Konishi sat on the bed in her dorm. For once, she wasn't in frilly lolita clothing. She wore a simple camisole with minimal lace around the top edges and a whimsical pattern she got from une nana cool and matching pyjama shorts to match. She was painting her toenails while she waited for the other line to pick up. The laquer was a dark vampy red. She hoped that she dialed the international calling code correctly.

"Hello?"
"Eustace speaking. Hello?"
"Papa!" She grinned, her face warm.
"Is that you, Connie? You sound so different on the phone."
"Of course it's me. I'm calling internationally. Mom walked me through the process before I left. What are you doing right now?" She dipped the brush into the pot of nail lacquer and went over her nails with another coat.
"Oh, same old, same old. I can almost taste the treasure nearby."
"Treasure-hunting again? I'm surprised you have time to pick up. You usually have your hands full. No luck yet, I suppose? Must be pretty elusive treasure this time around." She grinned again.
"I lost a good two days-worth of travel thanks to rough seas. I had a rogue wave blow out all my windows, but the hunt keeps me dry." Eustace paused for a moment, but continued, "How is school going, Connie? Make any new friends?"
"Yes. His name is Félix. He's an interesting fellow." She fell back on the bed with a wide smile on her face.
"A boy, huh? Are you already at that age?"
"I've been that age for a long time!" She puffed her cheeks. "Jeez dad. We barely keep in touch anymore."
"My dear Connie... time passes by so fast when you're my age. Tell me about Félix."
"We had a friendly competition. He lost, but I think he lost with some dignity. He's so oblivious, it's kind of cute."
"They always are around you, my dear. Take care of Félix for me, I'd love to see what he's made of."
"You'll love him, Papa. He's so sweet and harmless."
"Perfect! Oh, I can almost smell the treasure! I'll call you later Connie, promise."
"Come to Manto Carlos Island sometime. And try to call me on this number, okay? Love you Papa."
"I love you too darling. Goodbye, now."

Félix wasn't even certain he was allowed to be in the girl's section of the dorm. It was still light out, and he didn't plan on anything... heated with Konishi. Not that those sorts of things didn't happen, but he was being especially resistant to the thought of it.

She had asked him to come meet him to watch a movie. Harmless enough, and Félix didn't think twice in arriving after supper in his usual clothes and an unusual smile of optimism. Though he crossed through the girls' hall as discreetly as he could, the knock on Konishi's door was anything but.

"It's Félix," he spoke as loud as he'd dare to, with his male voice in a place full of females. He was pretty sure it was okay to see them this hour, but... well, it was a new experience. Félix had a lot to learn.

Upon her opening, Félix noticed one thing immediately. This wasn't a lacy dress. In fact, it was hardly clothes one would wear outside. Was it later than he thought? "Hey," he tried not to draw attention to the issue.

"I almost didn't hear you. You could have knocked a little harder." Her bottle of nailpolish was still in her hand when she opened the door. Konishi seemed to be somewhat upset by his sudden appearance, it felt like she would slam the door in his face and tell him to come back in thirty minutes. She opened the door a little wider. The damned brat was still too early. She had taken a shower after a simple dinner of mayonaise and cucumbers and her call went on for longer than she expected.

"Welcome to my dorm," Konishi announced. There were boxes still left unpacked in the doorway, but all the essentials seemed to have been in place. It looked like a relatively normal girl's room. Her taste in bedsheets at least matched with the way she dressed, though it was a light pink. There was a strange impersonal sense to the room. It was neither very clean nor very messy. The only thing that really spoke about Konishi was a photo by her desk of her clinging to her dad as a young girl.

She opened the door to her wardrobe to display a variety of dresses that seemed to be overflowing with voluminous layers of tulle and silk, all mostly dark and bold colours.
"Did you eat?" she asked. "Met anyone on your way here?" She teased.

"Sorry," Félix said automatically. Already he felt a bit disappointed in ruining her day. It didn't take much, did it?

He looked over Konishi's dorm. She was still in the midst of unpacking, but otherwise there was nothing that stood out. Nothing outside of a picture of her and what Félix supposed was her father. That was easily the happiest he had ever seen Konishi.

"I did, not long ago. I think most everyone else is still eating, I didn't see anyone outside." Félix admitted. For all his secrecy, the fact was the dorms were a bit bare at this hour. Probably not in another few minutes, so to Félix his timing was mostly impeccable.

"So what movie did you have in mind?" Félix asked, his eyes locked on the large spectrum of dresses.

"I didn't realise you were so set on not meeting people." Konishi said, sifting through her dresses as though she were browsing through files in a cabinet. "Not even one person. Or a whole group of them.I guess you must really enjoy my company if you're this early."

Félix would realise that Konishi's originally planned meeting time just about coincided with when people, in this case, girls, would start returning to their dorm from dinner, study or practice. Was it coincidence, or did she plan for Félix to walk to her dorm in shame? Félix would notice that her hair was still slightly damp at the ends. She must have anticipated he would be late.

