Well, they saw no reason not to see this game of chicken through.

Sareth didn't bother moving out of the way as Tril pounced, the drop hitting hard enough to push them down from their floating position and onto the ground under them with a small thud. They gave a small grunt upon impact, but they clearly weren't hurt much at all.

With Tril on top of them, Sareth shifted back into their natural form, their mirrored faces close. Maintaining the grin, they responded directly into Tril's mind.

"Darling, don't compare me to them." They telepathically project, the distaste in their tone palpable despite not speaking.

Tril flopped down on Sareth with literally no attempt at grace, snickering quietly as they collided and crashed down onto the ground. And their mirth only increased as they became a twisted, mirrored, pile of Sareths.

However the moment Sareth spoke in their mind their eyes widened and they flung themself back into a haphazard backflip-turned backwards handspring to their feet. Shifting to the appearance of a younger female with long black hair, a black dress and covered in midnight blue scales. Effectively visually mirroring the sudden appearance of fear within their surface thoughts. "What did you do to me? It's like the Fog whispering but I am not in the Fog now." Then the actual words began to sink in a little more. Them. "You do not like the humans?" They cautiously asked. Still wavering between interest and the cowardly instinct to flee this unexpected magic.

Sareth barely resisted the urge to cackle as they sat upright from where they were. Oh, if their jealousy was entertaining then that reaction was priceless. They floated back into the air, looming above Tril, their grin turning almost predatory as their amber eyes bored down at them.

"We all have our tricks, don't we?" They said aloud, leaning forward, one hand reaching towards them, a sharp black nail moving to slowly trace along the cowering demon's jaw.

It was clear Sareth was revelling in the shift of power, savouring the fear in their eyes and their mind. But, they decided to go easy on Tril for now. They straightened back up, and their demeanour returned to the same casual air they had just as suddenly as it changed before.

"I can't say I'm a fan." They continued, sounding dismissive. "So many of them fail to appreciate their own potential. One only has to look into the narrow reality to see that."

They shook their head.

"Not to mention, as you said, most are quite dull aren't they?" They added with a smirk.

Tril cowered in their smaller form, heavily considering flight from this suddenly dangerous interaction. But then Sareth relented. After a short pause Tril shifted again. This time becoming a tall black-scaled humanoid with red eyes, plumed purple feathers for hair and long black claws. Wearing dark leather armor.

"We hunted the humans back home. Tricks and traps and claws and teeth. That is what a fog demon is for. Not allowed to hunt them here but I can still have fun," the snickered quietly as they tapped the tips of their claws together menacingly. "But you know how to play games too. You played them on me just now. I am not as dumb as the humans here."

Then their intense facial expression broke into a toothy grin as they cartwheeled in a half circle around Sareth to the other side.

"Well, sounds like you were quite the piece of work back home." They said, looking amused as they cartwheel around. When they grinned at them Sareth simply shrugged their shoulders, hands raised.

"But, yes, I know how to play games. Not that you seem to mind though, isn't that right?"

Tril hopped back up to a standing position and grinned again. "I can still do many things even if I am alone here. Maybe i'll even make more demons to join me in the Fog sometime. I'm the only one so that makes the Fog mine. There was an uncharacteristic amount of authority and weight to that word as they whispered it. It held strong meaning for them.

But they were quick to return to the fun of the games. Quirking a sideways glance at Sareth. "Depends on the game. Poking around in heads can get people poked with knives," they smiled as innocently as they could while 'causally' grooming their feathers with a claw. "But I bet I can handle your games. And if not? I will just flee and you'll never catch me." That was technically a lie, given that they could in fact be caught. It was part of the reason they were here in the first place. But they didn't think about that so much. Mostly they were thinking of all the different 'faces' they could both use to mess with people.

If Sareth was at all bothered by the implicit threat, they gave no sign of it. If anything they seemed more amused by it as they tilted their head.

"Don't threaten me with a good time now, darling." They said, with that almost condescending tone again. "Besides, you've nothing to fear from me at the moment. I'm just taking what little fun I can, the same as you, it seems like."

They didn't need to read the other demons thoughts to come to a similar conclusion regarding both their abilities. Sareth liked to think they were above the sort of shenanigans that Tril may have in mind. But, well, they also liked to indulge.

"After all," They continued. "I'm sure the two of us could find far more enticing victims than each other, isn't that right?"

Tril snickered quietly. "Always fear the ones who say not to. That's the oldest trick. But I think you're still just toying with me- it's all over your face."

They grinned and then shifted to become essentially a tall, buff yeti of a man. "Of course we can, the city's full of fun faces to take and funny people to mess with." They flexed their muscles arms and glanced around. "Your faces, are they real or just illusions?"

As if to respond to both their accusation and their question, Sareth shifted along with them. In complete contrast to Tril, they shrunk down, skin gaining colour again and hair growing longer. Within moments, they had the appearance of a small human girl, with big blue eyes and a frilly dress. They looked up at Tril's now larger form and smiled sweetly, as if to say "Who, me? I'm a picture of innocence~."

"My faces are very real." They said with a childlike voice to match their appearance. They put a finger on their chin and tilted their head, questioningly. "Are yours not?"

Tril paused and then moved to pat the 'child' on the head with a big furry mitt of a hand. "My faces are not illusions. Too many people have those. My faces are real too- see?" They made it very obvious their their shifted form was just that- a physical change to their body and not an illusion.

Then they followed suit and shifted to become a small girl with long black hair and a black lace dress. Though they also added a small thin tail, tiny horn nubs on their head and deep purple scales instead of skin. Just because. They snickered quietly before continuing in their trademark whispery voice "Why be human? There are too many interesting other faces to use" They backed up a step and twirled around a bit before interlacing their fingers together in front of them. Just as innocent appearing as Sareth was.
