Ah, yes, election season. Politics was in the air, candidates step up and advertise themselves to the public, making themselves sound good, promising, and reliable.
Bart wasn't buying it. He did his research. More than half of the people in the student council right now were not worthy of their positions. They were there for a reason and it was not to uphold the rights of students.
He didn't have a lot of leverage, being a new student and all but he had to do what must be done. He stalked around the courtyard to find a good spot where he could see more students swarming around and once he did, he quickly stepped onto one of the benches. The megaphone in his hand screeched as he powered it on. A few people turned and gave him weird looks while some looked like they were sick of seeing this sort of thing.
What they didn't know is that it wasn't anything of that sort. Bart wasn't campaigning. He was protesting.
"Attention, fellow students!
As you're all aware, the days are slowly counting down until the next student council elections. The current candidates are still the same, old, people that are seated in position. But may I ask you: are you satisfied with this? What have these people given us, the student body of Starlight Academy, as people, as individuals? I ask you, what did these people really promise you? Did they give you a solid platform of their goals as student council members?
The student council elections is not a pageant! It's not a popularity contest. The student council is not an accessory to be worn! It's a responsibility, an obligation to uphold the rights of every student in the school, to answer to the calls of the minority and the oppressed.
The student council is the voice of the student body. Why, I ask you, do you allow yourself to be misrepresented by people who pay no concern to those students who need their rights and privileges to be recognized?
My fellow students, what we need today is to seek change. Chose the candidates who are worthy of the position! We must start to respect ourselves and stop groveling to those who are simply charismatic, pretty or rich. Today is the day we stand as students, as citizens, and as people. Today, we fight for our rights!"
