In Enelya's subconsciousness, the tattoos indeed did mean something. However because of her amnesia, and denial, she didn't remember. Enelya had been found in a rose bush as a young child, and that would explain her first tattoo. However her other two hadn't been figured out yet. Perhaps the yin-yang would be the balancing love of her and Kotah, who were of opposite ends of thinking. She was optimistic, and loving, while he was cynical, and at times pessimistic.
