"That's good. There's a lot of opportunities on this island. If I only stuck to what I was familiar with, I would miss out on a lot of stuff. A lot of stuff. I would've been stuck in my room building computers and doing nothing else." It was weird to look back on a pleasant hobby with such a depressing view on it. That was a thing Sprinkles found meaning in. Konpeitō enjoyed it like a regular hobby.

Neon gave a small frown, he just couldn't see Kon in that situation. "I can't see you doing such thing at all. You look quite like an outgoing person.", in his mind, the fox boy just couldn't see someone so vibrant and with such an energy being an indoors' person, such concept seemed... Farfetched.

"I always was and still am. Looks can be deceiving though. Things happen to people that can change them," Konpeitō said vaguely. "It was only when I came to the island. I would've gotten bored with doing just that after a while."

Neon was no stranger to how the island could change someone. Kon, himself, and likely many more, changed their lifestyle by simply being here, in where being different is normal. But perhaps it was time to talk of future: "What's Kon's plans for the future? In case you wonder my own too, I won't hide it: I want to develop games."

Kon didn't expect that question, but he was too relieved to be stunned. Better that than being asked about his past. It wasn't something he was ashamed of or anything of the sort. It was simply inappropriate for public conversation.

"Near future plans are to become an arena commentator. Far future is to master my shape-shifting. My reward for achieving that will be me becoming a scout." He had a long list of goals, but those were the main points. He couldn't keep Neon around here forever.

"A game developer is unsurprising. Are you in college for it?"

"Is mastering shape-shifting complex? I'm oblivious to, because my ability is something that was encoded as part of my character's class back when I was inside the game world, so I'm naturally good at things I don't even know how to explain.", Neon was slightly frustrated at himself, "And at others, I'm still trying to understand myself. Anyhow, game development: so far there are these books that I borrowed to read into."

Kon couldn't figure out why Neon was frustrated. Sure, knowing skills you couldn't perfectly explain was difficult, but a lot of people were like that. It wasn't a big deal.

One thing was for sure: Kon didn't ignore how Neon either missed or ignored his question about if he was in college. He was going to assume no. The way he spoke wasn't like someone who was currently already working towards their aspirations.

"My type of shape-shifting is. I made a trade with a god for it, and I specified it to work where I need to research and practice the attribute I want. It makes my power more understandable and lessens the potential of error," he explained. It was annoying having to justify to every person why he wanted a more scientific version of shape-shifting.

"And you look young. Trying to understand yourself is natural. It's natural even when you're older. That's why mid-life crises are a thing. It's good that you're working hard for what you want too. It's tiring to hear people say they want something and do nothing towards it."

"Lessens the potential of errors...", that was not alien to Neon at all, when the class he was turned into was coded it was restricted from accessing abilities pertaining to other shapes to a degree to prevent issues from rising, specially in terms of balance. But would Kon practice such restraint himself? The fox boy decided not to poke that, there was no predicting how one would react to idea of restraints.

Once being brought up that he is young, Neon did not deny it at all. With an excited tail wave he gave repeated nods in agreement. "I wasn't always like this, that I know. I did not want to leave the game, I wanted to live in it. And then I couldn't leave it. But now I left it for good for a second chance to live life at my fullest!", and suddenly he looked even more energetic than before.

"Mhm," replied Kon as Neon thought about potential errors. He wasn't sure how the boy was thinking of things. If he was simply considering how harmful shape-shifting could be or if he was wondering how Kon's shifting work.

Or perhaps neither, because he moved onto the next topic. "Mm... sounds a lot like me," Konpeitō said with an airy tone. His eyes fell off of Neon and drifted around the room. "I didn't want to be here for a while too, but then I realized I had better opportunities here."

Neon spoke a lot about himself, but Kon kept from revealing too much about his own life. The chance that Neon might focus in on that and get more specific with his questions unnerved him. Either Konpeitō needed to take complete control of the conversation or bail. "Ah, sorry, I shouldn't keep you from playing games and practicing. We've been talking quite a bit, huh?"

With a nod in agreement to him being held back in his practice, Neon confirmed "Well, I don't have much credit left anyways. And still it was nice to talk to you, and play a small game. Perhaps we could even meet some other day to play something else or put our shape-shifting to test, although I must make sure I'm well-energized by then, of course.". Perhaps it was time for them to go separate paths, or each go back to their own games... Neon himself? He planned to use his last credits on Dodonpachi and then head back home.
