An Evening With An Angel

He smiled and kissed her back, he felt amazing, being here with her, the past the things that happened to him seemed so far away. He felt alive, not just that he was surviving, he was finally living his life. At that moment, he thought it had all been worth it, the Shadow being bonded with him and all the madness that followed, it had brought him here, to his friends, and to this amazing girl.

He wrapped his arms around her, and watched the meteor shower with her, he couldn't imagine being anywhere else. The points of light continued to shoot across the sky and he came to a simple conclusion, this was a perfect moment, one he wanted to last forever. In the back of his mind he felt, the loneliness and envy coming from the Shadow.

In time the event came to a close, but he kept his arms around her, he turned to her, his calm, peaceful smile, "thank you for watching it with me," he leaned in and kissed her again. "You ready to head back? It's getting kinda late."

The meteor shower ended as quickly as it began, and Lila wished it had gone for longer. She was so carefree sitting there in James' arms. In that moment she wasn't worried about popularity, or how she looked, or whether anyone noticed her, all she wanted was to stay there forever watching the stars. She didn't even realise that James had the Shadow tagging along with him on the date. To her, it was just him, and if the Shadow was part of him then so be it. She just hoped it wasnt troubling him too much.

"Thank you for inviting me," she replied, smiling, before kissing James back. As he asked her if she wanted to go back to her dorm, she was sad. The night was coming to a close. In her ideal world, she could just stay up there in his strong arms, kissing and cuddling and stargazing. She would have to return to her dorm soon, but she wanted just a little while longer to enjoy the moment. It had been amazing first date and she was so lucky to have him with her.

"Just a little longer," she told him, cuddling up next to him. "We can go back soon." She got the feeling James was in no rush to return to his dorm, so she didn't feel too guilty asking him to stay for a while.

He smiled and nodded, keeping his arms around her he kissed her again, on the other areas of the roof, students and teachers were packing up and leaving for the night, but he was happy, just sitting here cuddling his girlfriend and watching the stars.

So for a while, they did just sit there, enjoying the stars and enjoying being with each other, it seemed perfect, like out of a dream, sipping hot chocolate and kissing his girlfriend, this was life, one he had never even dared dream of in the past, yet here he was living it.

He leaned in close, "you're amazing," he told her, and he meant it, every moment he spent wither seemed so special, made all the troubles he.d been through seem worth it. He kissed her, a long kiss, to show how much he cared, how much he appreciated being with her.

They lay there under the stars, hugging and kissing and drinking hot chocolate until there was nobody else left on the roof. The quietness turned to silence, the only sounds being the wind rustling the trees and their own breaths. They didn't talk much, but James did tell her she was amazing.

It was no secret that neither of them wanted to go back to their dorms yet, but James was right, it was getting late. So after one long kiss Lila sat up, no longer relaxed back on her boyfriend, and said, "I don't want to, but maybe we should go back now."

She had finished her cup of hot chocolate, which she placed next to James' bag, and looked towards him. She wished to wake up the next day and know that he would be just as happy as he was that night. She wished to see him smile as confidently as he was in that moment. She wished he never had to return to his old life, because she had only heard bad things about that.

She wished these things on every star in the sky.

He nodded and gathered the things he had brought, placing them into his bag, rising he offered his hand and helped her up, stealing another quick kiss as he did. Throughout this whole thing his smile never left his face, he had loved every moment up here, like her he wished it could go on forever.

He held her hand, and give it a gentle squeeze, "thank you this was amazing," he led her back inside and into the dorms, and on that night, James finally accepted what his life was. He finally accepted that he was home, that he had a life to live, it may a long time for him to heal for the horrible things he'd seen, but on that night, he took the first true step toward moving on. From then on, James would finally live his life.
