((dere ya go <3))

Charlie sighed deeply. He really was a bit daft, wasn't he? "Yes, yes. I didn't mean literally," she called over to him, but the malice had reluctantly been dropped from her voice. The boy was hopeless; there wasn't any point in correcting him.

She watched him impassively as he splashed about in the water, remaining silent. Finally, a bit of peace and quiet. She considered going back up to the school, but it was a Saturday, and there was nothing there for her to do. Besides, the memories around the beach were much less morbid then those surrounding the school.

After a few minutes Daniel walked back towards her, scratching himself as if he had fleas, and Charlie yawned lazily, watching him in her peripherals. "O' course you do! Anyone in their right mind wants to be like me!" She grinned toothily, no warmth in the expression. "Maybe you're not out of your tree, after all." A pause. "Maybe." There was no point in spoiling the boy just because he was dead.

((Yay, that is great. XD Messa happy! ))

"Yes, yes. I didn't mean literally,"

Daniel smiled at her words and laughed a little. "I know Charlie, I´m just messing with you" he said slowly and looked down at his own feet for a moment, then he glanced at the woman again. "But you are right, I guess the way to happiness for me was the things you just said." he noticed a small insect walking over the sand and examined it with curious eyes as it walked, but he did not try and pick it up and just watched it until it dissappered under the sand and then it was gone.

Daniel looked at her when she talked again and he tilted his head to the side with a cute smile. "Then I guess I am not as stupid after all" he said to her and smiled happily. "and a maybe is good coming from you" there was nothing mean about those words and it was true since something like that from Charlie was pretty much as a really strong encouragement and it made Daniel feel so much better then before. "and I will show you that I am not....out of my tree" he sounded very sure of himself as he said this.

Charlie grinned evilly. "Then I should yell at you more. You'd be ecstatic, yeah?" The kid was still annoying, but at least he wasn't sniveling any more. She watched him impassively through heavy lids as he inspected something wriggling in the sand, feeling kind and generous for putting up with him. He probably hadn't talked to anyone for ages - not a lot of people could see ghosts.

"Don't be too happy." She squinted menacingly at him. "All I said was maybe. Don't get me wrong, you're a right nutter."

He was going to show her that he wasn't insane? She arched an eyebrow, a smirk twitching the corners of her lips. "Good luck with that, luv."

"Then I should yell at you more. You'd be ecstatic, yeah?"

Daniel looked at Charlie again when she said this and he thought for a moment and was just about to say something like that would not be needed when he noticed that she had to be making fun of him again. The boy frowned a little and then he smiled and tilted his head to the side. "I don´t know, I do not think it would make me sad. But not sur it would make me happier" he smiled a little more and revealed his small teeth. She was weird and not very nice from what one could see, but yet she was not that bad and she made him feel better about himself.

"Don't be too happy." She squinted menacingly at him. "All I said was maybe. Don't get me wrong, you're a right nutter.

Daniel thought for a moment and then he nodded, he did not really understand that part about him being nutter. But Daniel did not ask as he would most likely seem stupid and he did not want Charlie to think him more stupid then what she already did think. "Okey I will not be to happy, but I feel much better now then before. I am sure things will turn out right for me, it just has to continue as it does now and everything will be fine." he sat down in the sand again and then he calmly pulled the backpack to him and opened it and began to look around inside of it. He tilted his head to the side and seemed to search for something. But then he frowned a little and shook his head. "Oh my Winnie the Pooh book is not here, oh yeah I let Sabriel borrow it before, well I guess I will just have to ask him to guve it back then." he talked more to himself then to Charlie when he said these last words.

"Good luck with that, luv."

Daniel did not really get it at first, but then when he thought about what she had said and what he had said he noticed it and blushed a little. "Yeah I really might need that don´t I?" he asked her and scratched himself on the back of the head for a moment.

Charlie shrugged in a vague take-it-or-leave-it gesture and lay back down. "Alright, if you say so." She bared brilliant white teeth back at him in a not-entirely pleasant smile. "But if you change your mind. I'm quite good at yelling," she teased, dark eyes flashing with unspoken mirth.

"Good outlook." She grunted, glancing over at the runt of a boy. He was sitting down in the sand a few feet from her, digging in his bag. "For what it's worth, hope yer... whatever goes well." She waved a light brown hand in lofty disinterest.

"You?" She snorted, arching her eyebrows at him. "Yeah, you could use all the luck you can get, if you ask me." A pause, and then, with mild interest: "Out of curiosity, how exactly do you plan on proving you're not crazy?"

Daniel smiled at her words and then he nodded slowly. "Yeah if I ever need someone that can yell at me I will come to you, promises." he told her with a bright friendly smile on his young face and then he thought for a moment, he had started to understand the woman better now, she was not the kind to be all friendly but in her own way what she said now could be much like something friendly to do.

The little boy glanced at her when she talked to him again and he could see that what he said did not at all interest the woman much, well Daniel did not at all mind that little matter since he had not actually been talking to her when he searched his bag, more to himself and all that. He yawned a little in a slow way and then he calmly closed the bag again and placed it on his side on the sand. He had to find out where Sabriel lived and go there.

To the last things Daniel frowned a little and thought for a moment, then he calmly frowned as he thought what he would reply to what she said. "Well I don´t know how I could prove that I am not crazy" he told and he was honest as he could not think of a way to prove that he was not crazy. "Because I think that if a person tries so hard to prov that they are not crazy they in fact are rather crazy" he placed one hand on his cheek as he said this and then he frowned a little.

She hummed her agreement, standing up and dusting sand off her limbs and torso. "Suppose you're right, Daniel," she said through a yawn, retying her jacket around her waist and checking her watch. It was almost seven - she'd need to leave soon if she wanted to take a shower before the communal bathroom filled up. Something about showering with dozens of girls turned her stomach cold - it was something she'd like to avoid, to say the least.

"Hope you find your pooh book, Daniel." She grinned at him, knowing he'd thought she wasn't listening. "I'm leaving now. Don't follow me or anything, yeah?" Ghosts often tagged along behind her, and she was trying to nip the problem in the bud. "Nice meeting you, though. Have a nice..." - she looked the short boy up and down skeptically - "...life. Okay?"
