Clouds rolled across the sky, filtering the sunlight into a pale grey. a very slight breeze wound it's way between the buildings, cooling faces and hands under an already brisk temperature. It was the epitome of autumn weather, just cold enough to be inviting to some.
Emily was one of those people. Her jacketed form wandered along the sidewalk as her hands turned the pages of a rather thick book of poems. Her walk hadn't really been planned per say, she had just found herself outside and had begun to meander about with her new reading material.
Some particular combination or poetry seemed to have her engrossed. Her head would tilt from one side to the other as she walked and considered it. It had her mind so completely enraptured she didn't even realize she'd walked into the shady side of the city. That is, until she bumped into a rather large man who had placed himself in her way.
"Oh! I... I-I'm sorry..." Her book fell to the ground, and she knelt down to pick it before glancing around and realizing what had happened. The man was not alone. He had four friends that were encircling Emily slowly. "Yous lost Darlin'? Why would a pretty little thing like yous be wandrin' here? It's dangerous yaknow."
Emily's face fell sharply, fear etching deeply into her features. Her body stiffened up, save for tiny movements of her legs backing her against the building next to her, and her tongue darting across her lips rapidly. She could taste these people had nothing but malevolence directed at her.
The big guy looked to be a half-troll, or something like it. Covered in muscles, and with little horns and a grin full of large teeth. Time seemed frozen for Emily for several moments, but it cracked once he reached for her.
A piercing scream broke past her throat, and her panicked mind sent her shoving passed the group. By some miracle, she made it passed them, but all this meant was she was running farther into the underground. She stumbled making a sharp turn into an alleyway, and crashed into the ground. after sliding a bit, she scrambled to get to her feet again. What am I going to do?!
