"I really should meet them then, it's fun meet other artists.", wouldn't be hard to imagine Sumi was part of an art club back at the school in Japan, while living disguised as one of them. Junchi's question had a point, but he had an answer: "It is his rabbit. Its presence is to represent the innocence of the boy who decided to brave the seas, much like owner's own cat, which is seen around page seven, representing the captain's curiosity towards the unknown."

He showed them said pages: in sixth page something swiped a snake, and in page seven it was revealed the silhouette was of a one-eyed cat with scars of battles over the years, that swiped the snake and killed it. In Page 8 it is seen the boy and his now pet rabbit were in danger and the cat saved them. "Hm, this one shot in itself is one story, but one that I can serialize if I want to. Ends with him learning to be more mindful of his surroundings in an adventure."

Tadashi's purring caused Junchi to forget about his disappointment for some time. The sound of a cat's purr was weirdly relaxing. It was the auditory version of sitting on one of those vibrating chairs that massaged your back. Junchi scratched behind Tadashi's ear, wanting to see how long he could make him purr.

In the meantime, Junchi looked upon Sumi and his work in awe. "You're really good at this. One of my moms tells us stories like this all the time. They're really detailed, so when we ask a question there's always an answer, or it'll be answered later on, so we have to pay close attention to the story she tells."

Fiddling with his phone, Junchi brought up his contacts and looked back up to Sumi. "Want to trade phone numbers? You can come over to my house and meet Mommy and Arjean. They would really like you. You could come over too, Tadashi! My family really likes artists"

Tadashi closed his eyes and involuntarily pressed his head towards Junchi as his ears were scritched. Needless to sayn he kept purring until Junchi took a break to trade phone numbers.

"I can give you my number when I go back out of cat form but... I'm really comfy right now," Tadashi admitted as he curled up a little more. A little bit of sunlight was coming through the branches of the tree above them to hit right where he was sitting.

"I dont like the hurt cat but I killed snakes before too. And ate them."

Junchi's mention of a mother to tell them stories gave Sumi a tinge a jealousy. Sure, his brother had been the best he could for him, taught him things and cared of him so much, but never really had time for bedtime stories. And now he wondered "I wonder what it is like to have a mom...", a dream unknown to him.

"Ah, phone numbers, right.", he searched his backpack for the phone for a moment. Since Sumi was a new arrival, he didn't have much interaction with his phone, back then he relied on his bro's, but now he had his own. "I really want to meet them, Junchi! Plus I've yet to learn more about the island.", but then Tadashi's statement about the cat drew his attention. As expected, Sumi had an answer ready: "Oh, the Captain's cat and the Captain himself are seasoned adventurers, scars and wounds are proof of that."

Junchi's entire body became like a stone. Or more accurately for him, like a tree. Mentioning parents on this island was always a gamble. Mentioning his parents was the most dangerous gamble. Unlike most other families on the island, he had four parents, a grandparent, and was royalty. There was no way to make his situation seem undesirable.

Sumi seemed to skim that topic quickly enough for Junchi to slowly relax. Okay, good, he didn't ruin a friendship immediately.

"Sounds great! Here's my phone number." Junchi proceeded to say his phone number slowly for Sumi, neglecting to realize he probably didn't have his phone set up for that just yet. "We always like having friends around. Friends are family back home."

Tadashi also shifted a little bit in discomfort at the mention of mothers. Even with how much time had passed, and with him gaining human form, he missed his own mom. Even though he barely even remembered her at all. The clarification about the captain and cat having scars from adventure didn't seem to sway him much. He still didn't like the look of them. "I don't like scars. They mean people suffered and were in pain."

Fortunately they were moving past that quickly though to a more uplifting topic and Tadashi yawned wide as he curled up into a more comfy position. "Oh right, I could invite you both to my home. Since I have a home now," he cheerfully blurted out. Having nearly forgotten that was a thing he could do. "My sisters and I got adopted recently."

Seeing Junchi freeze has caused Sumi a brief moment of panic, where he waved both of his hands and frantically spoke with a nervous smile: "N-N-No, I'm not offended, really, this is not the first time family matters was brought up, I just could never get used to hearing that, but it does not upset me in the slightest!" He could almost smell the fear, or so he thought.

But thankfully, things resolved itself fast. "Hm, I think my relationship with my brother could be called an adoption too. I wouldn't have minded if he treated me as his servant, but maybe because I was small back when we first met he thought of me as just an unusual child and took me as his lil bro."

Good, Sumi wasn't offended, but it seemed like Tadashi was also uncomfortable with the topic. Junchi was thankful the topic moved on. Any longer and Junchi might have blurted out an apology and had to give something up to both of them.

"Congratulations!" Junchi said excitedly to Tadashi. "I don't think I've ever really been adopted. My dads got married to my moms a while ago and so we combined families, but we were always really close so nothing changed but us living together. I think me being adopted would be me finding a Guardian and protecting their family."

Tadashi had kind of been trying to relate Sumi's explanations about his "brother" to how Tadashi had lived with the 'old man' originally but the analogy didn't really work. He had been a cat then and really had only kept the man company and watched him draw. There was an emotional connection but not quite the same. No, Sumi and his brother seemed more like what Tadashi had with Esumi. More or less his first adoptive parent. "Sumi that sounds a lot like when Esumi found me and took me in back in Japan. That was like an adoption too."

He calmed down after they moved past the parents subject and purred happily at the congratulations. "It's weird but now I can live in a large house with Shiro and Tomo here instead of at the school. Mr. Del Bosque is pretty nice to us too, even if Tomo is weirded out by how fancy he likes things to be."

"Large house? I'd get lost in one, I think. Me and bro lived in a large apartment, where he divided the bedroom into a studio and bedroom, so I'm used to that kind of living space.", and clearly, any more than that was a little too much for Sumi. Having to stay by himself until his brother moves over, he found his room to be too quiet and vast for his personal taste.

But now he had a new thought... "Bro will need more space for his equipment once he moves over. If anything renting a small studio should do it. ... So, been to schools before Starlight Academy? I've been to one, living among humans is kind of complex when you have to hide what you are.", and in Sumi's case, while he did adapt quickly, he could very well recall the times he needed to hide his nature.
