Eriko was still getting used to Manta Carlos and the Academy. There were a lot of little things that were different from what she was used to- for example, most people seem to eat way less than her. Stupid as it may have been, her competitive nature gave her a bit of pride in that. That's why when she saw someone who was getting close to matching how much she ate she wasn't just going to sit there and let herself be beaten. She sat at a table nearby, making sure that she made eye contact with the boy who she had designated her current rival before taking a large, obvious bite of her ridiculously stacked up plate.

Barty freaking loved the cafeteria. It was so nice to be able to eat lunch without someone telling him not to rest his arms on the table or not to eat too fast or not to have fourth servings.

He was happily in his own world, taking a bite from one of his sandwiches when Eriko finally caught his eye. He seemed momentarily confused, looking form her, to himself, back to her, to her plate, and finally back to her before it clicked. He knew what that look was, this was a challenge.

Without breaking eye contact, he proceeded to shove the rest of his sandwich down his mouth, grinning all the while.

Oh. Motherfucker. It was on.
She saw him take that bite- more important she saw him take that challenge. She grabbed a second fork and, not about to be the one to break eye contact either, started to shovel food fast into her mouth. She wasn't gonna let some rando show her up.

His idiot grin just got wider. He quickly drinks some water from a bottle to wash that down, before grabbing another sandwich and proceeding to tear into it just as fast as the first, his other hand reaching for another in preparation. Blakes did not back down from a challenge and neither would he.

Oni don't give up. That's for damn sure. That's why Eriko just kept shoveling, dropping one of her forks to grab one of her bread rolls and tear into it. She didn't give a shit how she looked, or if she was getting unwanted attention, all she cared about was making sure that this guy stopped eating before she did.
She also totally didn't care about the bloating she was definitely starting to feel.

They were definitely starting to attract some attention, with how loud and messy they're both being theres at least a couple students paying attention to their dumbass contest. Barty doesn't pay them much mind however, his eyes staying locked on his opponent, only breaking eye contact to flick back to the food he's eating before going back to her. He shows no sign of slowing down, even as he starts to sweat and his stomach starts to ache.

Eriko's stomach was telling her to stop. Hell, it was practically begging, but her pride was screaming to keep going much, much louder. She was starting to slow down, though, every bite getting slower and taking longer to chew, every gulp down getting more and more laboured.
But god be damned if she was gonna lose.

Barty was doing about as well as she was, so, not very well at all. He was definitely slowing down by the time the last few scraps were left on his plate, foot rapidly tapping on the ground under the table as he forced himself to swallow. As soon as his plate was clear he slammed his hands down on the table and rose to his feet, pointing directly at her.

"Ha! Finished first!" He wheezed, loudly, regardless of whether he actually finished first or not.

Eriko was done by the time he was pointing at her. She knew she had finished before hearing him hit the table, but she didn't see if she'd actually finished first either. She was totally sure that she did, though.
"Bullshit you did!" She growled, standing up and pointing at him. "I won there!"
She also very, very quickly regretted standing up so fast.

If they weren't getting attention before, all the pointing and yelling was definitely turning heads across the cafeteria. Barty at least paid them no mind, still shooting her a sharp grin.

"Nuh-uh, I tooootally finished first." He said, smugly. "Werewolves are really good at eating stuff, there's no way I'd have lost."

He then burped, rather suddenly, the smug face dropping breifly as he thumped his chest a couple times, trying to ignore how queasy he was feeling.
