Fate had a funny way of playing with him.
There were a few things Ildefons knew he could simply control through his own decisions and actions but there was always the thing about chance and luck that almost always took him by surprise. Today was just one of those days. He didn't think being at the faculty room at a time like that could lead to a curious reunion. He was asked to assist another student with bringing documents to the other office; he of course didn't want to decline but who would have known it was going to lead to their second meeting.
It had already been a few days since the incident in the Underground when he'd, well, saved her. But that was an meeting he didn't speak of, mostly from fear of being asked why he was there in the first place: him, in the darkest corner of the city? No, never. When he saw her, he only smiled at her -- a tight-lipped smile reserved for strangers, and greeted her politely. He avoided her gaze for the most part, trying to avoid a conversation while they were in someone else's presence.
Admittedly, it was a very awkward silence that wrapped around them as they walked down the hallway, with him silently praying she didn't talk while there were people around them.