She settled for a yukata to cover herself. Like to all her other garments, it was still rather dark, but it was the most vividly patterned item. The fabric had a radiant violent colour with a design of rabbit-eared irises on it. Although she wasn't undressing, she didn't seem to register that Félix was right there in the room with her, and more importantly, that he was of the opposite sex.

"I only have the Corpse Bride, The Nightmare Before Christmas and Stoker on DVD with me. If you like anime, I have Paradise Kiss. But I also have my laptop, so we could watch something on there."

She tied the Yukata's obi as though she was going outside. Tying the obi took about three minutes, and it seemed rather intricate as she moved the bow to the back. Having her dress took little under eight minutes in total.

Félix didn't see why it mattered how many people he saw or spoke to. Konishi had a strange habit of commenting on whatever she wanted. But perhaps that was just her different priorities showing up. He didn't respond either, outside of a shrug. Maybe he did like her company that much, or maybe he wanted to avoid a crowded girl's dorm.

Félix avoided looking at Konishi while she was dressing. Even if she didn't remove any cloths, she was already under-dressed enough to fluster him. He supposed Konishi would have appreciated a few more minutes.

“I haven't seen any of those,” Félix admitted. Really, he had seen very few movies. For whatever reason, his grandfather couldn't stand them. And when his grandfather couldn't stand something, he would make sure he never had to hear about it for as long as he lived.

Though 'only' about eight minutes, Félix felt the time pass more slowly. “How about Corpse Bride?” He sat on the couch and waited patiently for Konishi.

"Okay. I haven't actually seen Corpse Bride yet. It was given to me some time ago." Granted, her room had very little media, books, manga or even CDs in it. It seemed that Konishi didn't really care much for those kinds of things, much like Félix's grandfather. However, the girl seemed to have a strange fixation with newspaper though. Piles of it lay in a cardboard box. She must have got them daily.

Konishi went over to the TV set and set up the movie. Her back was adorned with a large bow, and Félix would get a clear view of her handiwork. Finally, when the disc was reading, she dimmed the lights down and went over to the couch, sitting comfortably close to Félix. Once they reached the menu, she set the language option to English with no subtitles and played the movie.

She reached for his hand and interlocked her fingers with his.

Félix her take his hand and play with his fingers. He smiled a little, but Konishi was watching the movie for now. It had a weird animation to it. Félix didn't know they did this sort of thing in recent days, but that's how much he knew about filming and animation.

He also found the entire atmosphere of the movie rather... peculiar. Not just the fact the main character involved a son in a noble house, but the whole world was bleak and slightly uncomfortable. The music was peculiar as well, though Félix ultimately liked it.

After some time, while Konishi was quiet, Félix finally managed to brave wrapping an arm around her. She didn't move away from him in disgust or anything else, so Félix enjoyed his small success. It wasn't until he realized Konishi was putting more of her weight against him that she was actually sleeping halfway through the movie.

Félix squeezed Konishi's arm gently, “Is this too boring for you? We can always try something else.” Félix wondered if one of the other movies was more her speed.

Her nails dug into his thigh when he squeezed her arm gently. Thankfully her powers did not activate, but her nails were hard and felt somewhat sharp.

"Oh." It appeared that he woke her suddenly, and she looked at him with a sleepy and disorientated expression, blinking her eyes slowly and moaning quietly like she awoke from some kind of dream. The way she woke up made it seem like she was having some kind of nightmare, or at least an unpleasant dream. She saw the screen. A pale faced Victorian man... Victor, was entertaining a skeleton dog, while a blue-faced Corpse Bride watched on. Emily. That was as much as she understood of the movie so far.

It was endearing to see her not smile or mock him for once, and be genuinely off-guard around him.

"Like another movie? I don't know. I'm a little hungry, actually. I just had a cucumber and some mayonaise for dinner." She yawned quietly. It sounded like Konishi wasn't that much of a cook. The small stovetop in the kitchen looked completely unused, and the most frequently used object seemed to be the kettle and the rice cooker. The sink didn't have a pile of dishes, but it looked like she ate sparingly.

She wrapped her arms around Felix's upper arm and curled up beside him, closing her eyes again. She sighed pleasantly. His clothes smelled fresh and his body was warm.

This was a Konishi Félix could enjoy. No mockery, no knowing smiles that seemed to spell pain for Félix. Instead, she seemed more genuine than usual. Unguarded, unprepared. Her nails didn't manage to break through his pants, so Félix didn't even mind her squeeze.

“What were you dreaming about?” Félix teased. He doubted she'd say his name, but it was worth it for a conversation starter. As Konishi got closer to Félix, he shifted himself so he could wrap his arm around her and pull her in.

“I could make you something if you'd like. I don't cook much, but I'm starting to learn.” Konishi felt soft, and not as cold as he might have feared. “I'm not sure I'm in for another movie, to be honest.”
