Grant leaned back in a chair of the teachers lounge, his hat tipped over his face. He'd had a long day of teaching his solitary student the proper way to mix black powder, which was a surprisingly difficult task.

Grant had decided the best way to relax would be to just hang out in the climate controlled teachers lounge, and take a nap.

The old pirate was currently drifting in and out of sleep, his blunderbuss standing on it's end next to him. Rose was perching atop it, keeping a close eye on anyone who may walk into the room. And it just so happened...

"Skrawk! Attention on deck! Boots on the ground!" The parrot squawked, pecking at Grant, who lazily pushed his hat up to see who had walked in.

Draco had just finished his last class for the day, his folder tucked under his elbow as he walked into the teachers lounge. He had to meet someone later on downtown but hey he had some time to go back to his room and change. He needed to grab the papers from his 4th period class and then check on the pies from the 2nd period cooking class before leaving.

Before he could make it to his desk the squawk of a bird that announced his presence made him raise his brow at. There was a pirate sitting on a chair hat tipped back, only to have it lifted when the bird had squawked. Draco's hand lifted and he smiled as he walked towards his desk to grab things and put things away. Surely he had plenty of time right?

"Good evening."

Grant took in the new guy with a sleepy expression on his face. He hadn't seen this guy around, but then again he didn't know a great deal of the staff here. Always hiring new people, left and right. It got distracting sometimes.

"Good afta'noon." He replied, yawning. Rose flew from her firearm perch and circled Draco. "Skrawk!"

"Rose, calm down there lov'."

Wings, it made him want to fly, made him want to jump hop out the damn window and take a soaring flight. It had been ages since his last flying journey, his wings were probably weak. Eyes casting over his shoulders he glanced as far back onto his wing area as he could.

"Your right...my apologies its been a long day so far."

He was waiting to get off work so he could go buy a new shirt. Someone had ripped it off him and the buttons had flown off and the fabric torn. A small shake of his head and he would glance over head at the bird around him. He lifted an arm to offer it a place to land.

"Rose...what a pretty name...I am Draco Kitahara. I teach shadow controlling and...uh...baking."

Rose flew over and landed on his arm, looking him over. She squawked again, and continued staring.

Grant gave a two fingered salute again, chuckling at the parrot's antics. "Capn' Grant Mackenzie. Gunsmithin' an' sometimes i'm on th' board o' directors fer tha school." The pirate shrugged. "Rose 'ere be me Seein' Eye Parrot."

He chuckled and used the side of his index finger to draw it down the top of the parrots head. Looking over to the man he smiled and bowed his head a little. "Its a pleasure. Sometimes? Doesn't being on a board require you to be on it all the time?"

He moved to sit down in his chair a yawn radiating from him as he petted Rose again and let her nip at his fingers. "Gun smithing huh? That sounds quite interesting do you have any of your work on you? I would love to see it."

Grant chuckled as Rose crooned at the touch. She did like being rubbed on the head.

"Aye, but th' 'eadmistress knows 'ow i'd vote. I show up when it's impor'ant."

The pirate raised an eyebrow, and gestured to the blunderbuss that was sitting next to him, the one Rose was perching on previously.

"I 'ave Ol' smokey 'ere. She's me first work, an' me best. I've 'ad 'er a long time."

The accent was slightly more difficult to understand but with the hand gestures that the man was doing and the movements with his face. He guessed blunderbuss was his gun. He wasn't sure what he felt about a gun in schools but then again the whole school was filled with children/students that had special abilities. He figured that it was only right that a gun from a pirate was allowed.

"Do you have any others?"

He pulled a chair up and straddled it sitting into it. The arm that Rose sat on was leaned on the back of the chair so she could continue sitting there if she wanted. Draco was interested, always interested in pirate stories. His parents had been pirates but they didn't talk like the man before him.

"When was the last time you went on a voyage?"

Rose chose to fly off his arm, landing on the table Grant was currently sitting at. She squawked at Grant, who put a few crackers onto the table. Rose began to peck at them, eating the treats.

"I 'ave a few, but ol' smokey 'as been with me since th' beginnin." Grant picked the gun up and held it out for Draco to observe. The gun looked almost brand new, thanks to the constant upkeep of Grant. One side of the stock had 'Old Smokey' carved into it, with several notches underneath, at least 30.

"A proper voyage...?" Grant leaned back and thought, a frown briefly spreading across his face as he remembered his last voyage.

"Th' last voyage i went on was...a long long time ago, lad."

((holy crap I thought I was waiting on your post! I'm sorry!))

"That is great I have a sword version that has been with me since I was little boy. He has a personality of his own sometimes and depending on how happy he is with me now depends on how well he wants to work with me."

Sometimes they were in perfect sync but sometimes they weren't. It sucked if his sword was mad at him but he didn't say anything like that. Instead the conversation turned back to the voyage he asked about. No no he wasn't asking to join a voyage, he wanted to hear of one. Draco was one for stories. He loved hearing of others adventures. His father had never really had much of one due to his masochistic ways to his mother.

"I'm sorry, I did not mean to pry."

He could tell the man wasn't exactly great with sharing that story. He wondered now how badly it had gone for him not to share the story. Instead he shared one of his own.

"I wish I would have brought my sister here with me...I think she would have liked this place."

Sadly for him, his sisters place was with his mother, the one and only woman that had shunned all the males beside his father, and that included Draco.
