Geo had been waiting at the basketball courts now for approximately 30 minutes, though it was not because her opponent was late, more so that she was very early. Geo figured it would have been better to be early herself then to show up late and disappoint Brunhild. The fact that she was highly aware that the odds of Brunhild showing up anytime other then the exact designated moment were low, and all of her programming was telling her that showing up this early was ridiculous, Geo couldn't help but be early. Something was off with the android, what exactly was unknown but would require further diagnostics later.

Earlier on the two had enjoyed an afternoon together playing a thing called a video game, and at the end of it had set up to play some sports together, as while the racing simulation was enjoyable Geo always preferred physical activities and had always wanted to try one of the local ones. After much thought the android decided that Basketball would probably be the best for them as it was highly physical and could be enjoyed with only two players.

So for now Geo waited for her co worker to appear, bouncing the ball a few times to get a feel for it and taking a couple practice shots at the net. For anyone watching it would have been a sight to behold if it was not on this particular island. Geo had gone out the day before to purchase the required gear for the day, as her space suit did not seem to be made for such things. She was now wearing red basketball shorts, a white tank top with a red check mark on it with the words “just do it” underneath, and a pair of black and red shoes with white soles that also bore the same check mark.

She continued to take practice shots while also attempting to get better at bouncing it and moving at the same time, something the internet had called “dribbling”. She continued to do this right up until just before the appointed time she had set up to meet. Walking over to the side of the court she sat down and waited for Brunhild to appear.

Brünhild didn't really need to look at her watch to know she was on time but she did anyway, glancing at it once every few minutes ever since she left her apartment. Brünhild was a punctual woman but she wasn't obsessive about schedules. For some reason however she was taking great care not to be late from this meeting, and her behaviour was approaching obsessive.
Brünhild was wearing army green knee-length shorts, black tank top whose hem was loosely tucked in the shorts and neon green sports sneakers. On her back she had her usual red backpack, that contained her noise canceling headphones, sunglasses, small snacks, fitness journal, small first aid kit and other small tools Brünhild might need.

Brünhild jogged lightly and walked to the park, since she didn't want to physically excert herself too much. Brünhild could only physically wear herself for an hour at a time and after that her muscles started cramping, and judging on what Brünhild knew about Geo's abilities she'd be very much pushing herself to the limits. But that was exactly why Brünhild was looking forward to this in addition to the fact that Geo had been pleasang company when they played video games. Brünhild's constitution requited that she exercised a lot, but after decades of living such life she had learned to enjoy it. And Brünhild liked basketball and was quite good at it.

Brünhild arrived, slightly early, and just at the right time to see Geo throw some hoops. Brünhild stopped to marvel at her precise aim and technique, she had expected nothing less. Brünhild smiled slightly and walked up to Geo when she stopped, waving a bit.
"Hello Geo, I hope I did not keep you waiting too long."

Geo stopped what she was doing and turned to face the owner of that unmistakable voice and could not help but smile a little bit and shook her head in answer to the question, usually she would have answered verbally but one thing she had learn on this planet was that sometimes non verbal responses are best. Wanting to try out something she saw on the internet Geo balanced the basketball on the end of her index finger on her right hand and spun it, balancing it there and looked over at Brun.

“I am glad that you were able to accept my invitation.”Geo said while moving her hand causing the ball to drop and bounce. She caught it and then lightly tossed it to the other. “Now what shall we play?”

Geo paused only for a brief second while tilting her head to the side while accessing some information.

“This planet seems to have many rules for this sport. There is a game called 21, one where you take shots to spell out the name of a terrestrial animal.” She paused for a second going over more information. “Or we can just play one on one until one of us calls it, as they say, quits?”

Brünhild returned Geo's smile with a slight smile of her own, it was nice to see Geo's smile so soon again. When they had played video games Brünhild had considered Geo stoic like her. But Brün wasn't complaining.
"I'm glad to hear that, I'm usually extremely punctual but forget for some people it is polite to come 15 minutes early. Or at least in Europe it was a popular custom."
Brünhild watched as Geo balanced the ball on her finger and spun it, Brünhild wasn't sure how new Geo was to this sport but she did that quite well.

Brünhild caught the ball when Geo tossed to her and nodded as an answer to her words.
"I had no reason to not accept, I had fun playing video games with you."
Brünhild did the same trick Geo had to see if she still could, and effortlessly spun the ball on top of her index finger. She looked at Geo, how the woman tilted her head was somehow animalistic and cute to Brünhild's mind, she loved animals.

Brünhild chuckled a little when she imagined her and Geo throwing baskets and spelling different animals, somehow that image was very amusing. But when Geo suggested one on one until one of them gave in Brünhild went back to her stoic expression and considered. She had one hour of excercising before her muscles started to spasm, so Brünhild was at a disadvantage.
"How about we play five 10-minute sessions, and a winner of one session gets a point. Best out of five wins, just like when we played video games. Would that be acceptable?"

