Kadasha had stayed at the orphanage for over a year now, and now she was being taken home by a man she barely knew. People told her that he'd take care of her. She didn't really believe that, but she had no choice. All her things were packed up and loaded into the car, all but her precious stuffed toy that she kept holding on to, half her face buried into Shay's back.
Shay had assured her that everything would be just fine, and if it wasn't he told her that he'd take care of it. If it came from anyone other than her sentient stuffed toy, then Kadasha would've been worried. She avoided eye contact with her new parent and just looked out the window to see the trees and buildings go by. Neither the girl nor the shaymin doll said anything, afraid to be told to keep quiet.
The child was anxiously hugging her toy tightly as if she was afraid the man would rip him off of her. She'd be devastated if that ever happened. Shay was the most precious thing to her after all. The only thing she had left.
