Faeyt sat in the office of the infirmary. She was such a tiny little girl, though she had blood running down her pale face - she had hit her head against the pavement during an unexpected fit.

She had been accompanied by the pre-k instructor but then she had to go and take care of the other children; figuring that Faeyt would be watched after by whomever was in the infirmary office, she left her there with a bloody towel held against her head.

The little girl was crying hysterically, shrieking about ravens and shadows. She was quite scared - how could she not be? Her power (though it was classified currently as an epilepsy vision, not an actual omen/banshee ability) scared her to death, and nobody believed her about the 'dreams' (which is what she called the visions).

She was snuggled into her chair, her head had stopped bleeding - it was only a minor injury but head injuries bleed a lot as it was. The bloody towel is in the seat next to her and she's trying to sleep - which is not a good idea for someone with a head injury, but what does she know, she's a kid.

A few moments later, she feels someone sit down next to her, and this wakes her from her dazed slumber, and starts up a new torrent of tears. Surely the nurse would be out to see her soon.

A young man with hair that trailed in front of part of his face sat down next to the crying girl. He wasn't feeling particularly sick; he just finished tending to the gardens outside. The groundskeeper was silently passing down the hallway as he pursued the teachers' lounge for some snacks. No one took note of him as he went on his way. His eyes pointed forward, but his thoughts were in another realm. His guitar was strapped to his back. There was not much to be done today; the heat was manageable, so the flowers were in no way starving. He also lacked a conversation partner and his music player. It was perhaps these factors that contributed to his detour.

His vision spotted an upset child as he passed by the open door of the infirmary. Sai stopped in his tracks. Healing was not his job, but it seemed like the girl was in pain. Perhaps he could at least soothe her. His head popped into the door frame. A full scan gave him several bits of information. The nurse was not taking care of this girl yet. There was a bloody towel next to her that was more than likely hers. She wasn't crying, but her face suggested that she had been. Feeling pity, he moved in to sit down next to her. The towel was moved out of the way. He wasn't sure if he had been noticed.

Apparently he had been for the girl began to cry once more. A frown appeared on the siren's face. He grasped for the guitar and carefully pulled it out. He was able to get a better look of her from up close. She was a cute little blonde with pointed ears. He couldn't identify her race, but that didn't matter. His fingers lightly strummed the guitar as he played a relaxing melody. His body radiated energy through his fingers as the magic began to flow through each note. He was a sound healer; through music, he could heal many wounds. With his powers, he would try his best to assist her.

Faeyt began to calm, staring at the stranger with the nice music. She liked music. She puffed her cheeks out and rubbed her face harshly, drying her tears - or at least trying too. She began to giggle quietly and clap her hands, completely unaware as to what his ability was doing to her.

She lifted her arms up abruptly, a silent demand to be held was obviously what she was giving. She was not afraid of strangers - she actually spent a good amount of her time asking strangers if they were her parents. That's all the little girl wanted, parents.

She blew air at the man's hands, the guitar, and giggled softly to herself. Otherwise, she did not speak, just amused little giggles.

The little girl stopped crying as he was playing the guitar. He glanced over while freely strumming at the strings. The giggles compelled him to do so. The progressively happier face lit up his heart. He smiled back as he kept going. He would only stop when the little lady asked him to by signalling with her hands. He then slowly put down the guitar. It sat on the other side as his body shifted to face her. Before the guitar was placed, she had blown air at his hands and the instrument. The groundskeeper wasn't sure why, but he was amused anyway. Maybe she was blowing a kiss.

He then realized that he didn't know her name. Of course he didn't, he just wandered into the infirmary as she was sitting here. He bowed as best as he could towards the applause without getting up from his seat. As he finished bowing, he pretended to tip an invisible hat to her by miming it with one of his hands. Since he was unable to speak, and she most likely didn't know hand signs, he would have to find a different way to articulate his words to her. He attempted to use his lips and expressions to try and help her understand him.

"What is your name?"

On what, his hands were extended in a shrugging kind of fashion. On your, he pointed directly at her. On name, one hand lifted up to draw out the word NAME in the air. His finger would "write" in the the air in such a way that it would be clearly spelled out for the girl. He took it slowly enough and moved his finger over like a pen on paper so that she would have a chance to see each letter. He hoped that the little girl could understand what he was doing or at the very least figure that he was mute.

The child studied the strange man, before she clambered across the chairs to sit on her knees and reach for his moving hands. She had no idea what was happening, she couldn't really spell but he pointed at her and tried to spell something - she just couldn't read.

