Nicholas felt strangely out of touch. It wasn't the huge building or its surroundings. He was used to extravagant sights. No, it were the people who inhabited it. From the second he set foot on the island he felt it. They were different. They weren't normal. Some didn't look like it, but he knew they weren't. Others did look different. He had seen people with horns or wings and people who looked more like Animals than human. He was appalled. To him such creatures had always been story elements. Things to make a story more interesting, mysterious at times. For him they also stood for horror stories, tales to scare children into behaving. Always fictitious.

When he got the letter he had been terrified. You are a special person. Unique, different. That was all he never wanted to be. Not normal. He didn't want to come here. He didn't want to go to his school. But his father wanted him far away.

And now he, too, was one of them. Well, he wasn't as strange-looking as some but still. He knew he was weird. He was wrong. And the horrible part was that he wasn't sure how to deal with it. He wished for some kind of code for how to behave when having magical powers. But there wasn't. Probably. So he ended up just standing there, staring at the building in awe and fear. He wasn't sure how to live through this. But he had to. Plus, this was a thousand times better than being at home with his father.

Nekoda stood apart from the strange carriage that brought her here. The carriage was black in color and looked to be of the normal standards with four large wheels meant for it to travel on but oh no, it was flown through the air by four equally black steeds, large and furry with wings spanning long enough to cast a shadow that blotted out the moon's beams or the sun's rays. They didn't linger and the driver merely gave her a tip of his hat and one final message before flying away again, "Remember what your father said." And then he was gone.

The young woman slung a royal purple colored backpack strap over one shoulder and tossed some curly strands of hair out of her face. She didn't speak to the man but gave a little wave of her hand before he took off again. Nekoda turned around and kicked as a larger rock on the ground, her eyes appraised the admissions office building and considered walking in the opposite direction until she caught the sight of someone out of the corner of her eye. Correcting the rock's path she kicked it towards Nicholas and smirked a bit. "Hey, I'm new here. Any idea what all of this is about? I mean..other than being a magically gifted school or whatever."

The rock bounced off Nicholas shoe. His eyes went down, processing that he was being approached by someone. Than he looked up, starring at the girl.
"I'm sorry. I don't." He replied with a polite smile. "I'm new, too." His eyes scanned the girl with a minimum movement. She had a fierce appearance that made him slightly advertent. There was the immediate interest in what kind of powers she could have. But there was no use wondering. He didn't know anything about these magical things so he didn't know the range of powers that one person could have. Maybe he should have researched that. But then again, how much of what you found in books or on the internet was legit?
"My name is Nicholas. If you want, we can find out together." he offered friendly. "It's no problem if you don't want that though." He wasn't sure if it was good or not to be friendly with other students. It was in his nature to be polite and that girl could be in a similar situation as he was, but than again she could also be a monster that would eat him alive as soon as they were alone.

Nekoda eyed the boy back with equal suspicion though she hardly realized he was doing the same thing based on his minimal movements but he was verbally polite enough. She waited a moment and then adjusted her backpack to the side so that she could thrust a hand out without it falling down her shoulder. "I'm Nekoda, Kody for short." There was no reason for her to hold back that basic information even if her family was paranoid about their names being handed out. Nekoda wasn't afraid of much. She preferred to cause fear in others.

She didn't judge but took the boy as he was at face value. "Sure, we can find out together." The girl began to walk the pathway leading towards the front door expecting that Nicholas would follow suit and started the small talk hoping to make a friend. "What's your story?"

He was pleased with her friendly reply. Keeping his smile he shook her hand. "Nice to meet you, Kody." It calmed him that she didn't seem to notice his mistrust. He decided it would be best to just follow her for now. After all she didn't seem to be hostile so he didn't feel at risk.

When she asked the question he faltered though.
„My Story?“ A slight uneasiness overcame him. He hadn't thought of that yet. „Uhm, I … My father thought it was a good idea to be with my kind.“ He fumbled with his fingers. „You know … magical beings and such.“ It wasn't a complete lie. His father did want him to be with these creatures. But more because he was a disgrace to his family and not for his own benefit. „And yours?“ He tried to shift the focus onto her.

Kody side eyed the boy as he fumbled with his words and twiddled his fingers, both signs of nervousness or possible tell tale signs of lying but, she didn't expect complete truths from someone she just met and let it slide. The idea was just that everyone had a story and she found them interesting and at times, beneficial to her. With that in mind she released the boy's hand after shaking it and moved towards the administration building's door. She pulled it open and held it for him to step inside behind her then walked in to the main hall way. With no idea where she was going she might as well wonder around and read the signs outside of the doors or above them..like the one that the main office had it big letters above it. At least they didn't have to wonder far!

"My story is simple enough. I was caught living on the streets and stealing. The man I stole from last decided to adopt me and he was pretty wealthy. He saw my powers and wanted me to be among my own kind too so that I could learn to handle them better. Hey!"

She exclaimed while coming to a stop in front of the main office and facing it. "We have almost the same story! How odd is that? ..Do you think it happens a lot here?" After a moment she tacked on, "Eh, it probably does.." And with that she grabbed Nicholas' shirt and tugged him in to the office behind her.
