Wynnestri was excited.

Well, nervous. But also excited. Could you be both nervous and excited at the same time? Probably. That's how he felt so it had to be the case. This was the first time he was going to spar with someone from the club he joined, so the godling couldn't help but be a little on edge. He knew he was meeting Alby for a spar, but he didn't know too much about the other boy. They both had an interest in the sparring club, though, so he couldn't be all bad! Plus, it was nice to make a friend that was relatively normal. A lot of the island denizens had been so different and it was a bit jarring for Wynne to really associate with them.

But Alby seemed normal and he could work with that.

Checking his phone again for the time, the redhead proceeded to do a few more stretches. The workout clothing he was able to buy with the stipend he received were a bit strange but allowed for a lot of movement. A sleeveless shirt and 'basketball' shorts, whatever basketball was supposed to be. Now all he had to do was wait for Alby to show up and then they could begin!

With a light shuffle jog, Alby made his way over to the familiar face he’d met earlier. He was wearing a basic pair of black gym shorts and a blue gym shirt with a darker blue sweater over top, as well as a basic black gym bag wrapped around one arm.

He slowed down when he finally got close, coming to a stop next to Wynne. “Hello again.” He smiled with his teeth and waved. “How’s it going Wynne? You all prepped and ready to go?” He took a water bottle out of his bag and took a quick drink.

When Alby arrived with a friendly wave and smile, Wynne couldn't help but wave back. This seemed like the start of a very good friendship and rivalry. The other boy seemed receptive and ready to go and Wynne gave a thumbs up in acknowledgment.

"Hello, Alby! Good afternoon. I'm ready to begin sparring whenever you are but I do need to know what our limiters should be. Are we doing a simple hand to hand spar, no powers? And do I need to hold anything back when it comes to my strength? I'm pretty strong so I don't want to actually hurt you during our match."

He grinned as he began to stretch out his arms over his head. This was going to be fun, one way or another.

Alby chuckled. "No, no, you show me everything you're capable of. I wanna see what you can do." Alby wasn't exactly saying that because he thought he could take it, he was totally aware of just how strong some of the island's residents were and he knew quite well that the chance he could actually take on any given person was quite slim. At least not without the tricks in his backpack and a firm grasp on the other person's species and it's shortcomings.

Though, perhaps it would be best to at least make sure Wynne knew he was human... "I suppose I should still mention that I'm human though, I've got powers but if you set me on fire or something crazy, I might burn up a little. Just keep that in mind and we're good to go." He put his fist into the other hand's palm. "Alright!" He put his water bottle back into his bag and threw it to the side, then he cracked his knuckles and smirked. "Ready when you are."

Wynne tilted his head, his ponytail swaying as he stared at the older teen. Alby was just a human? This was going to be a very interesting turn of events, that was certain. Wynne let out a small breath but got into a defensive stance regardless. If Alby wanted him to treat this seriously, he would. But he wasn't going to use his deity powers, that was for sure. He had no idea how much damage the human body would take from that if Alby didn't have some sort of magical protection to lighten the hit. He wasn't about to test it out on the first bout.

"Very well, Alby." Wynne smirked, giving the other boy a beckoning motion with two fingers. "I see you have resolve and I respect that. For this bout, I'm not going to use any magic until I see how much of a butt-kicking you can take first. Now, hit me with your best shot!" Wynne yelled, his eyes sparkling with excitement. He was ready for whatever this guy was going to throw at him.

Alby hadn’t actually ever really fought anything. Most of what he knew about fighting came from gym classes back on Earth. Yeah, this was likely going to go poorly and from the sound of things he wasn’t even going to get a sick light show out of it. Not unless he actually proved he could take it. It wasn’t going to be a easy thing to prove, might even be impossible, but for what it was worth he was going to take it very seriously now. “You got it.”

He put his arms up defensively and started walking over. The only things he really knew how to do were block, punch, kick and naturally the roundhouse kick. Knowing what he did, he didn’t really want to strike first though. Mostly out of fear that he’d kick, Wynne would dodge and grab his foot, then slam him down into the ground right off the bat. So he simply approached until they were close then held the defensive hoping Wynne would move first.

Wynne shifted around, eyes analyzing every movement Alby made. It was strange, but the godling was beginning to suspect that the other boy was either hesitating a lot or not specifically trained in a formal fighting style like he had been. The stance was fine but it didn't seem... refined? That was probably the best word to describe it. Or rather, that's how his hand-to-hand combat teacher would have described it.

"If you don't want to make the first move, I will." Wynne grinned, throwing out a simple three punch combination. Two jabs with the right and a straight punch with the left. He'd keep it simple for now and see how Alby responded before adding in more complex hits and kicks. Who knows, maybe Alby would surprise him.

Alby put up one arm to block while the other one lowered simply out of reflex. He managed to block both of the initial jabs, it still hurt more than he expected, but it was probably much better than if he'd just taken it. And that third punch was enough to prove that fact as it connected right in the side of his chest where his other arm had lowered.

Alby never showed much of a sign that the punch had hurt aside from biting his lip, but he did in fact feel it. "Nice move." He backed up and smiled, then raised his arms once again. Regardless of how much this would be an uphill fight, he didn't really have any plans of quitting. Instead he rushed forward, taking the offensive this time.

"I'm gonna try it out." He mimicked Wynne's actions from earlier, giving two rather weak jabs with his right arm and then raising his left one. But rather than finishing the maneuver by punching with his other arm as Wynne did, he made a sudden switch to using his right arm again, putting everything he had into that last swing right at the side of Wynne's chest. The form of his punches wasn't all that great, but it was still an honest effort.

Wynne felt confident in his choice to pull back his hits. It was becoming more obvious that Alby didn't have the same fighting experience he had. The third punch had connected and he had almost felt guilty when he connected. It was a spar, sure, but the godling couldn't help but be wary. His power had a tendency to be explosive at times and he wanted to not hurt anyone beyond the bumps and bruises one gets during the usual spar.

Much to Wynne's surprise, though, Alby bounced back from the hit with determination and attempted to counter with the exact same moves he had just thrown previously. He noticed the first two jabs were quite weak and as he braced for the left, Alby quickly threw a feint and swing with the right instead. He blocked on instinct and pulled away before the the other boy could capitalize but definitely stumbled.

"Excellent feint, Alby, but your form needs work. Your jabs are meant to be quick and disorientating but you can put more strength into your hits. I can take the hit, promise. I learned that your off-hand should be used for light punches, main hand for the heavier hits. Are you left handed or right handed?" He got back into a defensive stance, arms up and ready for another attack. "And put your body into your swings as well. Your arms can be as strong as you want but the momentum from your body will push that hit even harder. Come at me again and show me how hard you can swing!"

Ow that hurt. He knew punching something wasn’t supposed to be painless, but that third punch was not a fun time for his knuckles.

All in all, that didn’t work, but that was kind of to be expected. It seemed Wynne even thought he was holding back with his jabs when the intention was just to try and get him to underestimate the third by throwing weak useless ones at first. On the bright side, Wynne didn’t just grab his arm when he punched and slam him into the ground. Although there was a good chance he probably could’ve if he really wanted to.

“Right handed.” He smiled. Even if he wasn’t able to give Wynne a challenge, he was at least learning a lot of good tips. “Gotcha!”

“Alright, round 2.” He held his arms up in a defensive pose again. This time he’d focus less on trying to actually land a hit and more on his own form. He would get near to Wynne before finally jabbing twice with his left arm and then putting his body into a final swing with his right. He continued aiming for the chest, but he expected to be landing hits on his arms.
