Tristan just laughed. "Got me there," he said. "But I think he wants to tell you before I do. Plus he has to ask you something before he tells you and blah... he's complicated." He rolled his green eyes, blowing some black hair out of his face. "I figured I'd be nice for once. Plus, now you get to be in suspense until he says something."

Brielle rolled her eyes. "Yeah, NOW you choose to be nice to him." She said teasingly. Without thinking, she laid her head on his shoulder, waiting to reach the school.

Tristan laughed. "That's right," he said. He smiled an actual, genuine smile as her head rested on his shoulder. He made sure it was small though so she wouldn't see it. Damien would get upset if Brielle guessed they loved her before he told her.

Once they reached the school, the young man landed on the roof, and gently set Brielle on her feet, folding his wings on his back. "Thanks again, Brie," he said quietly.

Brielle smiled slightly at his use of her nickname. "You're welcome." She said with a small shrug. "Still don't know how you manage to get yourself into these things."

Tristan laughed. "Sometimes, I don't either," he said.

Just at that moment, Damien had woken up. What's going on? he asked.

Tristan snorted. "You only just missed the craziest thing! This rabbit and this dude with a hat — "

You actually read a book? Wow. Just then, Damien noticed that Brielle was there.

"Well, Brielle, thanks again, but me thinks Damien wants to talk to you now," Tristan said. With that mentioned, Damien took over and he smiled at his friend.

"Hi," he said, then kind of looked down. "Um, Brielle, there's something that I kind of need to tell you..." He bit his lip, thinking for the right words. "Je vous aime..."

"Hi." Brielle said, smiling when she saw Damien. She wondered what he and Tristan had been wanting to tell her and if that's what he was going to tell her now...

"Je vous aime..."

"Pardonnez moi?" Brielle asked, slipping in to French without meaning to. She'd understood him perfectly, of course, she was just taken a back. She hadn't expected that at all, and not so straight forward.

Was that what they'd both been wanting to tell her? She'd have to remember to ask Tristan some other time. She was so shocked, that she forgot to say anything else to Damien.

"Pardonnez moi?"

Oh this was just great. She probably wasn't going to want anything to do with him now. He had ruined the friendship!

Calm yourself down, idiot! Tristan said. Just say it again.

Damien took a deep breath. "Brielle..." he paused for a moment. "I... I love you... I have for a while... and I just... I had to tell you..."

Brielle imagined that her cheeks were as red as her hair. She'd never imagined that he actually loved her in return. "I...love you too..." It felt weird to say that. She leaned over and kissed his cheek.

Brielle leaned her head on his shoulder. She pulled back after a moment. "Go to the Sadie Hawkins with me?" She asked.
