Chloe came back into consciousness slowly. Something was poking her in the back.

The first thing she realized was that she had a headache. Why did she have such a horrible headache? Second, she was completely naked. She didn’t usually sleep in the nude. And she usually covered herself with sheets instead of, uh… large, muscular shark-men? That meant the thing poking her back must have been…

Memories from last night came flooding back into her mind. She groaned. A voice in the back of her head was berating her for being unfaithful to her girlfriend, but she tried to push it out. She didn’t have time for guilt right now. She needed an ibuprofen. She had some in her drawer, right?

And didn’t shark-man say he was going to sneak out in the middle of the night? But here he was, spooning her, with his erection poking into her back. Slowly, carefully, she removed the muscular arm from her body so she could stand up.

Standing up would prove difficult. Stiff legs, poor balance. She would manage, barely.

Chloe would have found Lelei's arm to be heavier than it looked, requiring a little more extra effort on her part to move. Fortunately for her, once she did start moving it, Lelei rolled over in his sleep and took the rest of the weight off of her, and took his erection off of her too. With no recognizable lips to smack in his sleep, all that was left was for him to daintily click his many many teeth together and gurgle slightly. Few people gave any thought to the myriad of tiny differences caused by Lelei's shark-like physiology.

For awhile, Lelei remained in a mostly asleep state. A few small movements in his limbs and jaw signaled the onset of consciousness, and he was obviously very much awake down there. He only really woke up when one of his errant rolls took him completely off the bed and onto the floor with a very loud thud, followed by the sound of scrambling.

"Wha?! Huh?!"

Lelei had jumped back to his feet out of instinct and took a quick survey of the room. A second later, he remembered what had happened. When he looked out the window and saw daylight, he also knew he had screwed up big time.

"Oh no... Chloe? Chloe!"

Continuing to disregard clothes, he sought out Chloe to try and clear things up.

Chloe had stumbled into her bathroom, and was rooting around in her drawers, only to find that she didn’t have any ibuprofen. Her parents’ care package full of pills and first aid equipment that ‘everyone should have’ was still stuck in another universe, and she never remembered to get her own stock.

She took a deep breath in, and let it out slowly, looking at herself in the mirror. She was thirsty. The sink turned on, and she cupped her hands to drink the faucet water. She never remembered her mouth feeling this dry in her life.

THUD!

The half-demon heard a confused Lelei calling out her name. She opened the door to her bathroom to check on him. “You doing okay there, Lelei?” Her breasts, and her member, were still out in the open for Lelei to see. She wished she thought to throw some clothes on before rooting around in her bathroom. At least her hormonal situation meant she didn’t share his problem with morning wood.

"Chloe!"

The moment he spotted the door opening, he was relieved(somewhat). Lelei ran over to the opening door and nearly pulled it open ahead of Chloe, sighed a breath of relief as he saw that it was indeed her, and put his hands on her shoulders. The fact that they were both naked meant nothing to him as he was completely used to nudity of all kinds. But on the bright side, his morning wood was fading away now that he had control of faculties.

"I'm glad you're still here..."

His voice had lowered to a quieter level, like he was afraid of being heard.

"... We need to talk before either of us leaves this room."

There was seriousness and concern in his voice, but no anger or resentment. He was well aware that--to the best of his knowledge--none of what happened the previous night was her fault. From his own recollections, it seemed that it was Lelei taking advantage of a drunk teenage girl, and that was very concerning to him. He hoped that Chloe would understand and not hold too much against him, or worse.

"But, uh, lets get cleaned up first. You can use the bathroom first."

“…Yeah,” Chloe agreed, “We probably do need to talk. I, uh…” She sighed. “Do you mind if we talk first, clean up after? I can shower after you’ve left.”

Chloe grabbed a towel and walked past Lelei. She wrapped the towel around herself and sat on the bed. Now that it was brighter out, she could see the mess they made, dried though it was. Also, now that it was brighter out, she absolutely hated the light. It was definitely making her headache worse.

The half-demon looked to Lelei. “I think I owe you an apology. I was drunk and I didn’t realize what I was doing.”

Lelei followed Chloe's eyes to the dried spot on the bed that marked the peak of went on the previous evening. If either of them had been in a better mood, the spot might have been a slight-inconvenient but chuckle-worthy reminder of had transpired. Instead, it felt like a mark of shame despite how good it had felt at the time. No one should have to feel that way regarding the act of sex, but Lelei was certainly feeling it. As he looked back at Chloe, he could tell that she was in a similar boat.

Her request to talk first was respected by him, and he took a seat on the bed too. Everything he was going to do while in her dorm would be described as "respectful" to make up for how disrespectful he had been of her the night before.

"No. No. You might have come on to me, but you were not in your right mind. I should be the one begging for your forgiveness, Miss Chloe. I took advantage of your drunken state and that's pretty much a crime."

It hurt to say that, but Lelei could not deny the implications.

