Konpeitō needed to catch up on his childhood. Many people his (approximate) age had played games at the arcade and knew all about different cames. It was time for Kon to get caught up with the rest of them.

He had only been to the arcade to look around. Now that he was entering to play, he felt... awkward. He refused to let that show. Walking with a bounce, he put on an expression of pure awe and excitement as he looked at each and every game. After looking around for a bit, he noticed a basketball game. That seemed simple enough, and it allowed him to move his body, unlike most of the other games here.

As he went towards the game, he had to struggle to get through some people. Some games had more attention than others, leading to him bumping into others here and there, all the while giving apologetic glances to the annoyed faces he was getting.

Among those who played newer games, there were always those who would take on old classics, and one of such was a guy in what looked like a futuristic costume, with a pair of fox-like ears peeking above his head through the hair, and a long fluffy tail sprouting from the end of his spine. This was one of the few times Neon had been feeling like using a little more of his energy for a more aesthetically complete change, as well as in mood for a classic: Tetris.

His hands-eyes coordination was just a little off, any professional could tell he would never make it into the finals of a championship or something, but he didn't care at all. His smirk and humming Korobeiniki made it clear that such a simple puzzle action game could keep him going and going hours long.

Arriving at the basketball machine, Kon inserted his money and got into position. It was... painfully easy, actually. Was there a hard mode for people with enhanced abilities? No, there wasn't. He just kept shooting hoops and getting them perfectly. He should've played a different game. One of those first-person shooters might be what he needed.

As the game got progressively harder, eventually it was too hard for Neon to catch up, but that was not annoying at all, no... He simply let himself receive the Game Over and enter his initials in: NM. "Phew, that felt good.", with that remark, he got up and went on to find himself something else to play, and it was then when he found someone playing hoops. Those machines used to be trickier in the videos he saw of Game Centers in Japan, but as he approached he could clearly see why.

"A basic edition of hoops machine? Easy game. I'd suggest playing a light gun game instead, or an air hockey. Although air hockey are 2P. But hey, if you need I could play with you!", Neon addressed Kon in his usual friendly self, something about Kon drew his attention... Was it his colors, style? Both. Clearly a combination of both.

Kon was disconnected from the game enough to not be surprised when someone approached him. By the time the young man showed up, he was finishing up his game anyway.

"I think it's better suited for regular humans. I know before I came to the island I wouldn't have done well," he said with a chuckle. "I was thinking of playing a gun game, but if you want to play with me, I'm down for air hockey... If you mean '2P' as in 'two-players.'"

"This hoop game is certainly an easy one, there are harder ones in Japan where the hoops moves, or there's an air flow that shifts the shots a bit, or where you have to shoot only the valid one else you lose points.", Neon explained on why he felt it was easy. But that wouldn't matter anymore, right? Kon was done with it after all, and eager for something else.

When gun games were mentioned, the fox boy's eyes went to Time Crisis, then Metal Slug, both were games that had two players support. But why did he propose Air Hockey? Well... "Yes, two-players! Plus I need a bit of coordination challenge.", Tetris apparently hadn't been enough for him.

"Everyone has a different idea of easy," he said dismissively. "I never had the chance to play arcade games in Japan... or many games in general. I'm only here to get caught up on what I've missed out on."

If a coordination challenge was what the fox guy wanted, then why not go along with him? He may have the fox abilities that would put up a challenge for Kon as well. "I'd appreciate a fun game where I get to move my body. Lead the way. I don't have all the games here memorized."

Good, Neon found someone to play with. What he said about getting caught up on what was missed was something he was familiar with: "I too missed out on some things. Somehow, I cheated death, got stuck inside a game, lost my memory from anything outside the game, then came back out. Still I wouldn't try my luck on that again, no way!", and then guided the NEK0 towards an air hockey table.

There was a duo playing already, and their time was almost up, so it was just enough time for Kon to possibly understand the basics of the game. Neon explained how the game has two ways of ending: either by score or by time, and once it was time for them to play, Kon would soon see that the fox boy wasn't the best in hand-eye coordination, but he was thinking ahead for sure.

All his movements feigned an opening for a goal, but it was just to find a way to make it rebound in less predictable angles. And unlike earlier, his eyes were slit like that of a fox.

Kon barely hid the surprise from his face at the sudden information drop the boy gave. That sure was something. Not something weird on the island, but something weird to just say to a stranger. Was this what Konpeitō sounded like when he went into his rambles? He needed to watch out for that. But the boy didn't seem shaken up about it or anything, so it wasn't a big deal.

"I've seen air-hockey on the internet, but I appreciate the explanation," he said, trying to not sound too dismissive. He didn't like being told what he already knew, but he did say he was catching up on what he missed. And on this island, common knowledge wasn't always common.

Konpeitō wasn't here to win. Well, he was, it just wasn't his main goal. He was here for information. To learn about all the fun he missed out on. Though, he couldn't help but be satisfied that his enhanced reflexes and proprioception made playing this game much more fun. He was quick, yet relaxed. It was hard to catch him off guard.

"I forgot to say, my name is—" he paused to hit the puck—"Konpeitō Hatsu. What's yours?"

Neon was certainly glad to catch someone who was at least somewhat familiar with it. Meant more fun and less explanations. "You have no idea how glad I am then....", and with a smirk they would soon focus on what they came to this table for. As Kon introduced himself, Neon soon found himself having to defend his goal, but how he did was fascinating: in a flick of wrist, he sent his paddle from a hand to another, deflecting it in the exchange.

"And my name is Neon, Neon Moth, Cyber Kitsune and ex-legendary gamer."
, and the next time he were to hit back the puck, he would let Kon score once, as Neon's starting move next time was what looked like a curve shot.
