Starlight Academy. It was a school like no other. Located on Manta Carlos Island in the middle of the Pacific ocean. To get into the prestigious Academy you had have received an invitation. One said lucky recipients is Elizabeth Lockheart. Almost a month ago her mother had found the strange envelope in the mail, Elizabeth jumped at the chance. It took her a plane ride to a near by island, a boat ride to Manta Carlos Island (in which she was nervous about. all that water *shutter*)) and finally a bus ride to the Academy it self.

And this takes us to where we are now. Looking up at the large Academy doors infront of her, Elizabeth let out a sigh. Obviously she was alittle bit nervous. She had never been around so many people at any given time in her whole life. She hated crowds not because she was claustrophobic or anti-social, but because she was scared of what she might accidentally do to them. And that is also the reason why she was here.

Straightening up and putting on a brave face Elizabeth pushed open the door leading into the main entrance hall. A few people who where there glanced over but quickly returned to what they where doing. Paying them no mind Elizabeth looked around in search of the Administration office. She was about to consider asking for directions when she finally spotted it.

She stood tall and marched over to the window. Only to realize that no one was there.

"Great" She muttered sitting down in a nearby chair to wait.

Eric's reason to the Administration office was an unfortunate one. He had hoped not to see these boring, grey offices for as long as he could manage, but only a few weeks into his schooling and Eric discovered he might not have all the course credits he needed. Changing from school to school meant a change in curriculum, and that meant on occasion a change in necessary coursework. Eric really didn't want to add another science class...

So, there he arrived. Right up to the lobby to find out there was no one there, just like Elizabeth before him, and the boy groaned. He didn't have time to sit around. He wanted to get back to the gym as soon as possible. He could feel his muscles weaken every breath he took.

He was about to turn away when he got another look at the other person waiting. At first, Eric mistook her for a boy. Short, bobbed hair, more muscular frame than curvy, and a distinct lack of any frilly fashion. But Eric had a good pair of eyes, and he saw right through her inadvertent disguise. She was a girl, and girls were always worth talking to when you were Eric.

“New here, yeah?” Eric smiled. The easiest tell was the luggage she was carrying. Fresh off the bus, basically. She also had a bit of wrinkling in her clothes, suggesting a long time of sitting in not entirely cushy spots. Those were the sorts of things his eyes could tell him. The rest he'd find out when she spoke.

Eric himself wasn't exactly clean. The jacket of the school uniform was tied around his waist, leaving the top just a button shirt left undone at the top two. He had a bit of a scent to him, and his body glistened mildly with sweat. His breathing was a little quicker. Eric had been working out just before arriving.

“Know when anyone's coming back? I don't want to be sitting here for an hour, do you?” Eric crossed his arms and grinned, leaning back against the wall across from the stranger.

Elizabeth was actually quite bored sitting around waiting for someone to show up. She could tell you how many tiles where on the floor in front of her. Looking down at her backpack and small suit case beside her she wonder if she had brought enough with her. She would practically be living here.

She notices out of the corner of her eye someone walking past towards the office. She didn't really pay much attention to them as she once again was counting the tiles.

“New here, yeah?”

Glancing up at the voice she noticed that it was the boy that just walked past that had spoken. Despite the fact that he was smiling at her as he spoke something put her off about him. Maybe it was the hair? Or how he wreaked of sweat? She had no idea. But this was a school for strange things.

"No I just carry these things around for fun" She replied sarcastically referring to the bags beside her. Not expecting a response she turned back to face forward again. Her tile counting was once again interrupted by another question.

"What makes you think I would know when they get back here?" She replied once again sarcastically turning to face him

Eric didn't lose that smile of his. It took more than condescension to ruin his day. And of course, Elizabeth wasn't the only one who could play a game of passive-aggressive welcoming. But Eric was nice, nice enough not to try and make an enemy of her just because she was upset with sitting around for who knows how long.

“Whatever works for fun I guess,” Eric shrugged, his smile creeping along the sides of his face. He examined Elizabeth a little more, studying her, weighing her as though his eyes were scales. Her own eyes were trained to the floor, up until Eric opened with a new line of questioning.

“Well, you either expect them back soon or your best form of entertainment is staring at the floor. Next to carrying bags around,” Eric pushed off against the wall, taking a cautious step to his friend. Well, not really friend. Not even a polite acquaintance. He wasn't used to someone being so abrasive so quickly.

But hey, he wasn't doing either of them favours by snapping back. He extended a hand to Elizabeth, at least as an offer of non-aggression. “Welcome to Starlight Academy, mademoiselle. You may hate me all you want, but at least you can learn to love our home.”

Elizabeth looked at Eric with surprise written on her face. Most people would either leave her alone or just yell right on back. But he just smiled and made a joke. They where actually kind of funny. As mentioned earlier Elizabeth was scared of crowds, and one on one convocations scared her just the same.

She was once again surprised when Eric extended his hand offering to shake and welcomed her. She guess this guy just likes to be surprising. Elizabeth stared at his hand nervously for a moment. Direct contact was probably her worst fear. She let out a sigh that was actually her taking a deep breath and shook his hand quickly. "Thanks I guess" she muttered.

there was a reason she was scared of crowds and people. Her actual fear lied in hurting them. Even since she was born she has been able to conduct electricity and she is still trying to learn how to control it. that's the reason that she's here after all.

Letting out another sigh she realized that he looked about her age and was probably going to be in her class. That would mean she would have to put up with him. moving to the side a little she said "Are you going to stand the whole time or sit down?"

