The bird made something like an uwahh sound before following up with an "Eein's too nice! Kueria is very appreciative, she will buy the next lunch!" Ending her speech, she then nodded affirmatively at the guy.

other sapient birds might not react well.

Now the last thing she wanted was the birds to dislike her, thus she listened in closely to his warning and made sure to get the bird's consent before hearing their thoughts in future. "Kueria understands! So far, she mostly heard birds think about food or shiny stuff but Kueria will definitely be more careful!"

The second the line twitched, she immediately shifted her gaze to stare at it intently, much like a feline at a toy. The girl watched on earnestly as the other slowly but surely winded the string in, letting out a soft "wow" as a fish popped out of the water. Sliding in closer to the other, she said a quick "Kueria would love to try" before grasping hold of the rod and fiddling with the hook. A few mutters of "so Kueria does this... Kueria does that..." could be heard as she vigilantly set up the bait. Once she was done, she looked towards Eein and asked, her words laced with uncertainty as her wings drooped ever so slightly in confusion.

"Is Kueria doing this right?"

"Hey now..smile, were supposed to be having fun," he'd give her a smile. "You did good," he'd show her a few corrections and gave a few pointers. "Now...," he'd gently take her hands, "follow my lead." The dragon would show her how to cast the line out into the water, he'd show her how to draw it back in, and then would let her cast it by herself. "It takes practice, but you'll get it in time."

"Now....we wait again," he'd say with a tiny chuckle. "So, birds like shiny things?" he'd ask tilting his head, "is that like a common thing among birds?" His animal telepathy was still developing, so he was curious about it.

He'd adjust the pole a little. "Pay attention for movement in the pole and line, twitches and big movements mean there's a fish on the end." The dragon would lean back a bit. "Are you cold?" he'd ask her, picking up his coat he'd offer it to her.

Hey now..smile, were supposed to be having fun.

The girl's shoulders visibly relaxed, sloping down in a gentle gradient as she released any pent up tension. At Eein's praise, a warm smile donned across her face, as she said a quick "Thanks!" Now, this was where things got confusing for the young fae. The man's touch was soft, friendly, and gentle to say the least, but before she could think much about it, she shook her head and quickly fixated herself on fishing instead.

"Yes birds love shiny stuff... or well, mostly just magpies and blue jays. Some birds also think about what they can eat, especially the ones near the academy cafeteria. Kueria's favourite birds are the birds that think about the cities! Sometimes, she can even see the pretty lights and buildings from their thoughts!" Pausing, for a short while, the fae crossed her legs and loosened up her posture further before continuing "Well, Kueria loves shiny things too! Especially stuff that goes..." Cue the odd sound effects the bird vocalized whilst she simultaneously used hand gestures to convey her perception of shimmering crystals. Eventually, she (accidentally) conjured up a single flower-shaped object. The peculiar item seemed to capture all surrounding light, amplifying it to enhance its own unique, grey luminescence. "Oh, oh, like this but prettier!" she exclaimed, as she held out her creation. "Would Eein like to have it?"

Are you cold?

Ruffling her feathers, the bird realized that she was actually feeling a little chilly, save for the foreign heat radiating from her cheeks. Upon hearing the offer, Kueria simply nodded her head a little more timidly than she would have liked.

"Whoa.....how'd you make that?" he's gently touch the object curiously. "That's really cool," he'd smile and nod. "Thank you Kueria," he'd accept the item, looking it over curiously, "you have some handy tricks dont you?" He'd gently set the object beside him, intending to put it in his room with his snow globe collection.

He'd slip his coat onto her shoulders. "Once we get the next fish I'll get us a fire up, for warmth and to cook the fish," he'd check the rod. "A bit later this month I'll show you how I smoke fish, my guardian helps me rent a smoker this time of year."

"So you having fun?" he'd ask with a smile. "Not to boring for you?" he'd chuckle, he knew not everyone had the patience for fishing.

“Kueria makes stuff from air!” She was slightly taken aback as the other called her creations cool; no one had ever called her creations cool before. A rush of euphoria enveloped her being as she pondered: Kueria is cool? Kueria is cool????? Immediately snapping herself out of her daze, she said her thanks before ending off her speech with “Kueria thinks Eein is very cool too!”

