Shay was unsure what the old man was thinking, but he didn't seem mad or anything negative like that from what he could tell. Probably confused at most, which probably meant everything was okay so no issues. "Yeah, it was fun playing in the snow while it lasted," Shay nodded. As they pulled into the driveway, Kadasha sat up and looked around her new home. They had been driving for a while, so this was probably far away from the orphanage, but was it any closer to the park? Farther, maybe? She didn't know. She was distracted by the three orbs traveling along her side of the car, which had already vanished when her attention snapped back. While Kadasha was busy looking out her window, Shay added one more thing to address a problem with what Noel had planned. "Kadasha doesn't really like being in large crowds."

At Shay's comment about her not liking crowds, Noel looked at Kadasha for a long second, his expression patient, but unreadable. It seemed like everything he suggested would have some sort of problem, at least for the moment, anyway.

Deciding not to comment on this, Noel just got out of the car and opened the door for Shay and Kadasha. "Home sweet home," he told them as he got their bag out of the trunk of the car and led both of them into the house that was simply but warmly decorated.

"Would you like something to eat first? Maybe a sandwich, or some cookies and milk?" Noel offered when they were inside the house, "or did you want to rest up for a bit?"

Kadasha got out of the car and followed Noel to the house, keeping her head down, half-buried in Shay's head. The hesitance in her walk was clear. She remained silent as ever. Meanwhile a small sword and shield made from a green, ethereal energy appeared in Shay's hands, no bigger than a butter knife and a saucer, the former of which the toy idly swung in front of himself. "No monsters here!" the toy dutifully reported with the archaic enthusiasm of a knight as portrayed in most media for kids. Hearing this, Kadasha was only slightly less hesitant to move forward. She didn't answer Noel when he asked what she'd like to do, and Shay was visibly distracted with playing the protector, eyes darting left and right, vigilant of any villainy that might leap out from the shadows. The child started looking around from where she decided to stop, seeing what was around.

Noel turned around just in time to see Shay battle off imaginary enemies, on the old god's face was a look of quiet amusement as he watched the display. Deciding not to interfere with Shay's battle to secure the homestead, Noel went to the kitchen and pulled down a plate. There he set out some homemade cookies that the Home Ec had made for the occasion along with some fruit slices and a glass of milk which he promptly set on the kitchen table for Kadasha and Shay.

"I am going to take your suitcase to your room," Noel told Kadasha and Shay, "Feel free to help yourselves yo the cookies and fruit on the table," he said, deciding that maybe the best way forward was to let Kadasha get comfortable without crowding her too much.

Once Noel went to stow away the suitcase, Kadasha took hesitant steps towards the treats, looking around her to see if he was secretly watching her. After she was convinced that the coast was clear, she put Shay on the table and climbed up on the chair so she could grab a cookie. Kadasha ate the treat quietly, watching where Noel disappeared to. She was careful not to make a mess as she ate. She didn't want to anger Noel. Adults didn't like messes, and she was afraid what he'd do. She took a bite from the fruit slices half-way through her cookie. Shay helped himself to some of the fruit as well, sitting down by the plate, his weapon and shield to his sides, nibbling like a little mouse.

Noel had, in fact, gone to the bedroom to put her suitcase at the foot of the bed. He had also taken the opportunity to go up to the attic to find an empty shoebox and some scraps of fabric and foam to make a bed for Shay.

Noel had not expected a sentient toy when he had gone to pick Kadasha up that afternoon. However, after meeting Shay, the toymaker in Noel, wanted him to have his own bed, or place to stay. And until he could actually make him something decent and suitable, Noel intended to make him a proper makeshift bed.

"I will just be a few minutes more," Noel shouted out from the bedroom. "I am just getting something together for Shay," he explained as he placed the foam in the bottom of the box and tucked fabric tightly around it to make a mattress.

"Huh? Something for me?" the toy thought aloud, looking to where Noel's voice came from. "Wonder what that could be?" He turned to Kadasha, hoping she would have an answer, but she simply shrugged and continued to eat quietly. Just then, Shay felt a little chill. There was some kind of energy somewhere that felt familiar. Kadasha looked out one of the windows, feeling the familiar energy. But as quickly as it appeared, it was gone. Kadasha put her chin on the table near Shay and said in a whisper, "She wants to play again." "Well, we can't leave now... Maybe tonight?" Kadasha shrugged and finished up her cookie, smiling.

Finishing up with the bed itself, Noel took everything to a side table near Kadasha's bed. There he moved the night lamp to the far side of the table and put down a piece of square fabric as a sort of rug. After that, the old god set down the bed and placed a clean and very soft cotton flannel face cloths over the mattress as a blanket for Shay.

Satisfied that everything was okay for now - he'd definitely make something nicer for Shay, and maybe a chair and table for them to use too - Noel went back to the kitchen to fetch Kadasha and Shay and show them their room which he had decorated for a young girl in warm shades of pinks, purples, and soft yellows.

"Did you want to see your room now?" he asked, sort of excited to show her the room he had designed thinking of her and what she might like.

That was one upside to the move now that she thought about it. There were fewer people to tell her not to go outside, and a lot fewer kids to tattle on her that she had sneaked out. So this should be easier, and if all goes well, she'll get to see a friend. When Noel came back, this thought was still in Kadasha's little head, and the happiness it sparked shone through as she nodded when asked if she wanted to see their room. She hopped off the chair, with Shay jumping into her arms and hurried over to Noel. While she kept her face half-hidden with Shay, she was noticeably more energetic.

Upon returning, Kadasha's sudden enthusiasm surprised Noel. He wasn't quite sure what had happened while he was away to cheer her up, but something had. Glancing momentarily at Shay, he wondered if the doll had said something to her.

"Okay then," Noel said, happy and eager to show her to her new room. "Follow me Miss Kadasha, I hope you like your bedroom." he said as he showed both Kadasha and Shay to the bedroom.

I imagine it´s something like this, with a small shelf unit full of toys.
