Am I Really Losing My Mind??

Deacon had been feeling rather uneasy as of late. His mind had been drawing blanks since the day he had made a new friend. That day at the lake, he met Eloi, a mute. Being the loudmouth that he was, he took a chance and tried to talk to her, not knowing she was mute. Like that was supposed to stop him from talking. Luckily for him, she went along with and the two became friends.

While they managed to get acquainted he learned her power, telepathy. That meant that words in his mind that were not his own were the closest things to a voice he would ever hear from the poor girl. That wouldn't stop him from talking though. He liked to talk; it was practically his life!

While the two were outdoors together, she was picked on. That had infuriated the mentally deprived Deacon. He had engulfed some guy into flames, then had to witness Eloi freaking out, unable to control her power, which he was a victim of. All of this killed the poor pyro inside.

He needed to take some time off to reflect on all this, so he opted to go up to the roof for some alone time. He walked over to the edge then looked up into the night sky. He just hoped that Eloi would feel better. He blamed himself for everything that happened. She had explained to him through thoughts that she was scared of people and for people, and he now knew why. He just couldn't forgive himself for this. He wondered how he would be able to live with himself after all this. All of this he pondered as he stood there on the roof, gazing off into the noctune horizon.

Eloi was feeling a little better after the day she'd blacked out. She didn't blame Deacon, or Abigail, or anyone. Only herself. She should have explained to Deacon how horrifying it was for her to be around be groups of people at one time. She should have just explained to Deacon that all she did was hurt people.

Perhaps the sedatives were a good thing afterall.

She didn't know, all she knew is that her powers weren't under her contorl, and it caused pain to others. She could have killed Deacon! She could have killed one of those people in the city if Abigail hadn't come... Abilgail... She was such a sweet lady. She could control her powers. But Eloi wondered why she couldn't control her own.

The roof looked like a good place to clear her head. She'd be alone, away from everyone else. She'd be alone... She hated being alone, but she hated using her powers more. Why was life so tricky like that? You couldn't have anything you wanted without having something you didn't want to go along with it.

Deacon was now sitting near the edge of the roof, trying not to fall, while thinking back to that time when she passed out. If only he had known beforehand that she was afraid...none of this would've happened. What to do now, he constantly thought.

He blamed himself for not knowing before that she couldn't control her power, for her being picked on and shoved off continuously. He wondered if she was alright and he'll ever be able to get near her ever again. He sighed softly as he covered his face in shame, not knowing if anyone else was around, though his burning red hair was highly noticable.

As Eloi came onto the roof, she heard someone sobbing. She walked a few more paces until someone was in her view. That someone was Deacon. Her breath stopped short, and she didn't know what to do. She probably could have run away and he never would have seen her. Though he... he was crying.

Eloi went over to him, and tugged on his ear a bit. She sat down next to him, silent, and hugged her knees. She hoped that she hadn't made him feel this way. Though... she knew in her heart that he did. You didn't have to be a telepath to figure that out. "Deacon.. I'm... Sorry..." Sending her thoughts to him.

Deacon just sat there, feeling pain, in more ways than one. He heard footsteps drawing closer to him, but didn't bother to see who or what it was that was coming toward him. With his watery red eyes, he looked up then turned to the person sitting beside him, Eloi. He felt her tugging his ear, like he had asked to do whenever he talked too much. He could hear her thoughts. In reality, he should be the one saying sorry. "No...I'm sorry..." he said while shaking his head.

Eloi just looked at him, unsure how of to comfort him. It wasn't his fault, he just wanted to be her friend, and help her. She understood that, which is why she probably didn't want to say anything. "Deacon... I could have harmed you terribly. But you still want to be my friend?"

She raised an eyebrow, and looked at him with a confused expression. She didn't understand why.. But she was grateful.

Though it didn't seem to be his fault at all for everything that happened, he felt as if it was. He could hear her thoughts again. She was right; she could have possibly hurt him, but he knew he couldn't possibly blame her for anything. And he does want to be her friend; it was all he wanted at this point. He turned to her. "O...of course I wanna be yer friend..." he answered simply.

Doubt clouded Eloi's eyes, and she couldn't help but wonder why. Why did he want to be her friend? Why did he want to be around someone who was so close on the verge of losing her mind? Who was so unstable all the time? She didn't understand... But admired him for saying that he still wanted to be around her.

"But why.. I'm so.. dangerous."

Though she didn't really feel that this would be right, he would still persist and insist. A look of determination shrouded Deacon's face as he glanced at her. That was just like him, insisting on being around others, not wanting to give in too easily. He shook his head. "Dangerous? Nah. I've seen worse, a lot worse."

As Deacon insisted his experience with much worse than an unstable telepath, Eloi shook her head helplessly. She didn't want to hurt him... She would never be able to forgive herself if something happened to her only friend. Eloi coulnd't have friends. She got up from sitting beside him, and moved to a corner on the roof. She held her knees to her chest, and wept. She wanted friends, but someone as dangerous as her shouldn't have friends. People who had befriended her were good people, and didn't deserve to be harmed, or put in harm's way for any reason whatsoever. She... wasn't worth it.
