For once, it was looking like a slow news week in Manta Carlos. After the excitement caused by the Gods at Carpe Noctem, things were starting to slow down, and Natalie found herself with little to do. Her investigation into the Volkov's held her interest so far, but she had hit a snag, and she wasn't going to get paid for things she was planning to write. Partly to make some extra cash and partly to keep herself entertained, she'd agreed to write an article for the MC Print about the recent sudden changes to the local Oricenta population. Not the most exciting work, but it would help pay the bills for the time being.

Besides, even if it didn't interest her too much, this was Manta Carlos. There was always a story to find.

In an effort to make things more interesting for herself, she decided to reach out to one Arida Leizu, calling her agent earlier in the day to arrange for an interview at a cafe. While there were likely less high profile Oricenta who would have been easier to arrange a meeting with, she had an ulterior motive for calling out the actress specifically. Her association with Theía Modeling connected her to a great deal of the city's entertainment industry, and she didn't want to pass up a chance to poke her nose into that world. If she was going to find some interesting tidbits in this story, she figured there was a good chance she'd find it there.

Even if it wasn't stuff she could use in an article without making her look like a tabloid journalist, poking her nose into some celebrity gossip would at least keep her entertained.

The meeting had been arranged to take place in the afternoon, Nat herself had arrived early. She sat at a shaded table outside the cafe itself, hot cup of coffee in hand as she calmly waited for the interviewee to arrive.

Ade wanted to show up early, yet through no fault but her own, interviewer was there first. She bit the bottom of her lip a bit. Was it better to arrive "fashionably late?" No, of course not. That was just her trying to make an excuse to leave and avoid social interaction for the day.

The journalist must have seen her by now. She had been standing near the doorway for a few seconds now, and she already had someone behind her pushing her to move. She needed to hurry up. Stop stalling, dumbass.

Ade sat in front of her interviewer. Natalie was her name if she remembered correctly. Wait, shouldn't she have greeted Natalie before sitting down? That would have been less spontaneous. Less rude.

Sitting her bag beside her, Ade gave the woman a gentle smile. Much different her usual shit-eating smile. "Hope I didn't keep you waiting too long. Let me just... get set up." Inside of Ade's bag was a container of fruits and vegetables and plenty of water bottles. After taking out a container and cool bottle of water, she removed a laptop, which she carefully positioned in front of herself to avoid it getting dirty as she ate.

Natalie spotted her subject for the day at the door, taking those few seconds of indecision as she stood there to quickly size her up. Someone seemed a little unsure of herself, Nat just figured she probably didn't have too much experience with the press just yet.

If she was at all bothered by her sitting down without an introduction, she didn't show any sign of it on her face. She simply kept a friendly smile on her face, watching the woman make herself comfortable. She quirked an eyebrow up as she started pulling out the fruits. She thought they might have something to eat and drink while they were here, but she didn't expect her to bring her own.

"Oh, not at all, I only arrived a little while ago." She said. "I appreciate you meeting me here on such short notice, Mrs Leizu."

She offered a hand for her to shake, her cat ears twitching a little bit as she focused her attention on her.

"I'm Natalie Kurono, with the Print. I don't want to take up too much of your time here, I'm sure you're quite busy after all, but would you maybe want to have a quick bite before I take your statement?" She added with a slight, playful smirk. "Just so we can get comfortable, of course."

Ade gave a quick introduction of herself and gave the woman's hand a firm shake. "I'm not too busy. I've had some time to work on personal projects. I need to get out more anyway. So this is nice. I'd like to get the interview started, however. I can eat and do the interview... Unless you'd rather avoid interrupts?

While waiting for a response, Ade took a bite from a sliced up piece of mango as she booted up her laptop. It may have been rude to use a laptop and eat during an interview, but it kept her calm. She liked being able to take notes on important stuff said and to have something to look at other than directly at a person.

"Oh, it's fine. I'm ready to go right now." She rested back in her chair, one leg folded over the other as she pulled her own pen and pad from her pocket. She had her own little recorders for interviews like this, but sometimes she preferred to do things the old-fashioned way.

"So, as you know, I ask you to come out here to discuss the recent changes to the Manta Carlos' Oricenta population." She began. "For our readers that are a little more unfamiliar with your species, could you give us a brief overview of why the changes occurred?"

She started on topic, figuring she'd give Ade a chance to settle in. Hopefully, if she got a little more comfortable and relaxed, Nat would be able to needle her for more information.

Ade's raised her eyebrows at the question. She certainly didn't expect anyone to care about her species. Not now, at least. Maybe when they come out of hiding a year ago, but now... Ade knew she would need to report the popularity of all of this when she got back home. Right now, she needed to be careful with her words.

"The changes occurred based on how Ilada felt. Ilada is what could best be described as our god, though they are treated as an additional parent, or at least an important family member. The most recent changes were appearance only.

"See, Ilada is made up of four powerful elementals to create one elemental that is more powerful than them separated. Before the change, they were various levels of being owl-like and deer-like. The one who was most owl-like lost interests in owls and decided to change form, and wanted the rest of us to follow along as well. We're the representations of Ilada, so we have to match the pattern.

"Before that, we went through some power changes too. We've been going through a lot to update ourselves for modern society."

While Natalie wrote all of that down, Ade took another bite of manga, then went on to type on her own computer. She needed to be prepared, so she wrote up some possible questions and possible answers beforehand. Now that she had a better idea of how the interview would be, she wanted to fix up some of her assumptions.

Natalie nodded along as she spoke, writing down small notes on the details. Her memory was pretty good, she didn't need to write all of it down, just enough to remind her of everything later.

"Interesting." She noted, leaning forward in her chair. While Nat was only really interested in the journalistic sense, this was still all new information to her. She wasn't particularly informed on the Oricenta species, and with how naturally curious she was, she did want to commit some of this to memory. "Does this Ilada often make changes like this? Is there any sort of record about how your species appeared in the past?"

She waited a little before speaking again, not wanting to bombard her with too many questions. "How do members of your species generally feel about them? Is it an inconvenience?"
