Emily just sat there, watching over Lei in his bed. Her expression had gone from from it's normal small cheeriness to a drained pallor of neutrality. Her eyes had been darkened by tears, but she'd long since finished crying. She wasn't entirely sure how long she'd been there today, or how many collective hours she'd spent just watching Lei. Her pattern had because she'd stay in Lei's dorm when she had free hours, and then wouldn't leave again until studies or sleep forced her to.
Today was a day off for her, so she'd been there a while. She'd just shown up in a t-shirt and blue pajama pants covered in little ice cream cones. She also had a scarf around her neck that she would snuggle into occasionally. Her hair was a mess, and she basically looked like she'd just got out of bed, which was more or less true, cause she'd come right over.
She glanced about the small room idly. Em knew Clarence was here somewhere, He'd been a fixture since she'd discovered Lei's condition. Sid was probably around somewhere too, cleaning maybe, possibly getting snacks or something. Many others of Lei's friends came and went as the days went by. Em let her eyes drift back to Lei as she let out a heavy sigh. She was supposed to be helping them too, helping them coupe, lending them an ear, but she just didn't know what to do about it if they didn't come to her.
It wasn't often that she was alone in the room though, usually there was at least one more person, trying to feed Lei, or just visiting, talking. Without anyone else, the room felt incredibly empty. Emily pulled her scarf up over her lips and nose, guarding against the encroaching loneliness. Did Lei feel lonely too?... It occurred to Em that she really didn't know. What good was it to be able to taste emotions when she couldn't get the smallest flavor out of Lei right now.
Slowly, She slid forward off her chair and crawled into the bed with Lei, Laying her head on his shoulder as she snuggled against him, the covers still separating them. "..... Are you lonely Lei?..... Don't be... I'm here..." She didn't expect an answer, Em was satisfied with just his presence for that moment as she let a few stray tears fall onto his sleeve.
