Ecta stared at Ebviony intently as they spoke, trying to make sense of all the younger eldritch fae was trying to explain to her.

"So fae are powerful beings that have no true identity?" she asked a bit confused by the explanation, though eldritch were actually quite similar in many ways. There was no "ideal" when one spoke of an eldritch.

"Your court... Is it here on the island?" Ecta asked, finding the concept of saving children not too unusual. Many cultures had that ideology..

"No one type or culture," Ebviony corrected. They didn't understand what Ecta had meant by "no true identity." Every fae had a true identity. Was she mistaking their fake identities as their main ones?

"And no, my court is in its own place. Um, it's in Jamaica... but not. It's hard to explain. My court is in another world and can be entered by playing with me or accidentally stumbling there in Jamaica. There, I'm very very powerful and that makes it easy to have fun."

"Hmm," Ecta hummed as she carefully considered Ebviony's correction on her previous observation on faes and their identities. "So all fae do share common and determining characteristics?" she remarked thoughtfully.

"Would you say there is a distinctive trait or set of traits that all fae share?" the eldritch asked, finding the whole thing fascinating in its complexity.

"Jamaica is a place here on Earth I assume," she added. "Is it very far from here?" she asked, wanting to know if it was possible to easily visit such a place.

Yes, was what Ebviony wanted to say. Faeries generally do share several traits. The majority of them being weaknesses.

"Jamaica is a Caribbean island on Earth, far from here," she decided to answer first.

Now was time for the harder part. "I do not know any traits all fae share, only traits that are very common: coming from a court, disliking lies, being playful, um... A lot of us are nature-related. I think I count because I'm a butterfly. Being made out of magic is an almost always thing... I think. Maybe not with half-fae... But I was made out of magic so I still count." It was becoming hard to speak confidently when she wasn't sure if her information was reliable.

Ecta stared at Ebviony for a moment as she thought about what they had just told her, her eyes flickering to the "butterflies" they mentioned, recognising them for what they were before her attention returned to the young fae.

"Let me see if I understand," Ecta said as she looked thoughtfully at Ebviony. "Fae are organic creatures, nature-based specifically, and while unique they all share a few very selective and key traits, and it is these traits that define them as fae?" she stated questioningly.

Ecta's staring discomforted the young child. Were they unclear? Did they say something wrong and she was the only one who knew what was right? All Ebviony could do now was feign confidence and watch Ecta back until she spoke what was on her mind.

"I don't think organic's a good word. We have bodies and flesh but a lot of us are made out of magic. Everything else describes most of the faeries I know about. I've been learning a lot more about fae ever since I came here. It's very... different. And complicated. There are too many differences."

"Of course, that is exactly what I meant by nature-based," Ecta stated happily, unperturbed by the tiny correction. "Magic is, like any element, part of nature," the eldritch reiterated. "And fae live, not only in nature but are an embodiment of their elements," she told Ebviony in her most illogical (to other non-Eldritch) Eldritch logic.

That made sense. Magic was a part of nature, just a nature many humans did not have the knowledge to recognize. Ebviony could not admit that they may have made a mistake by misunderstanding. It would be a show of weakness. So they simply nodded.

"Um, I answered all your answers. I want to know about eldritch now. I've been becoming more eldritch-y. Is there an eldritch culture? Powers I should expect?"

Ecta smiled at Ebviony's questions. They were smart and insightful.

"The idea or social construct that is known as culture, I have found, is something unique to many races made up of smaller units or individuals that share commonalities," Ecta explained. "But as each and every Eldritch are a world unto themselves, that concept is foreign to us," she said.

"The same with powers. Yours will be specific to you and only you. Eldritch are like, as people here like to say, snowflakes. We are all different, and no two are alike," she pointed out.

Ebviony had given so much information only to get so little in response. This was the price to be paid for such vague and unsure responses on Ebviony's part, but they still thought they gave quite a lot of information. Perhaps this was just how eldritch were: vague.

But that didn't make sense. "I was told they have a culture... Altizica said we have a culture. That's why I went to the party. Either you're wrong or Altizica is wrong... or one of you two are lying." Ebviony tried to not sound aggressive with their accusation, but those were the few possibilities they could think of. They hoped it was all a misunderstanding, but Ecta seemed certain that eldritch had no culture.