The second the coat was slipped on, Kueria instantly picked up the fact that the scent was somehow different from her own. Well, of course it would be different - it wasn’t her coat. However, the girl was still getting used to this whole clothing concept, thus, she appeared a little stunned at first before she eased herself back to her usual composure. “Smoking fish sounds fun! Kueria’s very glad she’ll be able to learn how to do it!”

Not too boring for you?

The girl ardently shook her head before declaring a firm “No! Kueria loves fishing and spending time with Eein, it’s very fun! When did Eein learn how to fish?”

"Seems like you're really talented with air magic," he'd say, looking at the air freated object. "I'll make sure to put this in my room, a nice spot for it on my shelves," it'd make a perfect decoration along with his snow globes.

He'd lean back on his hands. "I learned when I was little," he'd say with a thoughtful him. "My parents taught me how to fish, to hunt, pretty much taught me everything." All that seemed so long ago, but he remembered it all well.

"Hopefully I can be as good a teacher as they were," he'd say, looking over to her. "You seem to be learning well," he'd say, giving her a smile.

The girl still somehow couldn't wrap her mind around so much praise, hence her cheeks were tinted ever so slightly in rosy hues. "Kueria is honoured to have her creation on display!" she said with some difficulty, stumbling across a few rather tough words.

As the dragon mentioned his parents, she began to wonder about her own. Surely she must have come from somewhere, it's quite far fetched to assume she simply appeared out of nowhere - even in a magical island where everything was far fetched to begin with. Turning to face Eein once more, she quickly reassured him with a "Kueria thinks Eein is a wonderful teacher! She've never learnt so much from anyone before! Kueria owes him many thanks." Letting a comfortable silence rest between them for a few beats, she then begun to vocalise her previous contemplation.

"Kueria... Kueria doesn't remember her parents." Humming for a short moment, she then continued "Actually, Kueria cant remember anything before being a pink birdie. Are parents nice? Were Eein's parents nice?"

"Yeah....yeah they were nice," he missed them, missed them every single day. "Thry taught me a lot....taught me pretty much everything," he'd smile a bit, though there was a tiny bit of sadness in the smile. "Don't worry, I'm sure you'll get your memories back one day."

The fishing rod would twitch, "looks like we have a bite." Scooting close he'd gently show her how to real it in, how to make sure their catch didn't get away, and soon enough they had the fish reeled in. "There we are," he'd grin, "you did good, you learn fast."

He'd set the fish in their cooler. "That should be enough for us," he'd look to her, "I'll get us a fire going and I'll show you how to prep the fish."

Kueria peered into the cooler, satisfied at the haul. Clasping her hands together as she turned to face the other, she addressed him in the most exuberant manner she could muster to cheer him up. “Thank you for teaching Kueria how to fish! Kueria is very grateful!” The young girl visibly hesitated in a moment’s contemplation before she eventually leaned in to wrap her arms round Eein in a light embrace. Instantly, a tirade of déjà vu washed over her as her mind lost itself in the distant past. Instincts took over whilst she sparred a glance upward to face her first friend. With her voice laced with an odd yet somehow natural maturity, she spoke:

"I really appreciate all your help, Eein."

Snapping out of the odd daze, Kueria let go of the hug and shifted back into her seat, giving her head a few shakes as she did so. Now, what was he talking about before the weird feeling came about? Oh yes, cooking. Getting her usual cheery composure back, she then enquired "Does Eein need Kueria to get any firewood?"

The hug surprised him, but he'd return it, his arms gently wrapping around her. "You're very welcome Kueria," he'd look down at her, "you can come to me whenever you need help." He'd hug her as long as she wished, releasing her when she was ready.

"If you'd like," he'd say with a smile, "you can get the smaller sticks, the dried kindling, I'll get the bigger pieces." Standing he'd quickly put the pole and things away. "A nice fire will keep us warm, and cook our food."

He didn't ask for his coat back, he knew she needed it more. "Let's get started," he'd quickly gather the wood, his enhanced strength letting him carry large amounts of it. When his friend brought kindling he'd place the larger pieces of wood on top of it.

"Ok, stand back a little," once she had he'd shoot a bit of electricity into the kindling, he'd blow on the spot until the fire started to grow. "There we are."
