Personality Description: Vlad is a calm and observant teen who carries himself with an air of personal security and peace. Vlad has learned to enjoy his place in existence and tries his best not to let things sour his mood. He spends his free time studying the monasteries texts and practicing with his fellow monks. When he is in a more social mood one could find him hanging out in an arcade or taking his sisters to the park.
These choices may lead others to believe he is outgoing but in actuality, he prefers his time alone. This is to say he is more introverted and would choose to spend his time alone in the dorm meditating than going out with classmates for a party. This abundance of time alone has caused him to develop the tick of talking to himself aloud when working through something. Sometimes if he is deep enough in thought he will go through full conversations or arguments. For those outside the monastery, this may seem strange but his fellow monks and mentors don't think much of it and allow him to work how he pleases.
Vlad is also not the best student when it comes to academia as he fails to understand where it will come into play for his future life as a monk. His teachers and mentors have tried to tear this idea out of him but his mind is pretty set that school is minuscule in comparison with his spiritual studies. As it stands most of his mental prowess is put toward his spiritual studies for which he is considered a prodigy by some.

Insanity: Vlad has a small magical tactical knife granted to him by the Ovenessa monastery which he named Insanity. The magical blade absorbs the energy of the monk it was granted to and over time becomes more attuned to its user.
This knife can never be lost or destroyed and will always appear on or close to Vlad's person when separated. Along with this due to the shared bond between the two Vlad will metaphysically feel the presence of his knife if he cannot do so physically.
Essence Manipulation: Through inner wisdom, peace, and control Vlad can manifest the innate magic of existence settled within him. By harnessing this energy Vlad can gain superhuman capabilities such as superior strength and superior speed. This energy is not infinite and acts more like a pool that he can draw from for his needs.
Strikes enhanced by his essence deliver force and power comparable to superstrength and draws little from his pool. Due to this, he is capable of sustaining these enhanced strikes for days on end without worrying he will run out. Movements that require essence, such as greater speed, drain his pool much faster. His speed limit is two times that of a peak human and can only be held for 4 hours nonstop. Constant physical super strength is beholden to this time limit as well and his strength limit is three times his body weight.
Vlad is capable of pushing past these limits by burning the finite reserve of essence a monk must hold onto so they do not kill themself. The farther past this limit he goes the greater chance that he will die from overuse. The longest he could hold these forms is eight hours after which he will drop dead. If he forgoes this choice and instead stops using his essence his pool will fill within 2 hours. If he decides to sit down and meditate he can replenish his pool in 30 minutes.
Soul: Endless meditation and instruction have taught Vlad how to use the energy of existence to sustain himself. Vlad can go 10 weeks without food as long as he remains in a meditative state during the period. This can be broken up where he can forgo getting lunch and instead meditate to sustain himself for the time being. This is at a ratio of 5 minutes of meditation for 1 hour of sustenance. However, Vlad can only enter this meditative state twice a day so the choice of how long he meditates is important and cant be spammed whenever he doesn't want to eat.

Another example is if a punch were coming his way the body movements necessary to throw it at him would be a slower sequence of events in his mind then in reality.

Where a car crash would wreck the bones of a regular human Vlad would only be sent flying with less damage to his physical form. Bladed weapons such as knives will find it tougher to go into his body without adequate force but things like a bullet will still pierce through him.

Both kind and accepting humans in a country of powered individuals the Duvan found little issue welcoming and introducing the nuances of farming to all the species that chose to call the quieter east side of the island home. Growing an assortment of crops and making a nice living for themselves the two soon had their first kid.
By the time Vlad reached age seven, his small family had grown larger as two little sisters named Cara and Vanya saw fit to fill his days with whining and crying. Despite constant pestering, the trio grew close due to the hard work they shared and the loving community surrounding them. As the oldest, it was his job to watch over them as they were his responsibility when his parents weren't around. Though he never expected this task to fall on him permanently.
In April of 2010 a werewolf, fleeing city police, would find its way onto their farm. Unfortunately, for the Duvans the murderous criminal had no plans to take hostages and with little thought attacked their home with killer intent. During the struggle, Vlad's father charged him with protecting his sisters. Scooping Vanya up and taking Cara by the hand the trio hid in a nearby closet as the screams of their parents slowly died down to silent whispers for help.
Within a few minutes, the looming shadow of the werewolf's bestial form blocked all light from entering the closet. Mustering his courage, anger, and stupidity into one action Vlad rushed out and attempted to attack the creature. With a bone-breaking bite to the neck young Vlad fell to the ground bleeding profusely. Before his consciousness was stolen from him however a bright light filled the room and the cries of his sisters carried him to sleep.
Years following the event Vlad and his siblings would be placed with a foster family as he struggled to deal with city life and the young children in the homes with him. His grades failed and his demeanor changed from the young boy who spouted community and friendship. At age ten while sneaking out of his foster home Vlad would have a fortunate run-in with "Mother" Kasola, a monk he'd seen a number of times throughout his young life and member of the Ovanessa Farm not too far from his family farm. Though changed she still saw the sweet boy from years past and, despite his physical objection, decided to drag him to the monastery where he was given food, clothes, and a shower for the evening.
This one time visit would soon become a daily occurrence as Vlad dove further into the monasteries culture and teachings. Through constant endearment and care, Vlad would soon find himself a permanent student of the monastery and aspiring monk.
