Vinanye fell backward and laid on his back, hands behind his head as he stared at the blue sky. It was so very blue and bright, and the clouds were all perfect and fluffy. "Oh! Do you watch the clouds here? They look like things! That was is a bunny." He pointed vaguely up.
"Pretty..." The word sounded more elegant for sure. It sounded as if Vinnie was some elegant princess, that had all his jewels on and was sparkling in a gown. No, that mental image wasn't good. "O-Oh thank you." His head shot up as the man complimented him back. It had been so long since he had received one back that he almost forgot what it it felt like. He was getting all tingly and he loved it. Jeriya needed this, he needed him.
As he laid on his back, Jeriya couldn't help but smile. Moving towards him, he crawled over top of the beauty, having his hands by his ears. He was cute, he was so cute Jeriya wanted to die. Vin didn't understand why Jeriya had climbed atop him, so he stared innocently, trying to figure out what the other man was playing at. Then, his hand was taken, and Jeri rolled to his side instead. "Me too! People are too runny to look at the clouds and go 'aww' at them. They are so puffy, though! It makes you want to hug them."
The gem breathed out happily and dug into his pocket to pull out an emerald and peer through it at the sky. "This is always fun, too, but you cannot see well like this. Oh, oh! We could make little gem seeing eyes. Cute, right?" Vinnie was practically vibrating beside Jeri as he spewed off a series of childish ideas.
"I do love the Summer times! All the swimming people can do. The school has water to swim in, yes? Oh, oh, we could swim at the beach!" Vinanye spoke as if they had been friends all their life and it was a given that they would be spending Summer together.
"Clouds are very pretty yes." He smiled, though he was caught off-guard by the fact that Vinnie wasn't blushing. It was as if he hadn't even registered that they were almost holding hands. "And yes, people should really appreciate them more, they are a work of nature." With a short node, she glanced over at Vinnie, who was looking through a green gem? Jeriya blinked, very confused as to what he was doing. If only his were not so far away, he would have joined in.

Vinnie was all too happy to have his fingers entwined with Jeri. The little Gem wasn't at all aware Jeri was courting him, things had never worked this way in Underhill. As for as Vinanye was concerned, this was normal for Jeriya's culture.
Once Jeri agreed to swim with the Fae, Vin beamed and shot up, trying to pull his new friend along. No, he hadn't been asking Jeri out, mostly because dates weren't even a thing Under the Hill. Oh, how confusing all of this would be.
"Oh, we are going to be the very best of friends. I see it now! Come on. Let us go! We can go to a park lake or the beach or anywhere you want to go, new friend. I do not know this place well. Nope. So it would be good if you know it. Oh! Jeri, you look red. Are you okay?"
Vin reached a hand out to lay the back of it against Jeriya's forehead, testing for a fever. "Are you okay? Did I hurt you when I fell on you?"
It seemed that the acceptance of this outing made the dream boy jumpy. In a matter of seconds, he was being shot up from their entwined hands onto his feet once more. A short giggle escaped Jeriya as the boy's excitement madd him happy. He never would have thought that he would go on his first date so quickly. "This sounds sounds really fun for a first d-" but wait, Vinnie has said friends? "day out together." The words made him grumble a bit. How on earth would he be able to keep his dream boy as a friend? "Thankfully I know this place rather well then?" He nodded widely, making it dramatic to see if it amused the boy.

Vinanye did indeed giggle enthusiastically at Jeriya's exaggerated nod. But that was cut short once the little Gem was worried for his friend's health. Vin was only a little reassured by Jeri's insistence that he was okay. He did not look okay. When Jeri grabbed Vinnie's hand, the Fae smiled softly at him, completely fine with the action.
Vinnie was just about to dispute the idea that he was perfect because no one could be such a thing. It wasn't the first time someone had said that very thing to the Gem, though. Familiarity and comfort tended to lead to attraction. When Jeri kissed the Fae, Vin jumped in surprise but did not pull back. He had no time to decide whether he'd return the kiss or not before Jeriya reeled back. It left Vin terribly confused.
Rather than be offended, Vinanye giggled, which turned swiftly into full-blown laughter that forced him to double over and try to catch his breath. "No, no, I do apologize, friend! I do not laugh at you. I just think that was cute." once the Gem had straightened himself up and met Jeri's eyes, he continued grinning, though confusion danced in his eyes.

The jump scared him a bit, as this was his first real kiss that felt like it meant something to him. Every other time, it was as if he was denying he liked it; pretending that he was happy kissing girls and people he didn't even find attractive to make Yoruichi jealous and to prove to his parents that he was straight. None of that mattered anymore though, he was on the island and he was able to make his own, grown up choices. The Fae puckered his lips, "oooooh. I did not know! That is quite strange to do to those you enjoy the company of, but I will remember this cultural gesture for future meetings."
"Your smile is lesser than before," Vinnie noted. If there was one thing the Gem was good at, it was reading facial expressions and body language. He was an empath at heart and more naturally attuned to this stuff than other people seemed to be.
"I fear I have said something offensive without meaning to! I do not know this culture at all and where I am from things are not like this. I request a moment of explanation."

No... Was Vinanye alright? He seemed so off about rather normal actions. It wasn't weird to kiss someone, or to just like someone from where he was from. Though, considering all the vast arrays of creatures on this island, it wasn't that hard to imagine that others wouldn't understand such basic things. "Oh um. Yeah maybe don't go around kissing everyone though, not all people are okay with that." It made his head hurt to think that Vinnie would now go around and give a big fat pucker up to anyone he 'liked'. Poor thing.
