Rae reacted in time to stop right before his fingers touched her. She grabbed his wrist in the blink of an eye and twisted it. Not too hard, but hard enough to inflict pain. She then made her eyes flash into his eyes.

Seeing the flash in slow motion looked really funny to Kalix, so much that he actually watched it with interest. Unfortunately for him, her powers had a fairly significant effect. Even if she couldn't control his body, Kalix no longer had control of it himself. He stood there, stiff, with his wrist in her hand. If he could raise an eyebrow, he probably would be.

Rae grinned with triumph. It had obviously worked. She would--eventually--let him go back to normal, but since she now had total control....

Rae kicked out a foot and swept Kalix's feet out from under him. Once he had ungracefully fallen in the sand on his back in a loud thump, Rae thought, He's going to be sore in a few hours... She contimpated what she would now do to him but couldn't really decide on anything. She wasn't in the mood to kill him, or even really inflict much pain, but she did want the hypnosis to be used for something for her own enjoyment.

Rae sat directly on Kalix's chest, not caring if she was making it hard for him to take a breath. With a snap of her fingers in front of his eyes, Rae waited for him to realize what had happened.

Kalix saw what had happened, but through an odd sight. He knew he had slowed things down, but all of a sudden, things sped up rapidly, almost to where he couldn't tell what was going on. When she snapped her fingers, he smiled up at her. "Why, hello there. I charge 20 dollars a night." He winked, but couldn't keep a strait face for the life of him, and he burst out laughing. "Well played, well played. I'd shake your hand, but you're kinda sitting on it."

Rae supressed her grin and got off of him. She held down a hand to help him stand. While waiting, she glanced toward the tree where her sword was. "Would you mind helping me try and get my sword out of that tree?"

Kalix took her hand, but didn't really use it to help him up, mainly out of decency. "Of course." He walked over to the sword and wiggled it a bit in the tree, then hit down on it to loosen it up a bit. After a couple yanks, he removed it and handed to her hilt-first. "Am I to understand that little flash of light is a unique skill of yours?"

Rae took the sword and returned it to its sheath before grinning. "You can understand it, or not. I don't care." After another moment she nodded. "Yes. That's correct."

He held out a hand. "Well, you won the battle, but I did keep my word when I said I'd get more hits on you." He grinned. "But well played, none the less, and thank you for the duel."

Rae took his hand and scrutunized him. "I'd call you for cheating....because I know you somehow did; but I did also. So I guess we're even." She grinned. "Thank you and you're welcome." He was less than an inch taller than her, so she looked directly into his eyes as she spoke.

Kalix laughed a little at the mention of cheating. "And why do you think I cheated? Because I was good?" He eyed her funny. "Just because someone knows what they're doing doesn't mean they cheated." He grinned slightly, but enough to flash a couple teeth in the corner of his mouth.
