He could hear the thoughts in his head. He was afraid of her being afraid of him. She claimed that wasn't the case, but will be able to find it in his heart to believe that? He wouldn't want this to ruin their friendship, nor would he let it. For once in his life he needed to take a moment to think of how to respond as he felt her cold hands on his light skin. After a moment of his own thought, he answered. "Why be afraid...period...? I am harmless...well...at least most of the time..l."

Eloi tugged on his ear, and she shook her head. He wasn't listening to her. "Listen, I just don't want to hurt you. That's all this is about..." She wished she could make him understand, despite the fact that communication wasn't exactly the mute's strong point. She had never really needed it before. No one paid enough attention to her to care what she had to say...

He shut his eyes tightly at the tug of his ear. He just didn't understand her. Will he ever be able to understand? Hopefully so. Every strength comes with a weak point. In Deacon's case, his greatest strength was talking. He was such a loudmouth most, if not, all of the time. His weakness, listening. He would try, time and time again, to listen, but most things seem to go in one ear and out the other. He sighed in defeat, his eyes remained closed. "I..."

He just sat there, wondering what could possibly happen if he were to just stay here, or just stay away like she probably wanted. If he were to go against her wishes and stay here with here, chances are that he would get hurt, by her, physically. He even said he would stay with her, but why does it have to involve this sort of risk!?If he were to leave, chances are that she would continue to be alone and miserable, and he did NOT want that! He would still be alone too. It would be a no-win situation.

What can he do now, since she obviously doesn't want to hurt him and he knew that. He would now have to make a choice that could most likely prove to be life-changing. Stay and possibly get hurt, or leave her alone and stay alone as well. He didn't want to be alone anymore. He absolutely hated being alone. It was the worst aspect of his life. His big mouth has only drawn people away from him. What can he possibly do!? "How foolish of me to believe that you wanted me to just stay away. I'm sorry. I...I don't know what to do..." He...really...didn't know what to do now.

Their friendship was hopeless. Eloi was helpless. She was cast down on her knees at the dispense of her uncontrollable powers. Though she failed to realize all she needed to do was to practice with Abigail, and such a problem could be fixed. But in her mind controling her powers seemed like such an impossible task that she simply did not want to try.

"How foolish of me to believe that you wanted me to just stay away. I'm sorry. I...I don't know what to do..."

Eloi looked into Deacon's eyes. She found herself captivated by one's eyes often. You couldn't lie in your eyes, they always held truth. Poor Deacon was truly lost, and unable to understand her. She was mystery to him that he could not wrap his mind around. She wondered what that felt like.

What was she supposed to tell him? Her muted silence stilled the night, and she was unable to project her thoughts. She had no thoughts, only emotion.

He refused to let any of this ruin their friendship, which is he all wanted. He just needed a friend, and she probably knew that by now. But why does have to come with a price such as this. He didn't want that. His innocent looking red eyes sparkled, and watered as he gazed at her. What could he do? What was he supposed to do? He didn't know.

He sat there, without saying another word. The poor boy could only anticipate what could happen, depending on what he would do. What can say to her now? What was he supposed to say to her now. He didn't know. He was totally lost, in every possible meaning of the word. He couldn't hear any thoughts now, probably because she didn't have any at the moment.

Deacon continued to tear, wondering if he could really be better off without Eloi. He didn't want to be alone anymore, nor did he think that she could be better off alone. But how was he supposed to deal with this!? How could he possibly go on like this!? He didn't know. He didn't know anything at this point. Just great. He got up, tears dripping down his cheeks, then moved closer to the edge of the roof and stood there.

"What...am I...supposed...to do...?" That was like a mystery to him right now.

Eloi looked at Deacon, lost in an abyss of confusion; a decision she didn’t know how to make. She rubbed her eyes, and wiped a few tears from Deacon. This was so hard on him. It was hard on her too. Eloi wished she could just disappear, and wished that she had not pained Deacon this way. Not only would she hurt him physically from her frantic powers, but she was also wounding him mentally and emotionally. Eloi bit her lip, and placed a hand on his shoulder.

“I don’t have all the answers, Deacon. But… if you’d like, we can figure them out together.” Eloi looked at the boy with hopeful eyes, and perhaps if he agreed, she’d wrap her arms around him, and they’d be happy again. Right?

Maybe if they pretending like Eloi didn’t have powers, and she got a notebook to write in, and she wouldn’t have to use her powers, there would be no problem! But Abigail wouldn’t like that… Not at all… Abigail wanted Eloi to understand her powers. And to a certain extent, Eloi did too, but she was scared of them, to be honest. Though Eloi refused to think about the future, and decided to focus on the present; her friendship with Deacon.

What was he supposed to do. He didn't have an idea. How could he come up with an answer to something this difficult? He wished he didn't have to suffer such a high risk like this. This was definitely not what he wanted. He felt her cold hand on his shoulder. He could hear her thoughts which were her replacement for a voice. Maybe she was right, then again, who does haveall the answers? He didn't know. He turned to her and nodded in agreement with her statement. "Yeah, let's work this out together." he said.

Eloi looked at Deacon, her face was absent of a smile, or life, though there was a new hope in her eyes. She wrapped her arms around Deacon for a brief moment, and then returned to staring off into the horizon and then returned her gaze back at Deacon. “I… Just won’t use my powers anymore. I don’t have them. I’ll only use them for communication.” Her eyes drifted for a moment, and then she bit her lip. “Want to do something?”

She wanted to change the subject, change the mood. She was tired of being stuck in this permanent problem, and was ready to do something exciting. Eloi wanted to get to know Deacon better, and become better friends with him.

He just looked at her, a dead look on his face. He just wasn't sure what was the right emotion to feel right now. He didn't know if he should be happy, or sad, or angry. He really didn't know. But when Eloi hugged him briefly, a positive feeling, an awakening was now fueling Deacon. He wanted this friendship to work, in any way possible and when she vowed through thoughts that she would only use her power for communication, he simply took her word for it and hoped for the best. Not much else he could do about it. This was going to take some getting used to.

When she asked if he wanted to do something, he quickly nodded, rarely remaining quiet. If it would break them out of their emotional slump, he would do anything. But what could they possibly do now together he thought. Deacon glanced at Eloi with interest and asked, "What do you have in mind?"

Tapping her chin, she thought for a moment, what on earth could they do? They had met on the beach, and had been to the city. She shrugged, and then a small smile crept across her face. “Do you dance?” She stood, and offered her hand out to him.

They could dance there, in the night, under the moon and stars. It would be lovely and release their frustration, and bring them closer together. It sounded lovely. “Would you care to join me?” She projected to him, and took the sides of her pants, with a pathetic curtsey. She grinned, and made a small giggle. Her light purple eyes showed a new life in them, completely contrary to the dullness before. She was going to change all of this, and she wasn’t going to let some stupid power interfere with her life. Yes, she would always have her emotional burdens from the people who had wronged her, but now she had Deacon to be with her, and to help her through that. Or, and least she hoped.

She wasn’t sure if she completely trusted him, but at least he was there if she ever decided to do so.
