After the Meeting, a Chance Meeting

Liliana stepped out of the classroom as soon as the meeting ended, mostly because she wanted to text KirMir and let them know she'd possibly be running a bit late tomorrow. As she sent her text, Liliana looked up and saw a dark-haired boy, leaning against the lockers like he was waiting for somebody. And as she put her phone away, Liliana realise that she knew him, well, sort of. They had spoken very briefly the day that the Halcyonites had been given a tour and a rundown of the school and its policies by the student council and the administration as they tried to help everyone get acclimatized to their new home.

"Hey there, it's Gavin, Gabriel?" Liliana said with a nod as she looked up and down the hall and saw that it still practically empty. The voices of the other council members coming from the classroom behind her as they continued to discuss the attack and how it was affecting people. It was a hot topic that divided a lot of people.

"I was at your first-day orientation," Liliana remarked quite simply when Gabriel asked her how she knew his name. She was getting quite used to the fact that not all students remembered her even though she had been in their orientation or welcoming groups.

"You may or may not remember me since I was helping out a small group of younger students find their way to their lockers," she explained.

"I get it, no worries," Liliana nodded not at all offended and smiled understandingly at Gabriel when he said he didn't recall her. "It's totally expected, I can imagine all of it has been a bit overwhelming, " she said.

"How have things been lately? Are you finding everything okay?" Lily asked curiously, wondering how everything was working out for the people, more importantly, students from Halcyon.

Liliana watched Gabe as he talked and noted his body language. Something was up, and just to confirm this she did something, something that Gabe wouldn't really notice or if he did notice anything it would seem that Liliana was lost in thought for a second, Liliana let herself see Gabe's soul. It was not sparkling, not like someone who was fully content, there was a distinct lack of shimmer to it. Blinking, Liliana returned to herself and apologised for a momentary distraction just in case he had noticed anything.

"Are you sure?" Liliana asked then as she gave Gabe a kind, yet concerned look. "Are you sure there isn't anything I can help with?"

"I do know what sudden life-changing changes are like," Liliana said as she looked down the hall for a second before continuing, "My parents left the island a few weeks ago, packed everything we owned up, and went back to the Narrow Reality leaving me here in the dorms by myself," she told him with a tiny I-get-it type shrug.

"Hmm, actually, maybe not, or maybe I can to some extent..." Liliana replied thoughtfully, and perhaps, somewhat cryptically.

"I know Angelo, he's my right hand ... or left-hand guy,"she added with a slightly amused grin at her bad pun. "The council, well, we are trying to do something to calm fears, inform people, minimize things if we can," she explained.

"I am also a member of and good friends with Ignatius of the Hereafter club. I believe there are plans to get involved, open the doors, help out there too if we can," she said to Gabe, not at all put off by his sullen attitude.
