"I live in a large house too! I gotta. I have daddies and mommies and two siblings and sometimes my Grandy and uncles and aunts come over. And I think I like Tomo. I don't like things really fancy too." Junchi was used to being reprimanded for coming inside the house covered in mud and dirt after playing in the forest. It wasn't usually a problem, as long as no one outside of the family spotted him looking so unseemly. He just had to make sure he didn't cause too much of a mess inside the house.

"Before Starlight I was homeschooled. On Ilada, we're homeschooled for the basics. This is my first everyone school."

Tadashi moved to change positions and rested in a patch of grass about a foot further away where another mote of nice warm sunlight was streaming. For comfort just as much as being able to nourish a new section of plants with his touch. "I was kinda homeschooled. When I started being a boy Esumi said I had to learn so she taught me when the cafe wasn't busy. The only school I know is here.

He batted lazily at a particularly long blade of grass as he turned and twisted in that almost fluid way that cats sometimes moved their bodies. "Your apartment Sumi sounds like what the 'old man' had for us. Or... well, him I guess. I was just a pet then." It sure was a million times easier then. Maybe happier, though Tadashi could see arguments both ways. Not that it really mattered- being with his siblings was worth dealing with any craziness.

"Since I was born with some minor knowledge of language as well as of my self, being home schooled was not a good option. That and bro had his own work to produce to sell at conventions as well as his own studies to conclude. It was still fun to be among other kids.", one undeniable fact Sumi learned is that living among humans had him learn more than he would have restricted.

For now, he was putting away the sketches and letting the ink dry on the inked pages, time to have the brush rest. With a gulp of water, he decided to lay down on the ground soon after, crossing his arms behind his head and looking at the sky.

"It's easier to homeschool back home. We're supposed to have really really large families. Someone's always supposed to watch us 'cause of our magic." Junchi wondered if he should elaborate, then decided against it. He wasn't going to admit that oricenta children, and by extension him, could be destructive when coming into their magic. His coolness factor would certainly be damaged by the idea that he wasn't excellent at wielding his magic.

"Buuut I like it here a lot. It's different and confusing and sometimes annoying but there's not a lot of kids back home and there are a lot of kids here I can become friends with."

"I don't think I really like school," mused Tadashi as he continued to play with the blades of grass- and yet never damaged them. "Learning is fine and I have to go to school because Rafael and the rules say so but i'd rather spend time drawing and running around as a cat."

His tail flicked against Junchi as he rolled around in the grass.

Sumi sympathized with them, specially Tadashi. Being a creature related to creativity himself, he could see what could bore the cat. "Maybe we should consider an art club or something. Back in Japan I wanted to join the art club, but they thought I was too young. I was 13, not 10!", he adorably puffed his cheeks at the thought.

Junchi looked genuinely offended by Tadashi's words. He never liked school... No, not everyone on this island loved to learn. He couldn't push the standards of his species onto another. Doing that has gotten him into a lot of trouble before. In fact, Junchi could think about this in a different way. Just because Tadashi didn't like school didn't mean he didn't like learning. Maybe school taught him stuff in a really annoying way! Or there were subjects he preferred outside of school.

Reasoning Tadashi's thoughts out helped Junchi relax. He still looked tense, but now he was mostly back to his friendly, happy demeanor.

"I really really like school, but my species was made to learn." The slight amount of bitterness in his voice surprised him. Perhaps he didn't completely get over Tadashi's comment. "B-But I like running around too! I can't get super messy at school because I'll get in trouble for dirtying everything." That had to be a good enough save. It wasn't like he was lying. For once, Junchi could say that with certainty.

Seeing Sumi get frustrated at people guessing his age wrong was pretty funny. "Really? I didn't realize." A mean comment, yes, but it was only teasing. "Annnd I don't do any artsy stuff, but since Arjean does, I'll join with them. Oh! And there's already an art club. Alternative Arts. It's for all kinds of arts."

Too young to join an art club? That confused Tadashi. But maybe the people were just really serious about art. Or jerks. At any rate, Tadashi poked at Sumi with one paw as they expressed their childlike annoyance.

"I don't want to be in too many clubs at once but I could probably enjoy joining that club. I guess I just didnt think pencil drawing was all that 'alternative'," Tadashi mused as he subtly crept a little further away from Junchi. It almost sounded like he'd maybe hurt the other kid's feelings somehow. Which was strange considering how just a moment before everything was fine.

Fortunately Junchi seemed to either get over it or hide their dismay and continue the conversation.

"Really, I'm fifteen now.", and since Sumi got a bit bored with his appearance, he began to change it, his body seemed to melt into a humanoid blob of black ink, before reforming into a human boy form. Black hair and cyan eyes, wearing deep blue shorts and a white shirt, but still looked twelve. "Alternative Arts? So pretty much expands from a common Art Club cliche?"

"When Arjean looked into it with Mama it said it's for all kinds of arts, that's why it included other kinds too. I think there's, uhhh, sculptures and wall art and stuff too. I bet I could do plant art there!"

Junchi looked doubtful at Sumi being fifteen, but that's how things were on this island. People often took Junchi for being older because of his intellect. Judging ages was always difficult here.
