Rae sat down in the soft sand after untying the leather band that held up the sheath that held her sword. She placed her sword on the beach next to her and started talking to Moe((her 'other' self)).

"What're we doing here again?" She asked.

Moe sighed. "I've already told you several times. Are you hard of hearing?"

Rae grumbled, "Obviously." She waited for Moe to tell her why they were there but she didn't. So Rae just laid back in the sand and stared at the sky.

Kalix had heard from some of the other students that there was a sea nearby, but he had to see it himself to believe it. The gentle rocking of waves on stone reached his ears well before his eyes fell upon the shores. A very slight smile graced his face, and even after it left his lips, it refused to disapear in his eyes. The last time he remembers being at any type of shore, sea or ocean or lake, was with his little brothers.

He watched his shoes sink quietly into the sand as he walked till he realized he wasn't alone. Infact, the young lady even had a sword. His eyebrow quirked upward for only an instant, but his feet started taking him right in her direction.

As soon as he was within range that didn't require shouting or yelling, he said simply, "Hello." His feet kept going, and if she didn't respond, they'd probably take him to the other side of the lake.

Rae, startled, looked over at the boy. "Should I talk to him, Moe?" She asked her companion.

"He looks harmless. But he may not be. So just talk but be on your guard, alright?"

"Alright."

Rae smiled very slightly at the boy but didn't get up. "Hello."

Kalix stopped walking a couple yards from her and watched the water. He pocketed his hands, slightly suprised that they weren't already. He glanced over at the sword. "So... you know how to use those?" Incase she didn't catch his earlier glance, he nodded at the sword next to her.

Rae moved her head to look at it and nodded. "Yeah, I'm deadly with it." Which was true. Rae could kill anything that got in her way, and she would if she needed to.

She sat up.

Kalix tried to hide his smile. "Really? What if I said I could land more hits on you while remaining unarmed?" He didn't mean for it to sound like a threat or a brag, but that's probably what it sounded like. Oh well.

"Be careful, Rae. He's dangerous."

Rae knew that if Moe said he was, he obviously was. She moved her hand slowly onto the handle of her sword, gripping it. "Then I'd say you're full of it and completely wrong."

His hidden smile turned into a grin from ear to ear. "So put me in my place." His grin faded into a smile that refused to go away.

He stepped back a couple steps, put his feet together, and bowed, requesting a spar.

Rae stood with raised eyebrows. Okay, if he wants to get hurt, I suppose that's his deal.... She reached down, and unsheathed her sword. With one large step she lunged at him with her sword high it the air.

He slowed everything down to a snail's pace. Stepping to the side to get a feel for his own maxium speed, he lifted a hand to the edge of the sword to move it to the side. His other hand pointed with his index and middle fingers as he shot it forward toward to the side of her gut. To her, this entire ordeal looks as smooth as Jackie Chan, if not quite as fast.
