Aylin knew the cramped conditions of the dorms better than anyone. Even more so given her size. It wasn't the schools fault though. They had the task of dealing with the never ending parade of student's pouring in from all corners of the planet. They were really doing the best they could with what they had. That's why she was alright leaving when they explained the circumstances to her. They had been more than helpful in helping her find a place, and even set her up with assistance financially until she got settled. So she wasn't tossed out in the cold so to speak.

"I know what you mean. When I was there we were sharing two girls too a room. There was not a lot of space for anything. And I'm kinda... Bigger so that made things worse.' She laughed as she spoke remembering many incidents in which she had been stepped on or shut in doors. "It was safer for me to be out of there. And I am loving the breathing room of my own place." By this point the only downside was the commute to and from school. Luckily though there was a Tram went straight from Downtown core, right to the school. "You should go to the administration building and ask about financial assistance."

She herself had never been concerned about where she was going after school. For her there had never been anywhere else that she knew or remembered. She had always just kind of thought that she would stay here, in her nice little house and live happily ever after. In fact the idea of leaving the island almost felt wrong. After all wasn't this where different people came because they had no place that they belonged.

"So back to Canada then?" This was naturally the case as that's where he said his home was. But she was reaffirming to show that she had been paying attention and was interested in the conversation. "What would you do if you went home?"

Hudson had previously thought about getting some sort of loan, but the thought of that of repaying those down the line was not something he wanted to face. If he stayed within budget at least the money his folks were giving him would cover his expenses. There were probably plent of options for him other then the dorms and all he had to do was find them.

Yeah, I mean I could but as it stands my folks are basically covering everything.” He just kind of shrugged at this. “I mean government pensions, plus the farm is doing ok and all. They are doing their best to keep me free of debt so the least I could do is try and stay in budget.”

He thought about it all a bit more and guessed that in the end he might have to try and find a place someone was willing to share. It wouldn't be the same as the dorms at least, there would be more space for one! Also he could have his own room probably and that meant a place to lock himself away if need be.

Nah, I am going to try and stay on budget. Easiest would be to just find a place with someone looking to split costs or something.” He gave Aylin one of those 'Nothing else I can do really' looks. “Though if you know of any place pass it on?”

It might seem strange to ask someone he just met about helping him find a place but his dad always loved to say 'If you don't stick yer neck out once in awhile you will never get anywhere! Besides worse that can happen is it gets cut off!' This was always followed by a fit of laughter, Hudson had always worried about his dad from time to time. Then came the next question, back to Canada or not?

Yeah, probably. I mean that is what I would like, but is it what I will get?” He ran a hand through his still slightly damp hair. “I mean I would love to go home but at the same time I need to get a job as well and the education I get here tends to sometimes be rather, well, specific to things that relate to this place.”

When he had first started taking his classes he had noticed that a lot of them were subjects that never really were brought up in his old school district, like ever. Monster biology, alchemy, and some other things along those lines. Honestly how far would he get in the private sector back home with a degree like this? Odds are he would probably get laughed out of every office. The fact that he might not even be allowed to go home never entered his mind.

I mean, if need be I could always set up shop here and visit home.” He thought about it a bit more and then smiled. “Maybe get a research gig here, or even get my PhD and set up my own lab maybe!”

Looking over at Aylin he just kind of smiled and then shrugged a little.

If I keep making friends with people like you I just might actually want to stay here, who knows.”

Aylin shrugged and thought for a moment. She had been lucky to find her place, and really only managed to afford it because of her less than socially acceptable job. But that didn't mean she couldn't keep an eye out for places as they came available. after all she did live in a large residential area, who knows maybe a house would open up. "I can't think of anything right now that might be out. but today after class I'll look around my neighborhood and see." as she spoke she began reaching through her bag and produced from it her cell phone. "Here. give me your number and i'll call you if I see anything come up.' She was smiling now as she handed Hudson her phone.

(sorry it's short. Just trying to pick back up and get some steam going. Also typing with one hand is tricky.)

Hudson took her phone and added his number to the contacts under the heading of 'Hudson Ward' and then handed it back to her.

“Thanks!” he said. “I really appreciate the help!”

He really wanted to get a place of his own, and at this point in time any apartment that was off campus and in his price range would be welcomed! He didn't really know the island that well so getting the help of someone who had been here for awhile would be a huge bonus.

Sitting there silently for a moment or two Hudson just watched the rain fall, apparently it was making no signs of slowing down anytime soon. Maybe it was time to head back in? He was enjoying his little break here with Aylin but he had to get back and find his next class. Hopefully this time he would not get lost or something. He was about to say so when a stray thought hit him.

“Oh, I should probably get your number too just in case.” He said as he dug his phone and handed it over it her.

No worries! I was away myself on a sail with work. Just got back. Though I am not sure how much more we can drag this thread out. Maybe time to finish it and think about a new one if you want?