Geo thought about it only for a moment before nodding in agreement, now realising what she had said earlier would have been unfair. Unlike a lot of the others on the island Geo was not completely organic and her internal cybernetics would give her an unfair advantage in the long run. Short 10 minute games would at least keep it fair, as Geo had previously witnessed Burn's own capabilities. Geo may react to things quicker but she was fairly sure Brunhild outclassed her in the strength department at the very least.

“That is acceptable. “I also think we should keep it to half court. The research I have done suggested this is best when there are only two players. Shall we begin then?”

Geo motioned to the court and then went and took a defensive position one one side of the court. Brunhild could have the offense this time and they can switch each match.

Brünhild was relieved Geo was cooperative, and she nodded at Geo's suggestion and as the woman took a defensive position Brünhild took a firm grip from the ball and bounced it off the pavement three times. She stepped onto the court and took a place facing Geo, crouching into a starting position.
"Then, let's begin."
And with that Brünhild started bouncing the ball, turned sideways and after a couple of feints she tried to dribble her way past Geo, her back facing her.

Geo started to shadow Brun, trying her best to inhibit the others movement without touching her as her research had told her that this would be something called a “foul”. What she did do though was attempt to take the ball from her opponent, though that was easier said then done. While Geo potentially had greater reflexes Brun seemed to have more physical strength and did a good job pushing through what ever defense she could muster.

Her break came when Brun had went for a shot and she manged to leap into the air and snatch the ball.

“Ha!” She didn't mean to gloat a bit but it came out almost automatically before starting to dribble and racing her way to the opposite end of the court, hoping her reflexes would be enough to make it around Brunhild.. Geo caught movement out of the corner of her eye somewhere around the “Three point line” and assuming it was Brun the andriod made a quick shot at the net.

Geo was good, but despite her best efforts to stop her Brünhild was able to get to a good shooting point. She positioned herself quickly and threw accurately towards the hoop, knowing it would go in. But Geo was able to catch the ball, and let out a small victorious exclaim. It made Brünhild smile, although there was also a small flash of irritation. But it was all part of the competition, one that Brünhild was already enjoying.

Brünhild dashed after Geo when she began dribbling the ball towards the other end of the court, Geo was quick on her feet but Brünhild was able to catch up to her. Unfortunately bit too late, since Geo had already thrown the ball and Brünhild could see it would go in. But it wasn't over yet. Brünhild crouched down on all fours, and jumped with all her strength towards the ball. She was able to catch it just before it went into the hoop, and Brünhild had launched herself into the air so high and fast she had to grab to back board of the hoop so she wouldn't fall down in a bad angle.

Brünhild let go of the back board and let herself fall down to the ground, nimbly like a cat. Brünhild sent a small challenging look at Geo before starting to bounce the ball, and attempting to get past her.

The game went like this for almost the full 10 minutes, any point gained by Geo was hard fought as any point given to her opponent was done so grudgingly. The synthetic life form was completely absorbed in the match, pushing herself to match Brunhild as best as she could. If she couldn't then the task was to use what advantages she had to give herself the edge.

Geo was so lost in the game that she barely noticed the ten minutes was now up. Stopping mid shot she simply put the ball down and headed over to the side lines.

“That is ten minutes. The first of five is over, the final score is” she paused while tallying it in her head. “ 14 to 17 in your favour.“

Geo paused a moment, taking in the fact that she had lost this one, deciding to replay it later to see exactly where she went wrong.

“We can rest before the next match if you wish?” she said, trying to be considerate. Despite the fact that she had pushed herself the android was not breathing overly heavy, potentially do to the fact that a large part of her did not require oxygen to function, it was mostly her organic “camouflage” that needed it.

“Whenever you are ready we can start again”

Brünhild lost track of time during their rather intense match and if Geo hadn't pointed it out, stopping while mid-shoot, she probably would've also missed her own watch beep an alarm, telling the 10 minutes were up. Brünhild blinked once to get herself out of the tunnel vision she had been forming and straightened from the low stalk she had been moving in. Brünhild'd predator instincts had mistaken this situation as a hunt, and she still wanted to move and her muscles were shivering in her legs and arms. But despite that Brünhild wasn't out of breath, not yet, and only had a little sweat on her brow and upper back.

Brünhild had also been keeping track of the points in her head, and nodded when Geo said the correct numbers.
"In other words, the situation is 1-0, for now."
Brünhild said and followed Geo to the sidelines. Her muscles were tense, but she wanted to keep them that way, and her pupils were dilated, a sign of her concentration and adrenaline.
Brünhild pulled out a towel from her bag, and wiped her forehead and neck a bit before setting it neatly on top of the bag. She turned to Geo, streyching her arms, and smiled.
"Thank you for thinking of me, but I'm ready to resume our match. I think I'm in good condition today."
