Spearheaded by James Havoc, who is helping to organize the program, Starlight Academy is pushing out an official self defense program. Classes are open to everyone, student and faculty, and run at 3:15 to 3:45 in both the morning and afternoon.
There is no fee, and students are encouraged to come when they have time, since the classes run every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Class sizes are fairly small, and the school is compensating trained instructors for their part in educating students.
The classes focus on self defense, not the use of powers, in light of multiple crimes where the victims were rendered powerless. While many might find the idea of learning to physically defend themselves silly in light of their powers, the school is running an awareness campaign in the month of July to highlight the program.
Please keep in mind this is a self defense course. That means a lot of 'how to break this grip', focusing on running away, and ways to stun an opponent long enough to escape and call for help.
The program is currently accepting students, and is also still hiring (qualified) faculty and citizens to teach classes.
