Stefan shook his head and laughed. The arrogance of his family always caught him off guard. But it seemed all too familiar at the same time. While Stefan might not have been the same type of arrogant as Sylvi, he was certainly confident and played that to his advantage.
"Be careful underestimating mortals. You may just come against one like Sigurd, or maybe even stronger. It's not unheard of."
While mortals where prevalent on the island and one of the peoples Sylvi may run into, they were far from the only ones. This list could go on and on, and only seemed to be getting longer the more time he spent here.
"All manner of people. Dragons, Harpies, Vampires, Werewolves, Demons, Eldritch beings, and even other gods. Just to name a few. That's what makes the arena so exciting, you never know who will be fighting each other and what the outcome may be."

Sylvi

Sylvi frowned a little when Stefan compared the people on Manta Carlos to Sigurd. "Sigurd, was a hero who slayed Fafnir, the dragon." Sylvi said matter of factly. "To think that there could be a mortal on Manta Carlos of all places, that could match him is almost unthinkable." She huffed.

She took another sip of her beer as Stefan discussed who lived on the island. There seemed to be a wide diversity of people living here, and it certainly sounded interesting seeing them fight in the Arena. "Interesting. A far cry from the Elves and Dwarves to be sure."

"On that note, how, exactly, does one fight in the Arena? I would rather not lose my touch while I am here."
Just because she was on the islands, didn't mean she could afford to neglect her training, after all.

Stefan raised a hand almost annoyed as Sylvi chided him on tales he had heard countless times. It reminded him of the numerous occasions Kára had scolded him for putting off his studies.
"I don't need to be told the histories our our people. I'm very aware of them and the comparison was accurate. You would do well to remember that as you look into the arena."
His voice had taken on a rare deeper tone that betrayed his brief annoyance. Clearing his throat, Stefan's usually light hearted tone returned.
"Getting set up in the arena from what I've gathered is pretty simple. You go and ask. They can set you up with the people for official matches or times to use it personally."

Sylvi

Sylvi blinked when Stefan snapped at her. It seemed she had unintentionally hit a nerve. But even if Stefan's word rang true, her pride wouldn't let her admit that she could lose to someone from Manta Carlos.

"My apologies. I.." Sylvi trailed off, not entirely sure what to say. "I simply find it.. Difficult to accept." she answered, a bit hesitantly.

She nodded as Stefan went over how to get involved in the arena. "I see. I will have to look into securing a match there soon." She said, taking a drink of her beer. "Though, I will keep your advice in mind."

"That's all I ask. Obviously I want to see you succeed. I would just hate for you to lose because you underestimated an opponent and they surprised you. Remember, only a fool thinks they know everything while they are alone."
Goddess he sounded like Kára, his mother, and every trainer he had ever had. But it all rang true. Stefan did want Sylvi to succeed, but he knew his family's tendency to think highly of themselves.
"Please let me know when you get a match there. I would like to come cheer you on. I've been missing a good fight."

Sylvi

Slyvi nodded. While she wanted to say she would never lose, given Stefan's earlier reaction she held her tongue. "Of course." She said. "Hopefully you will find the match entertaining." That was the point of the Arena, or so she thought.

"On the subject of entertainment, what is there to do for 'fun' on the island? Besides parties, of course." After all, there had to be other stuff to do on the island outside of partying and fighting. If that was all there was to do, what was the point of coming here? Valhalla had both those things in spades.

"Well there's plenty of outdoor things. The park is great for some fresh air. There's lots of really good restaurants around. Seems some event it always happening. Then you can also always go up to the space station."
Stefan listed off several things to do before shrugging a little. The island had it's own interesting amenities to it that had to be discovered.
"Really just meet people and be open to trying things and you'll find a lot of really cool stuff. It's similar to home, but still has its own feel."

Sylvi

Sylvi listened intently as Stefan spoke, before letting out a sigh. "Thank you. As of late, I have been pushed to have more fun while I am here. I am sure I will be able to find something that suits my interests, outside of the arena."

She took a drink of her beer as she thought about what to say next. "Well, I believe that covers everything I wanted to know about the island. But I admittedly know little about you. Besides you being Freyja's son, of course." Stefan had left when she was only 12 years old, and with him being in Fólkvangr and her in Valhalla, she was curious to learn more about "uncle" Stefan. Especially if they were going to be on the island together.

Stefan chuckled a little and swirled the last bit of his drink in the glass idly. It was strange to think they were family, especially this close of family, and knew almost nothing of each other.
"Yup. That's me. Freyja's boy. Big reason I left home. Was tired of being given things or dismissed because of who my mother was and not because of what I did."
He quickly threw back the last of his drink and sat the glass down on the counter with a satisfying thud. Nodding to the bartender he looked back to Sylvi.
"So after some time around the actual regular mortals, and finding my father, I made my way here to keep out of trouble. Lucky for me, though, things have gone really well."

Sylvi

So, Stefan had left because he was tired of being simply "Freyja's boy" and in a sense, she could understand. Being the daughter of Thor carried certain expectations with it. Especially when she had become a fully fledged Valkyrie.

"Why Manta Carlos then? Surely Sweden, or Norway would have been better choices?" She understood not wanting to go back to Fólkvangar, or even Valhalla. But Manta Carlos seemed so far out of the way and so, different from what they knew that Sylvi didn't get why Stefan would chose to come here. The fact that she was sent to Manta Carlos against her will also played a part in it.
