Evie, in sharp contrast, wasn't exerting any effort whatsoever. She adjusted herself mid-flight to look like she was leaning forward with her chin resting on her hands, smug smirk on her face.

"Mhm, sure thing there buddy." She giggled. "Let me know if you need me to sloooow down!"

She did a small flip, just to flex, before she did eventually start to slow down as they approached the city itself. She gently lowered herself down to land on one of the smaller rooftops, snatching one of the beer cans out of the air and popping it open.

"Feel free to grab one yourself or whatever," She waved a hand dismissively as she sat at the lip of the roof, starting to chug.

Sidney just kept flying along while Evie teased and showed off. She was running out of breath, but still spoke because there was no way she was going to let that fly without assuring her that this pace was fine. "Never! I could go all day like this!"

Though when they started slowing down, the moth gal was pretty thankful. That was more of a workout than she'd had in a while. When she got her feet on the ground, she leaned over, taking a minute to catch her breath before letting out a tired laugh. "You're crazy." Then she went over to the beer cans floating in the air and gave it a poke before grabbing a hold of it and quickly snapping it open and taking a gulp.

"So what? Is your thing that you can float stuff?"

She eventually pulled the can away with a long sigh, wiping her lip with the back of her hand as the familiar warmth spread through her body. She leaned over, turning to face, expression no less smug than it was before.

"Ehhh, it's a bit more complicated than that." She said shrugging mysteriously. "I'll give ya a hint to figure it out."

She casually reached over and gave her shoe a tap, The shoe would suddenly get heavier, not enough to be painful or anything, but enough to definitely make lifting it noticeably harder. She kept talking as if nothing had changed.

"Meanwhile I guess your thing is being a fuzzy purple goro?"

Sidney instinctively pulled her foot back to have a look and see what was wrong with it, but that became pretty clear just by moving it. She squinted and set her foot back down then raised the other to compare. “Weight manipulation?...” That didn’t completely explain the flying through the air though.

“My thing is being super hot, super fly and ruling the sky.” She seemed to recover from being so tired, at least enough to do a spin and fly up a few meters as she spoke. When in the air, her one foot seemed to be weighted down more than the other.

She quickly landed back down again. “Well, I don’t really rule the sky, but I’d say I’m basically the best graffiti artist on the island. So I rule like the...” She thought it over for a moment. “Abandoned buildings and alleyways with good spots for laying down paint... But that doesn’t quite roll off the tongue like sky.”

Evie had another laugh to herself at the explanation, swaying a little in her seat as she had another swig of her drink.

"Heheh, I can think of a couple other people who might have taken the best graffiti artist on the island spot first, you'll have to get in line there. And I'm no slouch there either. I can draw a mean-ass stick man lemme tell ya what."

She drained the last of her booze, reduced the cans gravity as much as she could, then suddenly yeeted the thing at the building closest to them, hard, watching it bounce off the wall with a hollow clang. It made her feel a little better about her currently wasted night.

"You sound fun, though," she laid back on the roof, smirking at Sidney upside down as she reached for her next drink. "Been on the island long now? I feel like I would have noticed the super hot queen of the sky earlier if you were."

She'd probably been on the island a whole lot longer than Evie, but it made sense that she hadn't seen her around much, she hadn't been unfrozen for long after all.

"Yeah, been on the island my whole life, like thirty years. Can't blame ya for not noticing me though, been frozen for a good twelve of those." She cracked her knuckles (all of her knuckles). "Now I gotta take back the sky all over again, cause it looks like everyone basically forgot who owned it."

She drank again, surprised that her drink was already empty and flipping it upside down to be sure. Then she looked around and realized that a lot of it spilled when she did her stupid little air spin.

"What about you? How long have you been here?"

Evie was about to start on her next drink before she perked up at the mention of the freezing.

"Ooooh, huh. You were involved in all that Dark Crystal Thingimajig stuff?" She sat back up, shifting to face her properly, crossing her legs under her. "I've only been here for like a year and a bit, guess that makes you a real local then."

She gestured loosely to the city streets below them.

"So I guess this whole weird ass island must be pretty normal for you, huh? Even with your weird timey wimey shit?"

“Hm.” Sidney seemed to think about something for a second before responding. “Yeah, grew up with all the weird and kinda got used to it I guess.”

“I’m not as used to everything as I used to be though. Ever since the death of magic stuff started getting serious, there’s been a whole new brand of weird around here.” She sighed then took on a lighter tone to avoid stressy stuff. “The fancy new gizmos don’t help either. Phones ain’t even magic and now they make me feel like an old lady. They got rid of buttons for crying out loud, how do you remove the damn buttons?” She was a mix of joking and frustrated, but mostly just joking around.

"Magic death, right..."

Evie had, of course, missed almost all the news about the death of magic, the shunting of the island, the DCA, all of that due to her incarceration. That period might have been short in the grand scheme of things but it still weighed heavily on her and combined with all the shit that happened after it was, well, a lot.

She chugged her drink, perhaps a little too quick to seem natural, before tossing it hard at the wall much in the same manner as she did the first.

"Well!" She reached for another drink. "Clearly you have a lotta catching up on, you oooooold lady." She giggled, slurring a little as she stretched out the word, teasing grin on her face. "No wonder you looked so wiped out after a little flying, must be the old age catching up with ya"

She swayed a little, before bouncing into the air and uncrossing her legs, landing on her feet and leaning in with a mischievous grin.

"At least you're cooler than like half the nerds I've met from your old school, well, aside from Nea but she like half counts."

“Tell me something I don’t know.” She went and grabbed another floaty beer without asking. She let out a giggle as she went to clarify something. “I was only having trouble cause you weren’t even flying.” She put on a sophisticated act. “Ahem. To quote a very legendary cowboy, that wasn’t flying, it was falling with style.”

She popped open the can in her hand and drank some more. Eyes widening when Evie did the trick. “Heh, course I am, and well, you aren’t so bad yourself.” Her eyes widened a little afterward when a connection formed in her head. She started choking, then pounded her chest a little until she stopped. “Nea? Like Aranea?”
