Vieve hated these cultural festivals.

She didn't hate them because she disliked the idea of it. Far from it; Vieve was happy to be out with her fellow shape-shifters, spreading awareness and tolerance for their kind, and all that jazz.

What Vieve did not like was paper mache.

Their stand at the cultural festival was a last minute thing. In the spirit of recylcing, Vieve had brought stacks of ripped up newspapers and magazines, old bowls, glue, and wire forms, so participants could come and create an animal mask.

It was supposed to symbolize how pretending to be human all the time could feel like wearing a mask.

It was also kind of fun, she supposed, if you didn't mind getting splashed with waterly glue everytime an enthusiastic kid stuck their hands in the mess. She really, really hoped that someone else from the club would get here soon.

Lonan's ears flicked and swiveled in every direction as he took in the sounds of the festival. This was his first time being in public without a hat on, and getting to move his ears freely felt great. He would've liked to have his tail free, too, but his pants currently lacked a hole for it. For now it was tucked inside them. The black fur could be seen sticking out from the bottom of his right leg. It occasionally twitched while he wandered around the school grounds.

He was hoping to find something interesting; something he could only find on an island supposedly filled with other supernatural creatures. So far, everyone he passed looked like an ordinary human. That was boring.

He paused when he spotted a booth labeled Shape-Shifters Non-Anonymous. The non-anonymous part had him a bit confused. Was it some kind of help group? He didn't think he needed any help, but he was a shape-shifter. He decided to check it out.

When he got closer, he noticed the container of goo, and the mess surrounding it. His ears flattened. That looked like something he did not want to get on his suit. "What the hell is that?" he asked in a voice tinged with an Irish accent.

Sebastian decided to take a walk around the festival, he wasn't in any clubs and he didn't really have any plans to join any clubs. He only just joined the academy and he didn't really have many friends other than Izzy and Mochi, deciding to just check things out he started looking at the stalls. There was the idol club, the music club and many other random clubs he had no interest in joining. Suddenly at the end of the line he saw a club that he didn't even know existed or could ever be a thing.

There it was the Shapeshifter non-anonymous club, it had a weird title but he could tell that this was the club he was meant to join. Walking up to the stall he stood there looking at the paper mache and stuff, he didn't really understand what everything was about but decided to ask anyway. Seeing that someone else was there who seemed to have the same look on their face he felt confident.

"Yeah, um hey. What's this stall meant to stand for?" Once he asked he could smell the scent of a fellow werewolf, a smile immediately appeared on his face as his own eyes started to glow as he looked at the woman at the stall.

"That," Vieve said, indicating to the start of the mask the child was making before her. "Is a mess. it's also incredibly fun."

She eyed Lonan** in his suit. His ears were a giveaway that he probably wasn't human, but she was never one to assume. The Manta Carlos Islands were a strange place indeed.

"You look like you could use some fun. We have aprons," she explained.

She was about to explain further when another man approached and her nose caught the familiar scent of another wolf.

She flashed Sebastian a smile, her own eyes darkening as her pupils dilated a fraction in a physical response.

"This," Vieve waved to the stand with a glue-covered hand. "Is Shapeshifters Non-Anonymous. We are the academy's Shapeshifting Club. Too often, Shapeshifters and Shapechangers feel that we need to change ourselves to be human just to fit in."

Her eyes had started to light up as she spoke, and though Vieve was a rather composed individual, it was obvious there was some passion behind this.

"But at Shapeshifters NonAnonymous, we don't have to hide behind a mask. We get to be ourselves, our whole selves, regardless of the shape we choose."

Having made her inspirational part of it, Vieve shrugged and seemed to change back to the exasperated woman who was just flicked in the face with glue by the kid still working on his mask.

"We do community outreach for shapeshifters, hold monthly meetings in the woods, and sometimes go on a big group hunt up in the mountains," she said. She looked at the two men and then down at her hands and laughed.

"I'd offer to shake your hands, but I don't want to get glue on you. My name is Vieve Corbeau, and I'm an employee here at the academy. It's nice to meet you both."

** I'm aware Vieve doesn't know their names, but since they're both identifying as male I didn't want their to be confusion with pronouns. xD

Lonan only half listened while the woman explained what the club was. It sounded like a decent place to hang out, but he was still very intrigued by the apparently fun blob on the table. It didn't look fun. It looked like a forgotten bowl of oatmeal. He wondered what it felt like.

Without any warning, he reached in front of the child, and poked it. It felt gross and squishy, and yet somehow it was firmer than he expected it to be. He poked it again harder, and made a little dent. The child was obviously displeased, and quickly slapped a piece of sopping wet newspaper over Lonan's contribution to his art. The pooka finally looked up from the table as the glue splattered onto the woman.

He thought she looked annoyed. He'd be annoyed too if the kid splashed goop on him. The nerve of some children.

Lonan smiled like had done nothing wrong as he listened to rest of the women's spiel. He thought she had a pretty name. "Nice to meet ye. The name's Lonan O'Hearn," he replied.

He glanced down at his own hands, and saw that some of the glue had splashed onto him as well. It was just little specks on the end of his sleeve, but he still didn't like it. He glared at the child, and wiped his sleeve on it's back. The kid protested, but Lonan ignored him. His attention had already shifted to the cute blonde boy standing next to him. Lonan was eager to learn his name.

Ignatius had attended the academy, just as his father had, and his father's father before that. The school had been much the same in his day, although he'd found it growing more and more diverse. Locals - people who had been born and raised on the island - had always been outnumbered by newcomers. But in recent years it had seemed like more and more were coming in. Had rumors spread? Or had the school simply gotten that much better at finding those who needed them?

It could have been either, or both. Ignatius was betting on both.