"What I did was wrong on many levels, and I hope you believe me when I ask for forgiveness. It was my responsibility to see you to safety last night, and I did pretty the opposite of everything I was supposed to."

It was very tempting for Chloe to accept that apology, to promise not to do anything against him, to not explain herself. That way she would have someone from campus security in the palm of her hands. He would owe her.

…No. That wasn’t okay. That didn’t even start to be an okay thing to do. This was her fault, and she wasn’t going to let him blame himself or take advantage of him for something that she caused. Even if she was the daughter of a demon lord, she was still allowed to have a moral compass.

Chloe looked at her feet for a while, then forced herself to make eye contact. “You weren’t in your right mind either. I… this might be hard to explain. When I saw you, I was scared that you were going to take advantage of me. I didn’t know you were campus security. So my plan was to drain your strength so I could fight you off if I had to. Because that’s a power I have. So I started off pretending to be really into you, so I could get my hands on you, and… well,” she put her hand on Lelei’s leg. “This is what it feels like when I use my power on people.”

Immediately, they started feeling that way again. The way they must have felt last night, like ten first kisses stacked up on each other; warm, happy, bubbly, cuddly. She only let it go on for a few seconds, just long enough to make her point. “Whatever you just felt, I think I feel something similar. When I do that, I mean.”

Lelei knew that there were professional issues with what he had done, possibly even criminal issues. He had slept with a teenage girl, who was a student, and he was part of the Academy staff. Should anything get out about what happened with him and Chloe, he would be in deep trouble. However, Lelei was primarily concerned with the physical and emotional well-being of Chloe. She was the one most affected by his actions, and her reaction would determine what kind of monster he thought he had been to her.

So when Chloe did not speak up for awhile, and only stared at the floor, Lelei's mind was beginning to manifest all the worst possible thoughts. He thought he had scarred her in some way, and that would truly be the worst.

"... Pardon?"

Her initial words confused him. How had he not been in his right mind the previous night? After a moment, he considered that she might have been right in a certain kind of way. Perhaps he had been overtaken by the presence of an interested drunk girl. But that was not him. Nothing about what she said made a lot of sense to Lelei, since it sounded like Chloe had done something and to the best of his knowledge he had done everything.

Then she put her hand on his leg, to which he initially flinched and moved to pull away from. Until that warm feeling came back again. It felt good, of course, and his member even started to respond, but he immediately knew what she was talking about and he kept his wits about him.

He looked at Chloe, he had a look of surprise on his face.

"I... I think I get it. Hm..."

Now Lelei was in a much different position, a somewhat more complicated one.

"... So... Were either of us willing last night? I don't know how to parse our actions last night, or at least my own... B-But I didn't hurt you, right? That's the most important right now."

“I feel really guilty about this,” Chloe said. “I… have a girlfriend, and I don’t want to hurt her. And I don’t want to prove every fucking stereotype about demons right, either. But here I am,” she let out a bitter laugh. “Corrupting you into doing unspeakable things with my sixteen-year-old self. My father would be so proud.”

She wasn’t entirely being sarcastic. Gabriel would probably legitimately be proud of her daughter for seducing a security guard to avoid trouble for underage drinking, even if that wasn’t actually her plan. At least she didn’t have to worry about him being disappointed in her.

She fell back on her bed, towel barely protecting her decency. “None of this is anyone’s fault, though."

It seemed that Chloe was unhurt and uninjured, and that took a load off of Lelei's mind. Whatever bad things they had already committed, him physically hurting Chloe would have been too much. Not that there was much good left for him once that concern had been taken off his shoulders. There was still the matter of him sleeping with a sixteen year old girl student. The fact that she was so young was worrying, but paled in comparison to the whole staff-student thing they had going on.

Chloe was faring no better if her words were any indication. Where her body was fine, save for the soreness he probably caused for her by virtue of size difference, her mind and heart were being hit hard by guilt and possible shame. Lelei could empathize with her, especially about stereotypes.

He had worked endlessly to make sure that he did not fit the stereotype of "shark monster", one that most land dwellers were quick to assume was hostile. Yet from the other side, he had tried to stop his own people from seeing him as just some "boy lover" with a particular taste in land dwellers. Only the former had proven to be successful, and the latter was only tolerated because of his service to the kingdom. It was probably about the best he was ever going to get.

Lelei gave Chloe a sympathetic gaze as she flopped back onto the bed. He wanted to adjust her towel to be more concealing, but he feared putting his hands anywhere near her. Instead, with a sigh, he stood up and started gathering up his own clothes.

"Well, I'm glad you're not hurt because of me. We can't change what's happened now. It's regrettable but in the past.

Now we both need to deal with the consequences honestly and with our heads up."

Before he slipped his pants on, he went to the bathroom to quickly clean his nethers with some water.

"We at least acknowledge our mistakes and see where we went wrong. That's more than most people can say."

He finally got his pants on and went back out to Chloe.

"And if it makes you feel any better, I don't think you're a bad demon girl. You just made a mistake is all."
