A Blind Body, A Seeing Soul

Ellia sat on the lawn, her unseeing eyes looking around as if she could see. One really couldn't tell she was blind unless they tested her. She rose up with a sigh, sitting on the grass was no fun when you couldn't watch the birds or the sky or even the sunset. She had never seen any of these things. She never brought a cane with her so she wouldn't look like a weirdo or get picked on.

She got up and started to walk, soon banging into a tree because of her pride. She sighed, walking away from the people she heard laughing. She hated the fact all she saw was darkness, she never saw anything than the pitch black existance of nothing. She saw nothing, her whole life was spent in this darkness. People made fun of her, treated her different, some pitied her, some ridiculed her. She had no way to see anything around her than to sense or use a thing to feel for her. She didn't do seeing eye dogs or other such things.

Paul happened to be relaxing quietly in the tree she knocked in to. It startled him quite a bit, but nothing interesting other than that happened. He looked down and saw the girl walk off, looking quite agitated. He thought it was quite strange.. did she just walk into the tree? Why would she do that?

Wait a second.. you walk into trees.. all the freaking time.. and you think its weird that she did?

Paul had no comment.

You know I've been watching her for a little while now.. there's something strange about her. You're too far away for me to hear anything, though.

Corona's curiosity transferred to him and he decided to jump out of the tree and go after her.

"Hey! Wait a second.." He called to her.

"Hey! Wait a second.."

She turned towards his voice startled at the sudden yell from darkness. Her eyes looked towards him, they didn't look blind. But of course it wasn't easy to tell with her, some people with blindness had eyes that didn't move. But her's did even though they were never used in the sighted world.

She stood there, unable to look him over to tell if he was friend or foe. "Erm... yes?" She asked confused as to why someone would talk to her. 'Was he trying to make fun?' She wondered in her mind....

"Umm.." He took a few steps towards her. "Are you alright? You look a little... um.." He thought for a second. "What's the word.. annoyed.. I guess. And.. you seemed a bit afraid when I called you..." Corona didn't add anything, at first he thought she was just strange like every other kid in this school. Though he didn't see any physical problems with her, or at least none that were obvious, something about her - besides the hair - made her different.

"Umm... Are you alright? You look a little... um... What's the word.. annoyed.. I guess. And.. you seemed a bit afraid when I called you..."

She sighed, comfirming he must've been trying to make fun of her. She walked on, "Listen, it's bad enough people won't accept the fact I'm different so why don't you quit trying to make fun and just leave me alone." She said walking forward forgetting to make sure there wasn't trees she ended up walking into another one.

She grumbled, this time her cheek was scratched making her cheek bleed. The bark was rough, she sighed. It was bad enough when she banged into a tree. But when she banged into two that was even more annoying and painful. She forced herself not to whack him even though she couldn't see him to whack him. Though she wanted to.

I think she's blind.
"Blind?" He accidentally said aloud.
Yes, though you should know by now to not address me without using your thoughts. She does not appear to be able to see very well - if at all. And is apparently quite sensitive about it. Be careful

"Um.. I'm sorry.. I didn't mean to offend you.. at all.." He walked over next to her, trying to make some noise with his feet so that it was quite obvious he was moving towards her. "Are you okay? That scratch looks like it hurt.."

"Blind?"

She sighed, the boy could easily be playing dumb. But normal seeing people didn't normally bang into trees often. She looked towards where she thought the boy was, with a annoyed look. "Do you expect me to believe you didn't know I was blind after I banged into a tree?" She said with a look of annoiance on her face.

"Um.. I'm sorry.. I didn't mean to offend you.. at all... Are you okay? That scratch looks like it hurt.."

She sighed... "Why does it matter? Not like I can see the scratch, so how can I tell if it hurts?" She said a bit annoyed with his phrasing. Fact was it did hurt, but she had been in darkness all her life. So one more scratch to her face was no difference. Though she didn't normally have scratches on her face from her banging into things.

"Uh... Calm down.. I'm not trying to make fun of you. I'm just making sure you're okay is all. You don't need to get so defensive.."

She sighed, she was aggreviated. She only wanted to be left alone yet this boy had to talk to her. Why was he so clueless? She was blind, wasn't it obivious? Everyone else seemed to think so, she muttered something under her breath. "I'm sorry... I just don't like being made fun of." She said walking slowly away, she was so numb. Her feelings were so blank in her mind, she didn't know how to express them since she hadn't seen it done. Crying was quite hard to figure out, as well as some simple things. Though she did them, she didn't know what they looked like or how they really were. Nothing could explain one who never saw.

"I wasn't trying to make fun of you, I'm sorry if I came off that way. I understand if you find it hard to trust me, though.." He sighed. Another person abandoned by society, whose mind was damaged from all the insults and teasing. He was beginning to see Corona's point. But was also afraid when he was told that it was only predicted to get worse.