He made a point of trying to make it to the school festivals at least once a year, but which one he attended remained a tossup. This time it was the club festival, and he found himself looking at a lot of clubs that were half familiar and half strange. Certainly they'd had a book club back in his day, but the teachers tended to be different, and it no doubt focused on different things. Twenty years was a long time, and things changed in that time. In his day there had been a little club for shapeshifters, but it had certainly not been called shapeshifters non-anonymous. No, it had just been called the shapeshifters club, and he'd all but ran it for two of his college years.

He was not immediately recognizable as a shapeshifter at all, although he was clearly something that wasn't human. At seven feet tall, he loomed over the multitude of students (and the majority of the teachers), and his black sclera, white irises, and sharp teeth made sure no one would think he was completely human.

He stood near the booth, wearing only a slightly less fancy outfit than usual. He'd have looked more at home on a high class golf course than he did at the festival, but he had just as much of a right to be there as anyone... except for the fact that he was staring at the pot of glue with a look of intense distaste. Was that paper mache?

Sebastian's ears perked up and his eyes widened, there was a club here at this school for people like him? Maybe he could meet some more Werewolves, he put his hands on the counter. "How would one be able to join this club? I am very interested. My Name is Sebastian Santora, Werewolf and First Year in the college level." He was about to outstretch his hand but remembered there was glue everywhere.

He looked over to the kid making his mask and the other man standing next to him and smiled. "Nice to meet you Lonan." It seemed Lonan didn't have any glue on him so he decided to outstretch his hand to him for a friendly handshake as it seemed he two were both interested in the stall the only logical explanation would be that Lonan was also a ShapeShifter of some sort.

Lonan was only a few inches shorter than him but they seemed to be around the same age. "Were you thinking about joining this club too? I really hadn't thought about there being many other ShapeShifters here. I feel it would be a good experience." All in all Sebastian wasn't one for much outward display of satisfaction but he was just excited to maybe find other werewolves who didn't want to kill him at first glance.

Sebastian noted a man behind Lonan who must have just popped up while they were talking, the man looked old and he was wearing a semi formal outfit, he mustn't be from the school. Sebastian simply watched him his scent was something he hadn't smelt before.

"Lonan, Sebastian," Vieve said, taking in both of their names and giving a courteous nod in place of a handshake.

Vieve cast a glance at the new man who had just joined them, and she cracked a sharp-tooth grin at his disbelieving face. Vieve grabbed an apron from behind the booth and tossed it at Ignatius.

"You look like you want to get in on some paper mache," she said to him. "It'll improve that look on your face."

She wiggled her butt a little bit like she might have been wagging a tail, and Vieve dunked her own hands back into the mess and added another strip to the mask she was making. The shape of hers wasn't exactly a wolf--it looked more like one of those Japanese fox masks, which was honestly Vieve's intention.

"Lonan, Sebastian, would you care to get in on the mask-making, too? " she looked at their outfits and grinned again. "We have more aprons, and you can pick up your mask at the end of the day once it has had time to dry."

She was light on her feet as she moved to touch the masks hanging on the wire wrack set up behind her. Most of them were still a little soft, but the plague-doctor-looking-mask someone had made that morning was almost dry enough to go in a paper bag for the person to carry it home. There was a lightness about her that made it hard to believe that she worked for the school or ran any sort of werewolf groups, but it was just all part of shapeshifting for her.

"Do you gentlemen have any questions?" she asked, looking over her shoulder to check on them all.

Lonan grinned as he returned Sebastian's handshake. There was a slight shifting under the fabric of his pants as his tail tried to wag. He thought the blonde was rather stiff, but his physical attractiveness more than made up for it. A pretty face was really all he cared about anyway.

"I was thinkin' about it. I suppose I will join the club if yer in it," he said, his grin widening.

His attention was grabbed by the apron that went sailing through the air.

When he was saw who it was for, he suddenly felt very, very short. The grin on his face quickly faded into a small frown. He was used to being an inch or two shorter than other men at home, but this was ridiculous. The man towered over him by nearly one and a half feet! Lonan was half tempted to shift into a giraffe just so he could be the tallest one.

He was so preoccupied about the man's height that the strange eyes barely crossed his mind. He even fixed his posture to make sure he was standing at his full height.

His ears twitched when he heard Vieve say his name, and he turned his gaze back to the booth. He was apprehensive about her suggestion to make a mask. He still thought the goop looked disgusting, but it was interesting as well. When she called them all gentlemen he smirked.

"Ah, alright, I'll make one if ye give me an apron," he said, and unbuttoned his suit jacket. He draped it over one of his arms as he unbutton and rolled up his sleeves.

There were two boys a few feet away, and one of them was wearing a suit. Perhaps it was strange that his first thought was of the boys suit, and not the pair of animal ears perched atop his head, but he considered himself a businessman first and foremost, and a shifter second.

He was certainly not expecting anything to get tossed at him, and he nearly missed it entirely. His hand shot out, and he snatched the apron from the air, staring down at it for a moment before holding it back out, returning it to the tosser. "No thank you. The smell is quite enough for me." And he felt no real reason to make a mask of what he was. Most people could already tell he wasn't human quite easily. The eyes, the teeth - they all screamed that he was different, and unless he wanted to cause a small panic, meant he would be best to stay on the islands.

He did take a moment to lean over a bit, eyeing the mask. A fox? Something canine looking, either way. He glanced over at the boy in the suit before moving, holding out his apron for the boy to take. He was a grown man, and he wasn't about to get up to his elbows in papier-mâché.

"You can have mine." He glanced back up at the woman, considering how best to word his question. "Is the club all mammalian shifters right now?" Bird shifters had decent enough numbers, but reptilian shifters seemed far rarer. It seemed the closer an animal was to human in physiology, the more likely it was that someone would be a shifter for it.