There was always a little more to see. Hesitation, maybe even nervousness. They shook hands, her grip frail and her shaking quick. Maybe she was a germaphobe? Eric didn't see her wiping her hands though, so that wasn't it. However, Eric could stand there and guess everything on the planet before he figured it out.

“I thought you'd never ask,” Eric grinned and sat down right next to her. There were plenty of other chairs in the lobby, in all truth. Eric could easily have talked with her on the other side of the room, it was so quiet right now. But he wasn't like that. There was no nervousness in Eric, not even when she was being cold.

He did lean away from her, his arm draped over the empty chair beside him in order to relax into his position. Eric did have some consideration for personal space, after all. “My name's Eric. I only just arrived a couple weeks ago, myself. It's intimidating at first, just like any other new school, but you can adapt even to a weird place like this.”

A school was a school, after all. But few schools Eric knew had superpowered kids running around everywhere. However, even that would become the norm to you. Otherwise, you'd be driven insane every time you walked down the hallway and saw a student with fire for hair or maybe scales on their face.

Still no people, though. How long was lunch break, anyway? “So? Any cool powers? Bad ones? Ones you want to keep secret?” He wasn't just mouthing every variety off. With his eyes trained on her expression, Eric was trying to figure out the answer before she even told him.

The moment he sat down Elizabeth realized her mistake. Her was closer to her now. She felt like a complete idiot for not realizing it sooner. Now she had to be extra careful to keep her powers in check. At least he was leaning away from her. Crossing her arms over her chest and staring at the wall in front of her she tried to concentrate on containing her ability like she had practiced so many times before.

"I'm Elizabeth." She replied to him giving her his name. He gave her his so she gave him hers, only fair. She hoped she was able to adapt. but it wasn't to the school life that she was worried about adapting to. Maybe she thought about it too much? well if she didn't she wouldn't learn to contain it.

After him questioning about her powers she didn't answer in words. instead she unfolded her arms and help them out in front of her so her pointer fingers where facing each other. A small amount of electricity danced between her fingers. Elizabeth cut off the current and then refolded her arms. She thought it was better for her to show him. Seeing is believing. But she was also scared if she said it verbally she might slip up and tell him why she was so nervous. She glanced over at him from the corner of her eye to gauge his reaction.

“Elizabeth,” Eric repeated the name. Not really a French name, and like any not-French name it took him a bit of exercise to pronounce it not-so stupidly. He waited for her answer, but instead of just spelling it out she decided to demonstrate. Eric watched with a childish fascination. Seeing other people's powers always gave him a rush. It was the first time in a long time that he met anyone like the people in Starlight Academy, and the only others were his siblings.

He noticed the arc of electricity in between her fingers. The bright sight of it did, in fact, make him flinch just slightly. The arm nearly ready to rest on Elizabeth's shoulders was suddenly and smoothly kept to Eric's side of the chairs. He did smile, though. “You're like a taser, eh? I best behave then.”

The hand closest to Elizabeth rested on the arm of his chair now. His fingers gripped around the metal tube, and after a long moment he started to pull his hand away. The chair's metal started to bend, rising up with Eric's hand and melting away into a silvery, floating pool. A few seconds later, the silver blob reshaped itself in Eric's hand into a small knife in the shape of a rose.

He offered the 'rose' to Elizabeth, the knife edge delicately held against his palm. If she wanted, she could probably cut him right then and there. But all roses carried that risk.

The way Elizabeth was sitting on the chairs was quite awkward. The seats where a mix of metal and plastic and she was doing her best to only touch the plastic part. Elizabeth quite liked things made of plastic or rubber. for obvious reasons of course

When Elizabeth used her ability she watched as Eric's face lit up like a kids in a candy store. He was fascinated by supernatural things. She couldn't help but stare at his face as he looked on in wonder. His attitude towards her abilities was so different to how she viewed it. To her it was something she had to keep in check 24-7. But to him it was something new. something different. something magical. all it was to her was something to be feared.

She couldn't help but smile at him calling her a teser. She had made that comparison herself before. "It would probably be in your best interest." She warned with a grin. She loved making people think she would electrocute them. It meant that they really did try to Behave so they wont get hurt.

Looking down at the arm rest it too Elizabeth a moment to realize what he was doing. He was melting it. She watched as the melted metal began to reshape and form in his hands. It turned into some form of rose. He then offered it too her. crap. she couldn't take it. she knew the second she touched the thing it would charge up. So she just looked at it. "So you can forge stuff like a blacksmith?"

“Pretty close, Liz,” Eric smiled. She didn't take the rose to his dismay, but he did start to notice a little more of her habits. She kept a firm posture away from any metal bits. If she had electric currents, then it made sense. She didn't want to touch anything that could accidentally conduct and shock someone else. Someone like Eric. How considerate. He knew some girls wouldn't have hesitated to use a power like that right in his gut. Being a flirt could fail pretty badly at times.

“I can also refine stuff, and make it stronger just by holding onto it. For instance,” Eric grabbed the rose knife by the hilt and stabbed it through the concrete wall behind them. When Eric pulled it out, the dagger had not bent at all. The metal in the chair was not nearly as tough as that.

“I can also see into the future, but not say, far enough to know when the administrator is coming back. Or if you'd give me your number if I asked.” Perfect, his masterful setup. Eric had no shortage of pick up lines, both subtle and unsubtle.
