"Have a nice day, and remember if you want more information on how to cook squash properly or use it in dishes like Ratatouille, let me know," Celeste called out to a few of her students as they put their ingredients away, took their dishes of ratatouille and put them in take away containers, and started filing out one by one or in small groups of two after her class was over.

Grabbing a pile of leftover vegetables from the table, Celeste suddenly noticed that one of her newer students was holding back, sort of looking indecisive about something. Seeing her there, Celeste put the veg down again on the table and walked over to the where her student was.

"Euphemia? Are you okay? Do you need anything?" she asked kindly, remembering the girl had struggled a bit, but she wasn't really that bad compared to others Celeste had had in the past. Heck, she had had students start fires trying to boil water.

Euphemia had done surprisingly ok with the class, considering it was her first time cooking anything substantial. When she was left to her own devices she had found herself a little lost, but she had managed with a little direction. In the end, all she had to do was follow the instructions, something that came pretty easy to her. The ratatouille had come out well, if a little bland. It was obvious she didn't really put her heart into it.

After the class had ended she'd stayed behind, standing by her workstation as the rest of the students filtered out of the room. She seemed a little distracted, staring off into the distance until Celeste's voice snaps her attention back.

"Ah, yes. I was hoping to discuss something with you. Ms Forestier."

She stood with her back straight, hands crossed in front of her, politely addressing her.

"Because of my lack of previous formal education, I have been informed by the academy administration that I will require additional tutorship during my time here. I was told that I was to speak with you regarding the topic."

A small little frown appeared on her face brielfy, though its quickly replaced her usual, expressionless mask.

"I do not wish to take up any of your time. But if you are not busy, would it be possible to discuss this with you?"

Now that was not what Celeste expected. She had put her name forth as one of the school tutors at the beginning of the year and so far not one student had taken her up on the offer. She had been warned by the administration that she probably wouldn't be approached, not until exam period, and then it might be a mad rush as students who were lagging behind came for last minute help.

Considering the young girl, woman, in front of her, Celeste nodded. She was more than happy to help her. "Of course Euphemia... Give me two minutes to grab my things and lock up the pantry, and we can talk about what you need help with, and then set up a schedule if you like."

"Very well. Please do not feel the need to rush for my sake, I will wait here."

She gave a short nod, before stepping back to collect her own things, waiting by the door while Celeste went to clean up.

She stayed still, standing patiently with the same poise and posture. Oddly enough, she never seemed to breathe the entire time she was waiting. The effect made her look almost like a statue.

Celeste put the last bit of veg in the fridges, rinsed some plates and bowls, putting them on a rack to dry. She then locked the main pantry, leaving a smaller one unlocked so staff could get things like salt, sugar, tea, coffee or anything else they might need for the staffroom kitchen.

"Alright Euphemia," Celeste said as she walked towards the girl, "Let's get out of here," she said as she shut off the classroom overhead lights and led the girl a few doors down to the office she shared with Noel Sinterklass.

"Have a seat," Celeste told her as she opened a window and left some natural light in the office. Once that was done Celeste came and sat at her desk immediately in front of Euphemia, urging her to feel free to explain what she needed or wanted from her.

Euphemia followed along obediently, lowering herself into the seat when directed and resting her palms on her lap.

"The academy has informed me that there are several gaps in my previous level of education that need to be filled within the year." She explained. "While my literacy skills are sufficient and my grasp on basic mathematics is sound, I do not possess the expected level of math skill for a student at my level."

She spoke like she was reading off a list, describing her situation impartially, as if she was speaking about someone else.

"I am also told that there are several gaps in my knowledge regarding world history, both recent and older, as well as my basic chemistry knowledge."

She pauses a moment, eyes flicking to the side, away from the teacher. She had other concerns she considered adding, but eventually decided against it, not sure if this was the place for them. She looked back at her and continued.

"My teachers for these subjects have provided me with the relevant materials, however they all recommended I seek assistance in understanding them. As such, I would be very greatful if you were willing to help me."

She ended her recitment with a short, polite bow of her head.

Celeste listened to the girl talk, noting how mechanical she sounded, like she was reading from a script, and frowned slightly at this. When she was finished, Celeste looked at her, and assented with her head...

"Okay, we can do that. It sounds like you have a very common problem that many students from different dimensions, worlds, even time periods, face. You just need to sort of consolidate things a bit to adapt and understand the present time period better." she said.

"Math, chemistry all that is fine. I am good with helping you out with that..." she added, knowing that those subjects were crucial for a good chef. Weights, measurements, conversions were all a part of cooking.

"Now, that the basics of what the school wants is out of the way..." Celeste said pushing aside the obvious and wanting to dig deeper. "What do you think you need help with?" she asked the girl before her, "The school's desires are often far from what you really need." she explained. "they suggest based on test scores or general knowledge, but not on personality, or on learning habits, ways of absorbing knowledge or retaining it."

She opened her mouth to speak, but then stopped, seeming to hesitate a moment.

"I am...not sure I fully understand." She eventually said, "I believe I should be able to retain the material without trouble."

She paused again, thinking. In the past, she would have simply shrugged off the request. She didn't need desires, wasn't supposed to have desires. But recent events had caused her to rethink a lot of things, how she was supposed to think of herself.

"...There are other areas that I believe I may require help." She said, softly. "However, I do not believe they are relevant to my education. I would not wish to trouble you with matters unrelated to your position."

"It's okay, Euphemia," Celeste told her, giving her a very understanding look. "You can ask, I don't mind helping if I can," she told the young woman.

"And if I can help, I'd like to. Your education is not only about book learning. It's also about life skills, becoming rounded as a person and learning to deal with people and situations." she explained to her.

"I know a lot of teachers don't subscribe to that ideal, but I do, and I would like to help you out if it's in my power to do so," she said sitting back in her chair and regarding Euphemia kindly.

A small frown emerged on Euphemia's face, the first real sign of anything resembling emotion on her expression this whole time. She seemed uncertain, thinking a little more before speaking again.

"Very well, if you do not have any issue with it, I will explain."

She adjusts her sitting position, sitting back up straight and regaining her composure.

"As you may be aware, I have no real experience in an academic environment. I have had very little contact with those in the same age group as my peers."

She frowned again.

"I am aware that my ability to handle social situations is...insufficient. I have been told as such by many. Others have said I can be unnerving as well. I believe my inability to coexist with my peers because of this may hamper my ability to truly benefit from my time at this academy."
