Crowther Mansion

The home of the extensively wealthy Crowther family, old money and magic, who have been on the island for almost as long as the academy itself.

Head of the household, Alva Crowther, has the mansion both out for rent for events, open to tours, and other things. She will often have important individuals over for small networking/pleasant get togethers, as well as allow them to stay in the guest wing if they need or want to- and being involved in any of this is considered a great honor.

Clarence Crowther- a college kid, well known for being high up on the social circle food chain- holds a great deal of big, flashy parties at the mansion, and has been doing so since his early teen years. It's likely that if you have a character in a certain age group, they've been to one or more, and they most certainly know about them. It's more unusual to have not been to one or vaguely aware of them, really. Blasphemous. Anyone who's anyone, or just enjoys a damn good party, makes sure to be seen at them.

Crowther mansion is three stories tall, not even counting the underground levels. (Apparently, as well as a nice wine cellar and basement, there are expansive tunnels with some less than pleasant rumors around them.) And it's as stereotypically high class and out there as you could get, shamelessly, so that is just manages to own it. Location wise, it's a decent ways away from the city, up in the hills and in its own little private area. It has a lot of acres to its name.

The interior of the mansion mirrors the exterior a great deal. Very spacious, with quality decoration and furniture that's either expensive or clearly an old family heirloom. There are many different rooms, big and small, for all purposes and occasions that you could think of. There have been some years where the Crowther family have simply kept themselves away in their own house, away from everyone else, self sustaining and very secretive, before popping back into the world again.

The more personal wings of the house, on the third floor, whether it be for the family themselves or guests (there are guest rooms both on the second and third floor, second is more casual), are a bit more cozy. Cozy, but still showy and extravagant. The family wing has very professional and powerful protection wards (and alerts that would go to the right people) on it, which are especially around for when parties are happening and someone might try to simply slip in. The second precaution for cases like those and in general is private security, part of the large family employed staff, as well as an electronic system.

The third wing of the third floor is off limits for most, even when there aren't parties, even to servants and house guests. It's what Julius Crowther, former head of house and husband to the current head, used to have as his space- until he disappeared without a trace, supposedly thanks to a 'private family matter'. Currently, it's the space of Valentine Crowther, twin sibling to Clarence, known for being incredibly unhealthy but very magically powerful. He has quite the history.

As well as being the living space of the icy, death-woven son, it was always a darker wing. It holds a small master study/library, a lot of rooms that contain less stable, old magical artifacts and treasures- and supposedly, openings to secret passageways in the walls and hidden rooms.

How could there not be a ballroom? Good for both very classy events and getting totally cleared out for all dancing activity.

There's a back porch/lounge area when you first go outside in the back, and a lot of nice spots for having pleasant afternoon tea.

Further in the immediate back is a more than reasonably large pool, with even more places to sunbathe.

It has a waterfall, a slide, and a small cave area. How could anyone resist that?

Back further across the acres are the gardens, which are very wide and good for both morning and evening walks.

Tucked away in almost the very back of the property is a large hedge maze. In the very middle of it, a building that leads down to the underground Crowther family tomb (as well as another way into the tunnels). But that's usually locked up. Instead, if you get through the labyrinth, you can climb the winding metal stairs up to a little roof area and look out over the maze or settle down for a while with a little solitude. Within the deep maze itself, there are many little easter eggs per se, places to catch your breath, pretty things, secret interesting things, and slightly questionable things. It's not advised to go into the maze at night, not unless you're family, and even then you should be careful.

All Crowther family members living on the property know the maze by heart. Only Valentine is that way with the underground.

(underground) Tunnels, things that should be left well alone, very old things that are remnants of even more dangerous and secretive times, dirty places and all too clean and orderly rooms, mysteries that both lead terrible places and nowhere at all, old rooms that might have been used for torture purposes and others for private jailing, at least one or two specific tunnels that lead out and away to the city and beyond, tunnels that have long since collapsed

End notes

Feel free to PM me about renting space in the mansion out for any reasons! Or any similar such things~ I'm not the only one who should be able to start threads with this location.

Go ahead and ask me if you'd want to have a character be on the Crowther mansion staff, as well. They employ a number of different people, often very solidly and for life, but they have to be absolutely trustable. The Crowther family does not take professional betrayal lightly.

Don't roleplay on or reply to this thread, it's for information listing only. Tag your thread with 'crowther mansion' post in the residential area if rping in this location.
