hopes, Cairo wouldn’t perhaps notice that his jacket was a little wet right where his face lay.

He squeezed tightly. "I... Y..Yeah." He muttered, moving slightly to kiss his neck. "I love you too. Very, very much."

Cairo wasn't stable in those moments. His breath was getting rigid, unbalanced. He fidgeted a bit as he waiting for Jericho's response, unknowing if he was going to get anything back in return. Had this all been a mistake? Sure, Cairo was silly and fucked up a lot, but the thought of being rejected in this big a level was overwhelming him. Did he not like the ring? Was it too girly, or maybe it wasn't a good enough time to express his feelings? Cairo mind swirled, as his heart stopped when Jericho pulled away from him. He knew it, too much. Fuck. He didn't feel the same way, did he? His mind ached, his body a wreck like he had been shattered apart.

This was it, this was the exact moment where he was going to give up on love, wasn't it? If Jericho hadn't hugged him so tenderly a few seconds later, he knew he would have died inside. His grip around his boyfriend was death like, as if there was no way that he was going to let him no. Not now, not ever. Jericho O'Malley was his and his alone, to love and hold. A hand ran through the ginger's hair, suple, soft, his. "I-I... I can't express that. How much I love you. It hurts, Jericho." He didn't want his boyfriend to see the tears that were pouring out of his face. He was supposed to be the strong one, the one that wasn't supposed to cry about anything. "You have no idea how happy you make me feel. I want you, forever." Maybe he was being a bit possessive, but he didn't care in those moments.

This was his time, finally, to be in love and feel wanted. Cairo pulled away, shivering still from the kiss of affection Jericho had given him. Everything felt fresher, more alive in his mind. He grabbed the other man's chin and raised it before kissing his lips. This time he felt like he was going to die due to the amount of excitement and desire he had flowing through him. He tilted his head more, exploring the other man's mouth with his tongue, giving his body a little break from his nerves. After a solid minute, he pulled their faces away, leaning down to pick up the puppy. He stuffed her into his own coat, as he didn't want the poor thing to feel cold or left out at all. "I love you. I love you. I love you, Jericho. Do you hear me?"

He loved him. It took him forever to admit it, but the two felt so passionately about each other now that it was impossible to ignore. This pent up love had him holding onto Cairo as if for dear life. This was their first embrace as true lovers. After everything they had been through, ups and downs, their connection was proven to mean something real. Jericho knew this wasn’t usual for Cairo. He didn’t go throwing around the L word as if its meaning was a dime a dozen. This words meant something. It meant that no matter what or how many bodies his boyfriend caressed/entered, Jericho’s was much more than a receptacle of desire. His proverbial soul was something important in his partner’s eyes. And he couldn’t have been more honored.

"Shh.. Honey, it’s okay." He didn’t want him to hush. But his worries seemed to translate into words, and it seemed like he was almost afraid that after this he would leave. "I’m here, Cairo. I promise." He whispered moments before Cairo pulled him in. Suddenly, he could feel the heated oxygen between them. He opted to seal that gap, locking his lips with the raven-haired beauty. There, time would seem to stand still.

His hands gripped him. He didn’t want to cry on him. But the rush of his feelings was getting the best of him. Tongue deep, the instinctive closing of his eyes stopped whatever would leak out. He had to keep himself together. For him.. They both needed this more than they realized, and when they finally pried away, his hands didn’t wish to let go.

He nodded furiously at his question. His eyes were off of his, looking down.

"Y-yeah. I mean yes. Loud and clear, Cairo." He inhaled. "I… I promise to be there for you. Only you. I know... I know this doesn’t change the dating. I know you still have your partners. I don’t want to change you though. I just want to be the one that you call any time of the day and I’ll be there as fast as I can. I want to be the best I can for you Cairo, because you’ve shown me that you deserve only the best."

He looked down, to open the box. He slid the ring on, gently guiding Cairo’s hand over his. He looked up to him finally, a soft smile on his face. "It’s beautiful. It really is. Thank you Cairo. For everything."

"Y-You're here, yeah." His voice was still shaky, as it seemed that most of his words didn't want to come out. Would it be too much to say that he was lovestruck, unable to properly use his mouth? Maybe, Cairo wasn't even surprised in those moments. When Jericho started to talk again, he tried his very best to try not to cry. This was too much, this was stupid, childish; he felt he was confessing his love for a crush of many years. How had he been so swept away by this winged man? It hurt him to know that he wanted someone so badly.

"You're my everything." He smiled, nuzzling their noses together, cheerful. "You're the one I want in my bed when I'm all alone. I want to hold you when I'm sad. I want your lips when I want my home back." He chuckled a bit, feeling as if his words were cheesy. "I'm not sure if that even helps your heart, as I know it hurts you. I know, you can't deny that." With that, he lifted his ringed hand and kissed it. "You are my best." He let his hand move to where Jericho wanted it, feeling his face light up again. "Thank you for giving my life meaning, Jeri-Bun."

Even with all of their emotions out on the table, Jericho still couldn’t help but to wonder what was going through his head. Was he still nervous? Scared? He wanted to alleviate all of this. His ability of empathy could barely keep up with this rush of emotions.
Maybe that was a good thing.

"Love is… Hard to understand, I know. But that’s all I feel when I’m around you." He whispered while still hovering on his lips, a soft hum escaping them when Cairo nuzzled the tip of his nose. He sighed. It was perfect... No. This space they created was beyond perfect. Not in technicalities, but rather overall embodiment. Jericho could love Cairo and only Cairo. But he understood fully that things may not work the other way around. "I’m not hurt, Cairo. I promise. I just want you to be happy and safe, no matter who you’re with. Just let me know these things, okay?" He muttered, certain in his words. He had been hurt before, yes, but he agreed to wipe the slate clean- For both their sakes.

"So are you, Cairo. You’re the best I could ask for." He kissed him again, holding on for just a few moments this time. When he pulled away, he continued, "You don’t have to thank me Cai. I could be doing the same for you." He stated softly, before backing up a bit. Just… He needed to take him all in. Every bit of his lover was as important as the piece prior. He wanted to commit everything to memory, so that when he was away, he had something to vividly daydream about.

"You know… This date has been wonderful. Everything has been perfect, honestly." He smiled. "Whatever is next is fine by me. I just want to be with you."