"Faeyt. Faeyt. Mister nice man no talk?" She inquired, staring upwards. She had never met someone who couldn't talk before. She furrowed her brow lightly, studying the man. He seemed nice, even if he couldn't talk! It was like that game with the clues but no words!

She giggled at that thought, and shook her head hard. "Are you my daddy?" She inquired, finally. She asked everyone. It was how she saw the people of the world - everyone was plausible to be her parents. She just wanted to be loved, after all.

He noticed her little hands reach out for his. Once he was finished motioning, he allowed for the two pairs of hands to touch. Hers were so tiny compared to his. If it wasn't for all his time on land, the concept of having hands would've been outright weird to him. To think that the moment he was submerged in water that he would lose those hands. The man wished he could articulate his words to the girl instead of forcing her into a guessing game. Her wit was quick though; she noticed his muteness right away. Of course, that wasn't hard for many people to realize. That didn't stop some from thinking he was ill somehow.

She nevertheless gave her name. He lightly nodded as she questioned his lack of talking. His green eyes focused on hers. She seemed rather perplexed by this. That wasn't a surprise; mutes weren't exactly common. However, her next words made it clear it was his turn to be baffled. Her daddy?! Where in the world did that come from?! They didn't even have similar physical traits to even suggest that! Not to mention that Sai wasn't sexually active. Even if he was, he would've used protection. Failing that, he would never abandon a woman that had his child. He was too loyal for that. His head tilted to the side in mild confusion.

That was when it hit him: She wasn't asking that because of plausibility but because she WANTED one.

Yeah, that had to be it. It made sense, but it brought about deep sadness within him. Who could leave this cute child on her own like this? With that said, the question spurred not an answer from the mute but an action. He hugged the girl close in a loving brotherly/fatherly fashion. Knowing that she was small and just got her wounds healed, he was gentle but still firm with his hug. His head tilted down to glance at her cute face once more. The groundskeeper silently comforted the little girl.

Faeyt accepted the hug, she adored being held and coddled. She snuggled into the man and crooned quietly, peering upward expectantly. She wanted an answer. Was he her daddy? Daddies hugged their daughters, didn't they? Then again, she'd been hugged by a lot of people and they had never turned out to be her parents.

Perhaps she was just not a wantable child. She was getting older, and the older kids said the older she got the less likely someone would want her. She furrowed her brow at this thought, biting her lip as she stared down at her lap.

Suddenly, she remembered the wound - and a small hand shot upright to press against her head, squeaking in a very baffled manner as there was no pain, no nothing.

Sai was debating his options as he hugged her. While biologically he wasn't her father, he could still serve as her adoptive father or guardian. He didn't want to tell her no for it would break her heart. Plus it wouldn't be true to what he felt. Then he also contemplated if he even knew how to take care of a child. He could heal her sure, but what else could he do? Well...he was able to cook well. He could probably use some of his salary to get her necessities. Was his place big enough? It was a bit small, but he could make it work. This would be awkward to explain to his parents though; there was no way he could get her to visit them underwater. He would just have to get them to come over.

Thus it was settled.

He was adopting her.

As she expressed shock over her injury being entirely gone, he put a bit of distance between himself and her. He wanted her to get a clear view of him. His hands remained wrapped around her. His glance pointed downward into her eyes. The man's face widen into a smile as he then nodded yes. He would be her adoptive father. There was about to be a bunch of paperwork in store for him.

The child stared upward, blinking once, twice, and then again as the man nodded an answer to her. She had a daddy? She really had a daddy? The mere thought made the little creature's eyes tear up.

Though he knew there was going to be a lot of paperwork in store just for adopting, there was also going to be paperwork in store for all of her medical needs - most of them caused by her ability to see omens of death - but nobody knew it was a power; they thought it was hallucinations.

She peered up at him for a second, before squealing, as if she had just realized what had happened. "I has daddy!"

Her happy squeal made him melt with joy. She was so cute! He was lucky to have found such a cute daughter. It was going to be a big responsibility for him, but he was ready for it...or at least he believed so. It would be one heck of a learning experience, but at the end of the day, he was happy to have made this girl's life cheerier than it was before. He hugged his child again just as a nurse walked out into the waiting room.

"Oh, hello Sai! Who is that girl with you?"

Sai sometimes came by to the infirmary and used his sound magic to heal people. It wasn't his job, but it gave the physicians less to deal with during their busy times. He lifted up one hand and began using signals to communicate with her.

"She is my daughter. I am adopting her. She had a head injury, but I healed it."

"Oh, how wonderful! Mind if I just give her a quick check up then?"

Sai glanced over at Faeyt and smiled. He tilted his head towards the nurse to signal for her to go ahead. He would wait for her if she decided to go.
