"Did you sleep okay?"

"I slept fine. I just... It was one of those dreams where you know you're dreaming and theres nothing you can do to escape it. And well..." He trailed off as she looked away, hoping she wouldn't notice. "Sometimes I think sunrises are better than sunsets simply because I don't see as many of them, you know?"

"Thank you, I've had good teachers."

He smiled at Enelya and nodded to the bird. After a moment, he added, "It's strange how being around you gives animals a much greater sense of humanity to someone like me. Strange in a good way, that is."

She looked at him worriedly and put a hand on his, "I know the feeling." She looked into his eyes, with great understanding.

She smiled gently, and nodded.

"It's strange how being around you gives animals a much greater sense of humanity to someone like me. Strange in a good way, that is."

She really laughed at this, one of her musical laughs. "You'd be surprised how 'human' they really are. Sometimes, I believe they are more humane, than we are. It's amazing how much.. you can just learn from them!" She glanced over at the bluebird on her shoulder, and waved her hand, growing a little twig with a few red berries on it. The bluebird chirped excitedly, and started pecking at them.

As she looked at him, and despite his best efforts, his eyes held little light in them. If he could avoid talking about his foster mother, he would do his best.

He smiled as she laughed, nodding in an understanding way as she spoke. As the berries apeared, his smile gained warmth. Out of all the people in the Academy, he had just so happened to find one of the only selfless ones. He was sure of it, and proud of her attitude.

She could tell something was bothering him, whether it was the dream, or something else, she wanted to be there for him. She noticed the lack of shine from his radiant eyes, which saddened her, because when those eyes shined, they were extraordinary.

"I'm here for you. No matter what." She told him, looking straight into his eyes, hiding behind his hair. She offered help, and a listening ear if he needed it, but coming to this Academy, she learned that sometimes people don't want to talk about everything, so she just let him know she was willing to help. She reached over, put the chunk of hair, hiding his eyes behind his ear, and touched his face, and smiled gently.

He smiled some out of the corner of his mouth. I must be projecting more than I mean to, again... Oh well. He then said to her, "I just don't like dreaming. I always feel trapped, since I can never force myself awake."

She reached over, put the chunk of hair, hiding his eyes behind his ear, and touched his face, and smiled gently.

He smiled again, looking down. He shook his head so that the hair behind his ear fell back infront of his face and he stuck his tongue out at her. Laughing a little, he said, "You'll have to forgive my insecurities. Besides, it feels wierd having it stuck back there."

Laughing a little, he said, "You'll have to forgive my insecurities. Besides, it feels wierd having it stuck back there."

She gave him a goofy look. She thought, he's getting better, but he's still in his shell... I think I can help him with that, I mean look, he's actually carrying on a converstation! Anti-Social. Ha.

"I forgive you. But I love your eyes, and I want to see them, instead of little strikes of violet here and there." She held his hand as she said this.

Slowly, other birds were attracted to the berries she had grown, and felt bad that they were running out. She got an idea, twirled her arms, and from the ground, a whole bush grew near the base of the tree that they were sitting in. Red berries covered the bush, to where it almost looked like there was no leaves on it at all. The hungry birds swarmed, being so hungry, since most of the berry plants were fading away from fall.

"I forgive you. But I love your eyes, and I want to see them, instead of little strikes of violet here and there." She held his hand as she said this.

He hid behind his hair, the corner of his right eye twitching in agrivating memories. He knew she meaned well... very well, but it couldn't be helped, since he never really told her about his foster parents and their interactions with him.

He decided to let some of his frustration leak through indirectly, so he can control it better later. Looking below him, he said, "I know... I know you probably mean well and better than me, I really do, but... Doesn't that upset the balance? Even if by a little? Don't get me wrong, it's sweet, but..." His voice trailed off, his eyes unsettled.

She noticed his twitching eye and looked at him. "Wouldn't humanity in general upset the balance by having powers?" She looked sternly, and was almost, not quite, but almost offended by what he had said to her.

She looked away, the sun was almost all the way into the sky, and the clouds made all kinds of gentle shapes.

"Wouldn't humanity in general upset the balance by having powers?"

"You know..." He leaned back in the branch, looking up at the sky. "That's a very good point. Then agian, some of us upset the balance of the nature of the world, while others upset the balance of humanity... So wouldn't that just balance itself out again anyway? He turned to look at her and added, "Yeah, it contradicts what I mentioned earlier, but I fight myself in arguements, too." He shrugged, "I look for answers, not fights."

Enelya sighed. She didn't like arguing with people. It seemed pointless, but she wasn't about to let someone make it look like she wasn't going to fight for what she believed in.

"Alright, look at it this way," she said gently, "If you saw a hungry person what would you do? You would feed him, or, the food bank would feed him. But, if you see a hungry bird, well, you probably wouldn't know it was hungry, and had four chicks who would more than likely not survive the winter because of malnutrition."

She hated suffering, she hated pain. But most of all, she hated the fact that so much good could be done in the world, but so many people just pass those moments by...
